Of course not, this is my third character i’m leveling up, i’m enjoying classic to the max. Just wondering about the ‘‘actual’’ value of a boost like this.
Just got a bit tired of the average dungeon group taking 1.5+ hours just to get to the entrance with a 10% chance of actually clearing the whole thing
People sell rings, which no longer are BiS, for 15-25g. That is IF it drops. Try finding a person selling those and save 25-35g, or simply ask a Farmer if you can tag along once for the kill. A friendly person wouldnt even charge if you are polite.
I wouldnt say 50g is worth it, but its your wallet or principles that decide =)
Actually, players selling those kinds of boosts WANT to do those runs anyway for making some gold for themselves. The only difference is that extra 15/50g in their wallet when the items they are farming anyway goes to another person in the group.
What’s the problem here? Everybody is free to do anything they want as long as it pleases themselves (and doesn’t harm others :P), no? It’s a game after all
Well since all it takes is one kill of the princess to complete the quest, and princess runs for the ring (runs till it drops) are 20sih gold, I would say 50g for a single princess run is a bit much really yeah.
The ring is definitely worth it, if it drops. Was BIS till Diremaul, but way easier to get than the Tarnished Elven ring. You can not just buy the Tarnished ring, its BoP?
Personally i’d just continue to run it for exp and eventually you will get what you need. However if people work for the money, I have no issue at all with people spending their gold on whatever they choose to
Hunter does tribute run, open the chest to check for loot, if the ring is in there they go into world to advertise. You join, pay hunter, walk in, pick up the ring.
Thats how i understand it works. Or they just invite you, do the run, and you go to the end if its in the chest.
Your reading comprehension might not be on trial, but you start an argument with someone just for the sake of starting an argument.
Whats your point anyhow?
You have not added anything to the conversation…
You even missed the OPs point.
But you you try to argue the narrative to fit your point.
Of course. Anything I do with friends is fun, I’d feel robbed of time spent with them if they’d pay a stranger to help them get an item!
I understand your point, and I’d feel the same way if it was about an item for me but I try to remember I’d run Mara 50 times very happily for an upgrade for a friend, and I don’t even particularly like that place haha.
No; I start arguements with people because they’re either wrong, or have said something that I deem exceptionally stupid. In this case, it’s your “gameplay I don’t approve of isn’t what classic is about and is toxic” attitude.
Nor have you. My point dear Lyman, is your attitude.
No, I didn’t. I answered his question.
Do you know what narrative means? You clearly don’t, because this sentence makes no sense.
I’d also happily help friends and guildies, but I still wouldn’t have it in me to ask for help.
I said nothing of gameplay.
I spoke about attitude.
But anyhow…
Basicly you are the one who gets to judge who’s opinion is the right one?
I dont care what you think, but you seem so upset about what I said…
Calling people things like “stupid”, or “idiot”, is exactly the toxicity I’m talking about…
Everything you said on the matter is visible in text.
It’s cute that you think attitudes and gameplay aren’t intertwined, but they are. Also; people sold boosts way back in Vanilla too. Just because something is more common now, doesn’t mean it’s new.
What do you mean right? I don’t recall mentioning right or wrong, I said your opinion was stupid. Which it is.
Yet here you are attempting to argue with me.
The reason I’m arguing with you is in the very text that you’ve quoted.
You realise that you insulted me before I insulted you, right? Or have you forgotten already? Here: a reminder:
I think it adds something to the MMO side of Classic that there is an actual service economy around dungeons and dungeon loot. Also in Classic it really makes sense to use those services.
For example it can be much more efficient to buy a Tarnished Elven Ring off a Hunter than it is to farm it yourself. It can take a long time to farm it and the process will likely involve wipes and failed groups. If you instead buy the finished tribute run with the ring in the chest you can spend all that time farming gold. That with current prices of around 30g makes buying the ring significantly better.
There’s just one problem:
I’m not paying my subscription to play world of catalogues. Farming the dungeon myself is a significant part of the game. I’d rather not skip that out of a misguided desire for convenience.
Good thing then that nobody is forcing you to do this.
What amazes me is that some people are offended that this service is a thing, I can only assume that those people also have tailoring to make their own bags, etc.
I don’t mind other people doing it, of course. But I reject the idea that it “adds something to the MMO side”.
In fact, there’s a guy who periodically posts on these forums about how all he does is log on, farm ZF graveyard 5 times, then log off again. In the same post, he complains that the game is boring.
People are training themselves to see the game as an economy sim, and that’s sad.
Suren is correct. This is also how I remember the early days. You generally got to max level, applied to join a raid guild normally via web forum, never in game. In fact in-game invites to well respected guilds was frowned upon. It had to be done like a job application, that’s how it worked. This is because many raid guilds used the DKP system to allocate loot and this would all be tracked via the guild site.
Raiding back then was completely different also. You’d sometimes wait over a month for your next piece of loot. Just having ONE epic made you ‘a cut above the rest’
We have simply shifted into a new generation of young gamers. They are being brought up in a highly capitalist society where everything can be had on-demand. Spotify, netflix, Amazon prime, the list goes on. Everything is instant in their lives, so they use the path of least resistance to keep it up - Paying for easy loot.
Sad state of affairs, but hey, at least we oldies got to experience friendship, loyal companions and great people to play with.
If somebody does not like going to dungeons to get the loot and prefers paying other people to do it for them, then they most likely chose a wrong game. Hunter would need to pay ME to let him spoil all the fun. Been boosted in dungeons is the most boring thing you can ever experience in this game and I certainly would not do it for free.
