Your adding more and more power to talent trees every patch which is destroying PVP and will ultimately create a game that doesn’t even feel like wow in PVE either because it’s just flashy smashing buttons whilst zooming across the map. Just a button mashing game with flashy lights
Patch 11.0 needs to undo every single class decision Dragonflight has brought and an entire new design structure needs to be brought because as of right now, 11.0 will NOT bring anybody back to game and will cause more to leave.
Dragonflight is not a good expansion, The game has the lowest participation of all time which you can easily google to find information that shows wow has less activity than the end of Shadowlands S4 was was one of the least played patch ever, and I suspect 10.2 going to be similar outside of of the PVE push to get a new legendary item.
and I cannot help blame it on every single expansion you just keep adding power. In legion it was Artifacts, in BFA it was Azerite, Essences and Corruption… In Shadowlands it’s Covenants, soul binds, set bonus’s and legendary items… But the one thing that happened with these is you removed ALL that power which wasn’t great however…
In modern WOW you keep adding power to classes, each redesign sees them to attain a new level of power but here is the problem!! YOU WON’T REMOVE THIS POWER… Every class is going to be absurdly powerful soon and it’ll be a mess as PVE will be a flashy mobile button mashing mess and PVP won’t exist because everybody will have 100% uptime, or 100% instant cast, whilst entire teams are Crowd Control or better yet just 1 shot.
It’s toxic and will cause so much more damage, because people could handle toxic of the past 3 because the knew the toxic was short lived… Dragonflight toxic isn’t. It’s here for another bigger failure of an expansion until they finally put more competent developers in that make the game feel like Warcraft
You’re doing what most armchair whiners do, taking your own dislikes and trying to pretend they are correlated with the success of the expansion or responsible for its failure.
All the time you conveniently ignore nuggets like “holy crap, for a game thats 20 years old, its doing pretty well” and that most people sub, achieve their goals and then dip out for a few months.
I think their best approach would be to make talent trees a “permanent system”, and just improve them over time, so they get better and better. It’s also very complex ofc, but if it stays permanent, more and more people will grasp it over time. If they change things, then you have to relearn whatever comes after.
i don’t think people leaving or not participating has much to do with class designs it was mostly about the expansion being dull but i agree on becoming way too powerful, they’re gonna have to do another squish soon
We have no talent tree and tons of borrowed power, people complain, they give us a talent tree and remove borrowed power, people complain. Some people are just impossible to please.
Personally i enjoy DF’s approach much more than i did the last couple of expansions.
I wish people would stop passing their personal oppinions as facts. Fact is that we dont know the actual numbers because Blizzard dont post them. Besides, who the hell cares if theres 500.000 players or 5 million players, chances are that you are never gonna have a worthwile interaction with 99.9% of them anyway.
Nope this is game i like and this is game i fell in love with back in the day…
classes right now feels so good to play bit OP but fun
When you compare them to BFA or SL it is superior design what they did in DF
I did hate the league of legends design back in BFA/SL
it was so garbanzo
People feeling too weak = results in complaints, lower player count and no fun in general
People feeling too strong = may diminish achievements in gameplay but more people get to experience the fun, resulting in possible higher player count
one shotting in pvp is bad , in pve , we will see how it will affect the 70-80 leveling and beyond in next expansion, like the OP said, borrowed power all became useless after expansions before but right now it will be different . can be hard to balance too
Yeah, but to be fair. PvP never felt really balanced to begin with.
Possibly, hence why people usually demand of Blizzard to NOT increase character level every DLC and instead just stay with the current one and exclusively use item level for character power. Although that does introduce other issues as well (like stats bloating if not re-scaled every season).
I usually never had a real problem with the borrowed power systems (tho I prefer the talent trees we have now by miles over what we had before). Only issue I had with BP was that it was so heavily time gated and RNG.
Douth this is issue. Like my biggest issue with retail is its seonal gameplay, rewards are boring and overall its pretty hollow mmo experience.
Like mounts are worthless beocuse blizzard keeps adding hundreds of them each patch just for sake of collecting them instead of being actualy reward for beating challenginc content or achievement. This goes for all type of cosmetic rewards, pets, titles, etc…
Gear progression is joke. Constant invalidation of progress trough seasonal gameplay is nonsense and retail welfare epics dimish any sort off feel of acomplishment. Also gear is super boring when comes to stats.
Leveling is utter boring. Too fast too easy and leveling gear is nonrewarding. Proffesions are worthless and bareldy relevant even at max level.
MMO and entire social structure is simple nonexsitend.
This is exactly the reason why MoP is often cited as having the best class design and PvP. Every class was crazy and full of BS stuff.
Almost every class were capable of killing you in a global or two.
Mages could CC an entire team.
Warriors were out healing actual healers.
Rogues could attack while stealthed, and stayed stealthed.
Monks having a list of BS so long it wouldn’t even fit in the bible.
Hunters were actually just mail wearing rogues, with a gun.
Shamans clicking Ascendance and Stormblasting you for twice your health over.
Boomkins out damaging all other classes in a BG combined.
Warlocks being effectively immortal.
Etc.
And after the pruning in WoD and Legion we have slowly been making our way back there.
I know your pain cause that is how i felt in Legion where the class design up to WoD was thrown out the window for anemic class design. But, I am afraid we are gonna roll with this for at least 3 expansions.
This is much better than Legion and BfA though.
But, i could agree that this is the system with the most illusion of choice.
i think what they doing with talent tree is permanent, but they adding tier sets to change your playstyle/tree choice.
In this case i dont mind this ,but many tree’s needs an update or a rework .
You people will ruin anything that makes the game fun frankly speaking.
I am already in a bad mood after seeing the recent warlock ptr changes, and you people want to make things even worse next expansion.
Getting new talents, and more in depth option is exactly what makes gameplay more enjoyable, and you’re here like, nah id rather have a more boring game.
Eventually they will likely have to split certain talents into more talents, but honestly as long as the gameplay gets better, and we get some cool stuff once in a while, i’m in.
