Really ? Such a wild, hazardous conclusion. But it’s getting clear to me why you’re so bad at reading replies, so if I may give you a piece of advice, go take semantic courses.
Yes, that’s exactly what I said. So let me get this straight : in your view, as you say, not caring about peoples’ lives or why they quit the game is tantamount to not caring about anything ? Just what kind of school did you go to ? Please see my suggestion above, even though I did tell you in my very first reply to come back only when you have better arguments. Guess even that was too much to grasp for you.
… none ? Why would I bring any ? I was merely wondering, as I already stated, and never meant to start any kind of debate, and certainly not with you or the likes of you.
Is this your usually line ? I’m afraid it doesn’t work like that. Word definitions are not contingent upon “my” or “you” view, we are bound by what the dictionary tells us.
obviously not as the first 2 posters took the other option: take the money out of blizzards hand by quitting/taking a break.
we dont have to accept poor gameplay. even if you come back casually every now and then, taking time off hurts blizz. not enough for them to care, but just imagine if ALL 4M~ players took just 1 month off (as in, not pay for 1 month).
i think the hit of £40M would make them think again.
No it is gating, at your own pace assumes you can do it in a day if you so wish, you couldn’t do these quests as they were daily and they took a month to complete when originally created, I assume you did actually play TBC when it was current?
… Time gating means you can’t progress further no matter how much effort you put. Like the limited coalescing visions and essence parts from chests etc. Stop blizzard boot licking. Conformist
i may be wrong, but the only time gate i remember in tbc was opening the wings of SWP, but that was an event which everyone took part in (and got rich on cause dailies needed gave you gold).
yes, there has been some limited time gating in the past. but you could probably count most of the time gating for the first 8 years of the game on one hand.
NOW however, timegating is basically everywhere.
and no, time sinks are NOT time gates. you mention TBC attunements and collecting fire res gear. they are time sinks. and besides, the attunement was just a quest line. are you saying quests are timegates? :s and yes, the netherdrake was time gated, but as matey says, the drakes were cosmetic, and the dailys there were part of end content to get gold anyway so not really ANYWHERE near the same vein as time gates today.
actually that reminds me, you could collect eggs to get netherwing rep, and they were not limited. you could get as many as you wanted, so no, not even netherwing was timegated.
Exactly, which is why no matter how hard you wanted to, you couldn’t progress the Drake quests to the end, you had to wait and do the quests for a month, thanks for making my point.
And grow up with the Blizzard boot licking comment, you make yourself look and sound like a child.
Good luck getting a sizable amount of people to simultaneously follow you and un-sub. In my case, what I do what my money is up to me and me only. Not some random internet Joe telling me what I can or cannot buy with it. I believe such opinion might be shared by many people.
Indeed you could collect Eggs, but the questline wasn’t solely rep based, you still had to do the dailies to get thru the ranks etc. When the questline was originally created it took a minimum of a month to do, due to the opening of new dailies as you progressed.
I think the issue here is the power creep and that open world mobs just don’t seem to keep up. At the beginning of an expansion, if you pull an extra mob then most of the time you are corpse running a few seconds later. By the time we get to the end of the expansion you can pull the entire zone and not worry about it.
There needs to be some sort of middle ground as elsewise a newly dinged player is going to get crushed in order for a fully geared player to have that frisson of danger.
I always think of the open world as being for the newly dinged player whilst high level raiding/PvP is for the geared players.
Forcing warmode on permanently will very quickly decimate the playerbase in my opinion.
i’ve played wow since end vanilla and havent quit the game once because i had fun with my class/spec or i played some alts here and there if i got bored and felt like i werent an ape playing on a character that is way outdated because of content.
BFA have none of it, i dont enjoy any specs anymore and i am not able to play my alts when i get bored of my main because of this cOrRuPtIoN and the rest of the trash system, first time i quit retail to play classic wow with my GF.
Hope shadowlands will bring the good stuff back, which it seems like it may do, S.A.D times
Timegating is a method used by many MMOs (at least the ones I have played) to artificially stretch out content, so I’d expect it to return in SL.
I definitely agree with a few of your points, but there’s a couple that I really don’t.
The “most” boring? No, not really. I feel like there’s more to do than ever. And it’s friendlier/more convenient than ever. Shadowlands will be even more so by the looks of things. They’re constantly improving, and it shows.
Personally, I like it. It means my new character can start anywhere. I don’t need to follow the same path every single damn time, and choose where I want to go.
The rest of your points I can get on board with. Rep grinds are painful, bots are plenty, and the servers do appear to be deteriorating. I don’t like timegating either, but it is a large part of games like this as I said, as much as it sucks. I just wish they’d dial it back a bit at the very least.
You could only harvest eggs once you had done the grind from hated to neutral. Only 36,000 rep needed to get to that point. Once you were there you could grind eggs if you could find them.
Wasn’t there some flying quests too? So long ago I can’t really remember but I do recall seeing the badge you got for the flying quests in the bank of an old alt
