Afaik there is some auto-hide feature auto-detecting swear words since you see a lot of posts instantly hidden without reports that contain ways around swear words.
Anyway imo, if someone keeps getting banned its most likely because you have either offended a lot of people, your general tone or someone holds a grudge. Seems the OP claims they were banned rightfully 14 times? Lucky you weren’t on any forums I moderated since you’d have been perma banned.
Eventually if you annoy groups of people too much with posts, they will start either ignoring you or trying to get rid of you.
Its also interesting to me that there appears to be some kind of clique on this GD forum where certain people, including the OP, post a ton of non-game related crap constantly that gets blue posts and things but most game related stuff doesn’t. I don’t particularly care since its GD but its interesting. I assume they all have some kind of discord they’re all apart of.
I am guilty of that as charged but it’s what made me known on the forums I do sometimes comment on the game but I’m mostly oocer on the forums or mostly known as Retributors good twin hehe .
I think the problem here is the fact that there isn’t an ‘offtopic’ section on these forums and there is a certain commonality of interests that there is nowhere to display. Thus GD also acts as the Offtopic section for the most part. Hence why I posted the Andy Serkis reading Riddles in the Dark from his non stop reading of the Hobbit recently, as this would appeal to a number of the forum goers too.
As for Blues posting in game related posts, in my opinion you are more likely to find a response in what is your favourite pet or mount type threads than in a non game related thread. I don’t want to put words in your mouth but never in all my time on the forums have I seen a blue post in a gameplay related thread, unless it was a lighthearted one. The Mods steer well clear of posts which critique the game in either a good or bad way.
They purposefully do not post in game related posts, whilst yeah, posting in topics you mention to keep a presence. And yes, removing OT is probably the reason. Most forums I’ve been a part of, OT was the biggest by far.
I also don’t believe in the conspiracy of people reporting someone getting them banned on purpose. You have to have something in a post to break the rules in order for action to be taken.
Some people get flagged a lot for no good reason and those posts have no action taken against the person. Sometimes people do lose their tempers and say things they shouldn’t and those do have action taken against them. A post being buried is not action being taken. It’s what happens in the interim until a post is reviewed.
If you do not break the rules, you will never get into trouble, it does not matter who does or does not report your posts. Even if you think there is a possee/clique whatever, they can’t do anything if you do not break the rules.
That is not true most of the time because I do want to post things on topic but sometimes I get into a long conversation with a known forum buddy by accident and it derails.
Hm I’ve seen people post a swear word in arena forum that ends in k with the preceding c removed and it was hidden within minutes. That’s some pretty fast flagging but yeah I have no proof, just noticed a few times.
Anyway from my experience, 99% of the time if your posts are constantly being flagged, hidden or you are being banned, it is in YOUR attitude/content that is the problem and unfortunately, even if you changed, some people hold grudges a long time and try to make your life miserable.
The forum software they’re using is Discource which is open source and should actually allow “open end”-modifications without changing the core aspect. Obviously they could improve on it but I don’t think they have the time and resources for such a task.
You rather mean “several” people. It takes 4-6 strikes to get muted.
Indeed but many don’t want to take responsibility for what they may have posted and would rather blame other factors.
I do think some like to wind others up and bait them into breaking the rules, but I think it’s best not to give in to those kinds of posts and end up get yourself into trouble yourself.
