Today, we issued gameplay suspensions to players who intentionally left Mythic+ groups a great many times in The War Within Season 1. The sort of behavior we actioned was either without regard for the experience of their fellow players, or in some cases, even deliberately intending to harm others’ experiences.
This is detrimental to the community of players who strive to do their part in group content the vast majority of the time.
We understand that occasionally, abandoning runs will happen. Players can experience unexpected real life emergencies, internet outages, or the group collectively deciding to quit the run. Today, we suspended players who repeatedly and recklessly disrupted Mythic+ groups.
We will continue to keep an eye on groups in the future, and repeat offenders are subject to escalating penalties.
Just to add: This rule was already in effect. If a player deliberately left the group with intent to harm it you may report them for it and it will be actioned against. Simply unintentional leaving or other internet issues is not a reason to be feared of.
i hope its a medium to high 2 digit number of left keys, if you sanction player. I left a key yesterday, because the healer didnt dispell and underperformed in a degree, where its no fun to continue.
Maybe define what degree you find “acceptable” for someone to leave and what is considered “without regard for the experience of their fellow players”.
Because with this post, you communicate that if someone leaves a run that someone else wants to complete, it is a bannable offense (in that definition).
So Skynet has been given a kill list and will keep adding new names to it on a whim.
So short sighted that you literally can’t see this going wrong in any way. You don’t have the man power to enforce any rules in the games and instead of for once using the carrot you’ve completely switched to the stick.
Dungeons are frustrating, scaling is not entirely in tune with this expansion’s adjustments to healer and tank roles and these two still bear disproportional responsibility with the rest of the team.
What about if I leave a key because nobody is kicking mobs? Why should I waste time doing a key that will take 2 hours when I only have a set number of hours I can play each day. Under a 10 fine, but above 10 you’re only playing for rating and if you can see it won’t get timed, what is the point?
Make sure you don’t write anything in the chat before leaving, constructive or otherwise, because it can only prolong the suspension, since someone will definitely also report you out of spite. Great system btw, next time someone asks you to perform a mechanic you can start jumping to confirm, but make sure to do so in a non threatening way not to insult or assault your fellow players.
In close future, to combat the problem with players refusing to talk to each other they will probably introduce a minimum word count per dungeon run as a measure of personal performance to determine who is inactive and dragging the group down.
Please focus on improving the basic gameplay rather than policing interactions between adults. It’s not that I don’t agree with the general sentiment, I just don’t trust in their ability to keep doing this correctly, fairly and consistently.
So you basically just made all dungeons weekly no leaver runs.
Sorry if i find that the group isn’t capable of doing the key in-time and i don’t feel like wasting my time, and i decide to leave then i am the one to get punished??
Only incentivizes rat behaviour
Make M+ not feel like a chore/time sink and make them enjoyable while failing then i’d be more than happy to agree with the change but currently no thanks.
First of all, i find it odd that a lot of ppl both here on wow forum and wowhead forum are against blizzard interfering with players leaving M+, since you guys been screaming for this for years with stuff like “when will blizz ban key leavers” or “wtfbro blizz needs to ban ppl for wasting my time and leaving after 1 wipe” (just google blizzard some keys should be abandoned and you will prove my point) And now when you get it, im seeing a lot of the ppl in the comment questioning it? You can never decide can you?
Second of all, Ive never been for blizzard interfering with M+ groups. Im playing a 3k score prot warrior, half of my keys i have timed are 13s and the rest 12s. And frankly, there are so many bad players, and considering how punishing M+ is this season, even a death at wrong place and time can brick your key. We also have to factor in how scaling is working this season (for example the jump from a +11 to a +12 feels like you are doing a 13 or 13,5) And honestly, ive left keys simply cus some players are so toxic, the only thing they deserv is you leaving the key, and also to protect your own sanity and mental health.
With all that beeing said, we need som clarifiaction about how this will work out.
My questions are
Will there be a real investigation by a real human beeing? Or will it be like the broken system we have now, which simply means if enough ppl report you a bot will either silence you, give you a warning or suspend your account?
If you are going to implement a system like this, many things have to be take into concideration before banning players, and a real human have to do a proper investigation and not leave it to a bot which bans players for x ammount of complaints or if it hits certaion ammount of reports and a ceiling blizzard have set, forcing the bot into taking action.
Under which rules can people leave keys whitout fearing of getting banned later down the road? Many of us high key pushers play to time a key, and we often leave when we know the key cant be timed. So we need clarification. When can we leave a key? When does it count as “griefing”? Since a lot of ppl report others simply cus you didnt want to finish a key that would take 45 min with a grp that cant even do basic mechanics, they will report you for griefing. Ive even been in dungeons were the one who caused the wipe flamed others, and then reporting others for leaving the key, simply cus he was the keyholder and got salty about that his own key got depelted, which he himself caused.
How will forcing players to stay in a key solve this issue? If anything this will cause people to be even more strict with who they will invite, which just leads to longer queues (and we all know that many ppl alrdy struggle with getting invited judging from forum posts and feedback ive heard from others) and a mont later ppl will be back here at this forum yelling about they are not getting invited, and keyholders are even more restrictive. This system will also cause an even more toxic environment in M+ (and its pretty darn toxic as it already is)
There are a lot of keys that should be abandoned, especially when you realize 1 min into the key that a lot of players actually have no clue about mechanics, dont kick, dont use any cc, take way to much unnecessary dmg they can avoid, and that MANY MANY players dont even use their defensives and just straight up die with their defensives unused.
It was all done by my upstairs neighbor. But what’s on your mind about Blizzard this season? Are you giving us a wall of +12 or the slightest wipe costs us the key and now we don’t have to leave? It’s just nonsense, I don’t see how to extend my subscription with such a mentality. There are still big bugs in certain dungeons, the balancing is a little shaky and now we will have to support the worst players in this game (who are not necessarily helped by the game either) for a long time. Really incomprehensible, to see how this will be implemented. let’s hope this is just a diversion for the mourners on the forum.
Ok how do you tell them apart without monitoring the entire run, chat, performance of each player etc etc?
Now we are going to be held hostage by morons that feel entitled to their bricked key to be finished on their naked alt for vault with 85 deaths on the board…coz if you leave you get reported out of spite and potentionaly banned for it and your account marked.
I do agreee that leaving is frustrating af…but i also dont believe theres a way without an exceptional data analysing what is the “reasonable” disband and what is the griefing. And i highely doubt that blizzard and their customer support AI/BOT “go to wowhead and dont bother us” type of reponses in tickets, will bother with such investigation. They will just see reports (which are highely abusable) and ban based on that.
This whole thing is opening a pandora box that will do more harm than good.
Good idea would be putting in place FF voting where majority of ppl press yes and then leave like in LoL.
If a group is just not able to progress onward for x reason, then i forced to stay (even for hours) until some miracle to happen? Or be banned? And who will decide when its “time” to leave a failed group? The fantastic auto punish system which also can be griefed?
Also, the “leavers/griefers” all have to do is now to fake dc and the run auto failed for most of the parties, since most of them wont be able to finish with 4 man. So the other 4 will leave with a chance for ban.
Im not interested in this clownfiesta, so im outta here.
now dead keys leads to a ban because 4 premade have more rights than the one healer/tank that joins. gg pugging as tank and heal i guess. good im already done this season. now you are forced to stay in a toxic group and let your chat roll through.
