A mythic +2 will give you 135 valor.
Upgrading an item with 3 itemlevels requires 400 valor.
So we’re going to run three times a mythic +2 to get a boost of +3 itemlvl on a single item.
Now this is what i call milking a system.

You could save up for the next levels, perhaps? Or get a better stat piece and upgrade that?
remember back in mop where we had the perfect upgrade system … ye the devs don’t as well i like upgrade currency i can farm easily in the open world

So that’s 15 items to upgrade (excluding the legendary item slot), 400 valor per 3 ilvl for each. That’s of course without including the possible raid drops, and PvP item upgrades. So that’s 6000 valor to upgrade all your gear once.
How much valor do you get per dungeon clear though?

135 seems quite low. That’s 45 dungeons just to upgrade all your gear once.
well i dont think its supposed to replace gearing in general. i assume we are just supposed to substitute 1-3 items where we cant get a higher drop of it.

Of course. With the weekly vault the number of items that’d need upgrading would likely drop. I’m not sure about the items from the dungeons themselves though, but even with the low drop rates you’d probably get at least a few high ilvl items just by farming the KSM achievement.
That said, even if only several items need upgrading, then based on their ilvl you’d still end up having to do dozens of dungeons in order to fully upgrade them. I don’t envy those who mostly gear through M+.
well yeah. of course blizzard doesnt want to give you the gear for free. they want you to waste time on it.
Indeed. This will likely still make gearing trough PvP the fastest and easiest way, especially if you can afford to buy a boost.
yeah problem is just the rating.
It’s weekly capped anyway, so nolifing +2 is kind of meaningless
But its not intended that you upgrade all your gear by this route. It’s there to fill in the gaps.
Hmm, that’s true. It’s safe to assume that by the time people get KSM and enough valor for significant upgrades, they’d already have gotten plenty of high ilvl pieces from the dungeons and the great vault.
4 weeks of valor cap to upgrade a 2h weapon from 210 (15s) to 220.
And y, you need the weapon to drop for you at 210 + KSM.
