I wish I had the foresight to buy a second g600

look no further
Oh, I had bought it like 6-7 years ago or so. I, too, wish I just had ordered 2 instead of one.
Corsair > Logitech > Ducky for mices
Logitech is a good choice, die schweizer QualitÀt
15 to 16 yeary is okayish for logitech for 2 mice. My g5 refresh still works after 16 years. The only thing I did is disassemble it once to clean it from the insideâŠremove hair and whatnot.
Logitech keyboards in general are good, but the romer g switches (also known as Omron B3K series) have a high tendency to start âbouncingâ. Means after a while they tend to start registering more than once when you press them. Hope for you, that youâre not affected, but it is a common problem with those switches.
Also when you remove the keycaps for cleaning, those tiny legs are just too easy to break. Even when you use the right tools for it.
I had the G910 Orion Spectrum which was the first one to come with those switches and it was a lot of fun until after one or two years the problems with the bouncing started.
Not even mentioning the tiny legs from the switches breaking offâŠI mean they feel like theyâre designed as a predetermined breaking point. I actually still have they keyboard somewhere I think + a second set of keys, partially already used because of broken keycap legsâŠ
After that one I did switch back to some maybe 20 year old keyboard logitech keyboard I still had laying around, with rubber dome which still did work.
Then later I had the decision between the g915 TKL and the razer deathstalker v2 pro tkl and did decide for the razer because I didnât wanna try my luck with the romer gx switches in the g915 which again didnât look very stable even with the a bit bigger âlegsâ on the keycaps. The razer keyboard has optical switches which canât be affected by bouncing, since there is no contact and the keycaps are hold by something very similar to the cherry mx keycaps, which is not easy to break.
I actually did happen to be kind of a logitech fan before my problems with the keyboard. And I actually do like the new versions of the logitech g502 mouse, the g502 x plus and I wouldâve probably bought it, if I wouldnât have bought a razer keyboard.
I also did want to use the Logitech G pro X 2 lightspeed as a headset, but it didnât fit my huge head. x)
So I did go full razer and bought a razer blackshark v2 pro. Iâm still using an old logitech g533 at work together with my g5 refresh, when Iâm in the office and not working from home ^^
Interesting, good to know. Is this a switch issue or with the PCB? I still have a couple of replacement switches. Iâve owned my keyboard since 2016ish and I think the DEL key is starting to exhibit this behaviour. If itâs just the switch I might just solder on a new one.
Iâd really rather not swap keyboards. I canât get used to TKLs, and the 413 is rather compact for a 100% keyboard. Also, Iâve kind of grown to like the Romer G switches, weird as that might soundâŠ
Itâs a problem with how mechanical switches do work. Usually, it is compensated to some degree, but why those switches later get to a point where it canât be compensated anymore? No clue.
Not a mechanical keyboard switch, but this video explains the basic principle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvU8m_30iK0
That is also why the optical switches in some razer keyboards and even mice canât have that problemâŠnothing, that is actually doiing the switch-action can mechanically bounce in them, since they do use a photoelectric sensor instead of a mechanical electrical contact.
Except for the bouncing and those easy to break legs on the keycaps, I did love those switchesâŠeven when they were linear and I wouldâve preferred tactile (but not clicky).
But heyâŠsame problem with my razer keyboardâŠthey had linear and they had clicky, but no tactile x)
PS: But donât worry, razer has itâs own problems⊠x)
Yeah thats the one. I feel when it was released the builds were a lot more stronger like the one i have. When its starts getting mass produces they tone down the quality
Its could be the model before rpg elite or whatever its called
Dutch amazon still has them in
you might need to do some PO box referral magic
https://www.amazon.nl/dp/B00EE99KMM/ref=olp-opf-redir?aod=1&ie=UTF8&condition=new&tag=tweakers0e-21&creative=380345&creativeASIN=B00EE99KMM&linkCode=asm
or maybe your countries amazon has one too
Germany as well (just exchange the ânlâ with âdeâ and remove the crap after the last â/â.
Should be around same for most countries in the EU with their own amazon address
Having had both Naga and Scimitar I can add to the testimonies that the Scimitar is a real pos. The scroll wheel started skipping in about 3 weeks after buying it. Gone back to Razer now which will eventually have the same problem but the build quality on the Naga is much better than the Scimitar. It has so far lasted about 1.5 years.
A pity, since I enjoyed the Scimitarâs overall design much more but every now and again I look at the box it came in, see Bajheeraâs stupid face on it and shake my fist at the thought of that godawful scroll wheel
Which SteelSeries 12-button mouse are you looking at? I still use the Rival 500 (bought extras when it was discontinued) and wasnât aware that they had a new 12-button model.

The Aerox 9 is the one that seems to their current line up.
The layout just seems really ergonomic, probably wouldnât be helped by the fact I have Megan Fox thumbs.
I have the Aerox 9 and I like it a lot. Itâs super light - I was getting pretty bad rsi from my chunky old Red dragon one, and the change made a huge difference. The software is OK, but I donât use it for anything fancy. The one thing I find is that I forget to charge the mouse, and so sometimes end up gaming with it stuck on a USB cable while it charges.
Thanks! Just looked at it, and the placement of the button block does strike me as poor, too.
I liked the Rival 500âs layout, but they donât make it anymore. I still have a spare one of those, but if I didnât, Iâd probably consider the Corsair Darkstar Wireless RGB. It uses a similar layout as the Rival 500 did. But you wrote that the Corsair software isnât working well for you, so itâs probably out.
Yeah, I should add that I cannot really use the rear three buttons. 1-6 on the side no problem, 7 and 8 OK but after that itâs a difficult reach. Doesnât bother me but if you use all 12 it might not be the mouse you want.
I had this problem with the Naga too. Thatâs why I eventually switched to the Rival 500 in 2016 or so. Fewer buttons, larger and I can easily get to them. The Corsair Darstar is the only mouse like that, so I kind of cornered myself a little by getting used to that. The 12 button block is much more common.
Does anyone know if Corsair or any other mice work with third-party software that may be more reliable?
I map my buttons to CTRL+1-0 & - =. So donât use it for macros. I am just wondering if software is the issue common across all brands, is there a reliable software that works that doesnât count as key-mod software that could break WoWâs ToS?
The G600 still exsists, i bought one on amazon the other week after my old one of 8 years died. I canât live without it. I might actually stock up on them incase they ever disappear from Amazon
