6 characters that inspired your OC?

Thank you everyone for posting your inspirations!

I’m sorry I cannot post the pictures anymore as my TL3 was taken away.

Hopefully someone else can do it

Henri Bourassa

Yeah well, Blondie was a character that grew a bit from a frightened young undead to a madlad loudmouth. Most of what she is are exaggerated characteristics of my own.
But some inspiring characters were

  • Jamie Hewlett’s Tank Girl
  • A girl I met at boxing
  • Daisy Domergue
  • (Only Slightly) Micah Bell
  • Nearly anyone in the punk/squatter scene I’ve met
  • Pippi Longstocking (Who also counts as a squatter)

You can see an theme of “arrogant callous snob” throughout.

  • Askeladd (Vinland Saga)
World-spanning ambition wrapped up in an ambitious man, wrapped up further yet in small-time schemes and murder. A lot of Torkazi’s humanising elements were inspired here.

  • Dijsktra (Witcher)
Head of Royal Intelligence turned crimelord. Eve more scheming and political ambition achieved through underhanded methods- also, temper.

  • Lucius Malfoy (Harry Potter) & Jafar (Disney)
Snobbyness-- untrustworthy snakes and conspirators whom have no qualms in kissing up to higher up’s like second nature with every intention to embed a knife in their skull.

  • Sir Crocodile (One Piece)
Inordinate cruelty to his enemies, bitterness and scoffing at short-sightedness, humble lives and modest idealism. Expensive tastes.

  • Mogu Casters
Torkazi’s ideas on magic, The Loa as well as his main transmog.

This one, I imagine, is a reluctant necromancer, who can’t let go of his family and is now proactively keeping himself (and them) animated by artificial means.

  • Oedipus Rex (Conflict with his father)
  • The Lich King (most famous death knight informs me on how to death knight)
  • Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (Does that count as 2?!)
  • Frankenstein (The Dr. not the monster)
  • William Foster (Keanu Reeves character in replicas)
  • Karl Landsteiner ( Scientist that self experimented on himself for blood science)

There’s a bunch - I initially created Tirei based on For Honor’s Lawbringer, and the character went on from there.

I think that if there’s a main inspiration by now though I’d have to point at Zhang Liao. As much as Tirei wishes she was a Zhao Yun (and would have preferred marrying one…) she is more Zhang Liao than anything else.

My Radnor is inspired from:

-Paul Atreides, Dune(novels).
-Alexandros Mograine, World of Warcraft.
-Taelan Fordring, World of Warcraft.
-Edmond Dantès, The Count of Monte Cristo.
-Jaime Lannister(season 5-8), Game of Thrones.
-A slight part of myself, as all my characters. And I guess everyone’s. I think that ‘to play a role’ in such a way could be compared to ‘acting on the set, or on theatre’. Every actor in this world puts a small sparkle of himself into every character he protrays.

For my character Burt Aldreign, a farmhand-turned warrior from Westfall, I had two inspirations to start the character off with.

  • Larry the cable guy, primarily for the accent and way of speaking.
  • Thorkell (Vinland Saga) for that inhuman strength and happy demeanor.

Besides those two existing characters, I’ve taken inspiration from concepts and ideas, no particular ones, however. Sure, there’s probably a character that embodies the same “Truly kind-hearted, wearing his heart on his sleeve” type as Burt does.

Always surprised to see character inspirations out like this. I tend to go the opposite way around, pull together a character from scratch and then notice some parallels to existing characters.

Here we go. I usually have three at max as inspirational characters.

Odd inspiration for your character but thats fine i guess

For me it was a bit 50-50. Tirei was created mostly from scratch (I went with a visual inspiration and used a train of logic from there to devise personality, background etc). As time goes on I notice similarities and draw inspiration for development - it helps determine what decisions they would make, which can sometimes be difficult to imagine in your head as a whole other person.
