I have two very major inspiations for Dangerbeard.

  • Malcolm Tucker from The Thick of It
  • Jessica Hyde from (the British version of) Utopia

There’s a lot of random bits and pieces that I take inspiration from for this character. Musically there’s a big, big well of inspiration in the song “Street Justice” by Cro-Mags.

Beyond those two characters and this musial black hole I pick and choose out of so many places and almost all of them are music-related. Honestly for all my characters I start with some musical inspiration and build from there.

When I made Khalila I had, like with her familymembers ( my other Ocs)
the seven deadly sins as inspiration. With her it was mainly wrath and envy.
Through the years I find myself pointing at the screen and squeaking “Lily!” when I’ve seen “Khalilaisms” in movies or on tv. They also inspire me to add and explore more little quirks to her personality.

Arno Dorian (From AC Unity)
Richard Sharpe (From the Sharpe’s Series)
Alucard (From Netflix’s Castlevania)
Jacob Fryre (From AC Syndicate)
Matthew Crawley: (From Downton Abbey)

That’s at least the ones I can come up with the moments.

P.S Arian was based on Richard Sharpe first and then evolved into something else with time.

I love games like these days. I could fill entire pages with what has inspired my various characters but I’ll try to contain myself. The main theme with Faelenn are usually more stoic characters, because she herself is very much a prim and poised Lady of war. Only occassionally does the mask slip and you see the very real emotions and thoughts she struggles with.

  • Legolas (LotR): Because which Elven archer isn’t fascinated by that blonde haired acrobat?
  • Alith Anar (Warhammer Fantasy): Because of the themes of Elven grace combined with deadly cunning and ferocity and the fracturing of the Elven people.
  • Yennefer (The Witcher): Like Yen, Faelenn can also be cold and blunt but also incredibly fierce and loyal to friends and family.
  • Tali (Mass Effect): Displacement, exile (voluntarily or involuntarily) and being homesick are all things that Faelenn struggles with daily.
  • Aya (Assassin’s Creed Origins): They both passionately believe in a cause and both struggle with balancing their duty and their own personal happiness.
  • Katniss (The Hunger Games): Mostly because badass archer girl with a stoic attitude. Both are not as stoic as they like to think.
