10 reasons leveling is boring in SL for me

Hello guys im not quiting or anything im realistic so just want to point few things…

  1. Postponing release and prepatch +xp event mean lot of people (like me) spend last month exping alts and now exping again? Seems like fun
  2. You already watched streams or videos from SL so its not as fresh as it should be
  3. Its linear you have 0 another options How to reach lvl 60 then classic questing
  4. Even classic questing is much more linear and its trying to feel like singleplayer game(mistake imo)
  5. 90% of quest i got in first 3 hours are “click that”, talk to this npc” and few quest when you have to kill something is ez as it can be because even on 80 ilvl its easy but people having 130 ilvl lol its just chore to do…extra long tutorial that how it feels
  6. Zones and theme feel disconnected from azeroth idk
  7. Bastion is so generic and boring, it was a mistake to put it at first i think other zones looks better and more fresh…
  8. It feels slow atm im lvl 53 and still at bastion and its not like i have bastion completed i just started and clear first area. 75% of bastion map unexplored
  9. Rewards from quests are useless 80ilvl when people have 100+
  10. Leveling became tutorial to the game everybody want to lvl 60 as fast as possible and real gameplay begins after leveling

Imo just removed questing in next expansion its useless done this way…

It’s not, im having a blast leveling, every zone is amazing, so is the storytelling.

not gonna agree with you mate. Storytelling alongside with lvling was awesome. Why? simple… go direct to the point without pointless things to do along with fast lvling. No need to waste time on pointless storylines/quests with slow lvling that would make it boring

If you want boring leveling, check back MoP or WoD, especially mop, expac overall might have been good but god, the leveling was so booooring it’s unbeliveable.

The biggest problem right here.

Maldraxxus is the most fun leveling I’ve had since WoD.

Not sure why people are so negative week 1. But it always happens.

Strong disagree. All the zones are amazing this expansion, looks wise and storytelling wise. The change from Bastion into Maldraxxus is second to none and other than the problems logging in (Kazzak), this is one of the best leveling experiences yet in my opinion.

Prepatch was kind of meh, but not really a SL live launch issue.

Nope, I never watched anyone play it live or on YouTube. I went in blind.

There are side quests etc, profession leveling, exploring and so on! Skip those and follow the campaign only then it might seem linear.

Standard MMO questing, no issues here.

It’s beautiful looking, even more so than Shadowmoon valley in WoD! I never thought something would top Shadowmoon for questing and looks, but Bastion has for me.

I’m finding it fast to lvl and quest rewards pre-60 aren’t supposed to work as max lvl end game loot!

I had alot of fun.

It sounds like alot of the issues is that you ruined it for urself with how much u watched the new expansion via twitch on a levelling front it isn’t blizzards fault you have spent the last few months levelling Alts either.

Linear levelling is better as it allows each areas story to be more linked then it was previously.

Guys. Stop biting the bait lmao

This is probably because we’re not in Azeroth.

Azeroth is just one of a countless number of worlds serviced by SL, why should we see Azeroth related themes coming up?

We get an expo that actually takes us away from Azeroth and people complain it’s “too disconnected from Azeroth” I mean come on, seriously?

I’ve seen plenty of Azerothian species in the zones, including a few names from the past who died in old questlines, which is a few nice easter eggs. I wonder whether people aren’t paying attention to stuff like this as they go along?

Not saying some complaints against SL don’t have merit, but honestly the “it feels too alien” ones really need to take a reality check, because what did people expect when you’re travelling into an entirely new dimension of existence? For it to look like a blue retint of elywynn forest? The fact it IS alien is one of the better features of it imo. It actually sells the concept extremely well and makes it believable (and helps with the idea that mortal races don’t belong there).

I think it’s an example of some players coming to terms with the fact that WoW is also an RPG and therefore the storytelling element is part of the DNA. And this time Blizzard have really emphasized it, much to the chagrin of those who have never had any interest in it.

