100+ customer support leave Blizzard

Jesus aren’t you a ray of sunshine whining like that… Blizz having internal issues, BFA’s so backwards but you complain about a guy thats upset with being screwed over and uses his youtube to cope with the fact that what he loves is being turned to crap.

Get your priorities straight, will ya? Christ

I was reading English to German phrase books when I was about 5 yrs old…
My Dad was in the RAF Germany band & was stationed in (West) Germany in the early 60’s; he and my Mum used them to get by in German.

Yeah its weird. If a company no longer needs some staff it cant just fire them.

RAF? Rote Armee Fraktion I bet

They’ll probably close the office and run the English CS teams out of America.

The Republic of Ireland is no longer the tax haven it used to be.

You can usually fire people you don’t need as long as you follow certain rules. You will have to cite decreased business, changed objectives and what-have-you, and ofc can’t fill that position again within a certain time without first offering it to the guys you kicked as not needed.

Paying them to leave means you didn’t fire anyone and so didn’t break any rules when you close/move the office and staff it with guys getting 50% of the pay.

It means it was a time wasting one. I’ve had tickets answered in a few hours in the middle of the morning.

You still need to give redundancy money. Usually they’ll ask people who want to leave first with more generous payouts. Then they’ll make compulsory redundancies. That’s what has people worried.

DOH! Why didn’t I think of this? The tax changes could greatly impact the financials of an Irish office. Makes perfect sense, and in that context is much less worrisome overall for us players - though still, of course, a concern for the people employed there.

Sources have told Eurogamer non-English support staff are having to cover English customer support in the short term.

oh, suddenly it makes sense. so it seems it wasn’t a mistake:

Great, not only have GMs become useless, now chances are they won’t even speak the same language as you!

But offering a year’s pay for someone to leave? That makes no sense when a proper kick for “reasons of production etc” or even a very expensive “wrongful termination” settlement costs less. Unless Blizzard is buying a clear legal record for replacing those jobs by making people quit voluntarily, ofc - or prefer to not publicly kick people?

That would explain hundreds of people getting orders cancelled in eu. Looks like blizzard making cut backs to keep profit margins up.
Think everyone should be worried with what’s going on at blizzard. I see something very major happening soon at blizzard. They’ll sell out I think.
I’m still peeved at having my whole order cancelled, which included Xmas presents.
Poor show from blizzard regarding customer service. :v:

Well ATVI stock hit a new annual low yesterday, I think it’s well on its way to bankruptcy, these numbers will hurt like hell at the 4th quarterly calling.

Sounds more like you are very young, tbf, and you’ve never even had a job. Because if you’re supposed to be working you don’t even have a basic knowledge of your rights, which is a disturbing thought.

But keep asking, because it’ll prepare you for later, which is good!

A lawyer advising you over such small stuff? That’s gotta be expensive!

Anyway, I feel sorry for the people that moved there with their whole family to get that job, just to be left in the unclear.

Ingame it’s okay, I mean, it only takes them 2-3 days to answer, why not make it a week, eh?

Last time I opened a ticket I got an answer within an hour and that was on a Saturday evening so I don’t get where you get 2 - 3 days from???

Wow, lucky! It depends on your question, I think.

Once I got stuck, like, legit stuck in a bottleneck quest so that I couldn’t continue the game at all over a dumb bug that -according to wowhead- had been there for years, which was a full day waiting for me to even get a standard answer that I’d have to figure the quest out on my own.

So I reposted again, with the same info again, including the wowhead link again and a tip to google my problem so they can actually see what I’m talking about. Took them another full day to answer.

Then I finally got a gm ingame talking to me, to whom I had to explain everything in detail again, even though I just repeated what was in the post and that if they didn’t get it to follow the wowhead link to get a better explanation. It’s all bloody there!! It took me a long time to just convince the gm to look at it because I really couldn’t continue and it would result in me having to delete the character entirely. That kind of stuck.

Then he/she started messing around in the quest themselves, realizing that it really was undoable and because of bugs and then, finally, they were allowed (and I want to stress this because their hands were obviously tied by blizzard rules!) to put me past that quest but not without a warning that they were not really allowed to do that but because I was really entirely stuck by a bug they could make an exception.

I was also offered something in a different blizzard game(?). I said I don’t play other games, but that I didn’t want a pet anyway. I want blizzard to solve obvious bottlenecking quests that bug the hell out. Up to that point (goblin starter area) I had already run into a bunch of other bugs that I could work around, but this one broke not only the game, but me. It felt like a crappy f2p game tbh, because of all the bugs.

And the answer was that Blizzard’s policy is to not fix old bugs at all, but focus entirely on the new expansion alone. So not even gamebreaking bugs are addressed, hence why you see posts about them from years before.

I could give more horrible examples but I already have a wall of text. My average is about 2 days waiting time in the later expansion, while a few hours at most during wrath. And “character stuck” was addressed almost immediately back then.

This quest:

If you scroll down a bit you can see a post in 2014 by ferana complaining about a likewise problem. For me thrall wasn’t there ever (I tried a few times) so gally would focus on me solely, even the gm couldn’t make it work.

edit: Hey, I can post links again!

Voluntary redundancy is nothing new, the last company I worked for offered it now and then. Folk would get more than a year’s salary and most ended up walking into another job. They’d use the lump sum to clear things like mortgages and or debt making their new job less stressful as they were now on a much better footing financially, of course there were exceptions to that but only a few. Their pension as well would be intact and kick in when they reached retirement age.