For those whom leveling is a means to an end, an expansion that meticulously crafts a story-rich questing experience is going to be a drag. The preference for that crowd will always be a leveling experience that is more driven by hack 'n slash.

Yeah you are probably right i always found useless to read story about urgent mission to collect rabbit paws…and now they focus on story more make sense

1- Thats all you

2- Again all you. Im goin in questing blind

3- This is true but hopefully it results in better storytelling and quests. Honesty i dont really care that its linear. As if doing the zones in a different order make them better, they really dont.

4- Not relevant

5- Not sure what quests you were doing there were a few of those but just as many kill, collect or do something quests. The do something quests are click on that, but this is wow.

6- Because they are not azeroth??? I dont understand this complaint

7- Bastions pretty cool to me honestly. Its greek heaven but covered in robots and owl people. If thats generic then I don’t know whats fresh

8- im lvl 51 i cant really comment

9- Im totally fine with this. It feels terrible for mythic gear to be replaced by quest greens. The heart of azeroth was almost replaced by throwaway garbage 15 minutes into bastion.

10- I like leveling the first time. Its pretty neat and chill. Please dont speak for me. Nothing about shadowlands leveling is a tutorial

What else am I supposed to do in work? Actual work? Dont be ridiculous

It is just 10 levels compared to 50 per character you did before. Not to mention you can get to the meat of the game right after completing the Campaign on one character. The sky is not falling.

I didn’t, only read a few spoilers here and there, and I am simply blown away. You should have kept the expansion’s storyline aside for when you actually played.

Sure, it is linear one time. But it is linear mainly because Blizzard wants you to take in and understand each detail of the Covenants. You can “level” just fine through side quests, Professions, etc. You can get to 60 without doing just the main story. Just that only at least once, you need to do main story for also unlocking the endgame.

That is your opinion so I will not shirk that.

Well, depends on what class you are playing. I have tense pulls all the time as an Arcane Mage, and I am someone who started Shadowlands with 124 ILevel on that character. I have not found it any easier than regular leveling was.

That is… kind of because we are in Shadowlands, not Azeroth. It should be a breath of fresh air.

Opinion.

You don’t get Explorer from doing just the story campaign. You get it when you start doing World Quests/the Covenant campaign. The pace itself? I guess it feels slow. But there is a hidden pattern/step system in everything that you do. In Bastion you went from looking at initiation rituals at ground zero, to finding out there is a rebellion and that not everything is peachy. You find that the rebels have allied with the Mawsworn, and while the ending veered off from the Forsworn, that was I suppose only to connect its story with Maldraxxus, the next zone to enter. We might explore the Forsworn rebellion if we pick that Covenant.

In Maldraxxus, the steps are to finish the runeblade. In Ardenweald we meet exposition alongside waiting for Ysera’s Wildseed to open. In Revendreth the pattern is going from supporting what we assume is the “good” guy, to eventually allying with the rebels instead.

Overall, on the surface it feels slow. But everything connects beautifully, and you find that when you look back, all of it had been necessary to go through to fully grasp the Shadowlands.

Not everyone has 100 ILevel. Only people who played BfA slightly seriously. A fresh 50 is nearly always only 50 ILevel.

Some people want to explore the vast endgame. Why fault them? See the campaign not as a tutorial, but as exploration into the Covenant zones. There is tons of information that gets thrown at you, only to make you realize that later the one you ally with is going to be a meaningful pick.

leveling sucks. It’s so linear and the stories are terrible.

Well issue is in mop you can ignore whole quest etc and level picking up herbs, pvp , dung whatever now you have only one option which is needed to do and you cant even pick zone…

Looking forward to it i cant stand more bastion

Disagree its very diffdrent now and 90% more linear then before

Im not talking about leveling but i feel like i will be in bastion till lvl 60

I see only kyrian in bastion 0 other race

Bastion quests will be grey at 55 or so.

Afaik that only is one time thing, with alts you can just do whatever zones.
