8.3 Memory leaks

They closed the US thread about the same no-help list.
Set to DX11 legacy, no addons, etc.

They have aboslutely NO IDEA what is happening, after many players did all the clean installs/updates/noadds tests.

GFX: GeForce GT 750M GPU with 2GB of GDDR5

  • opening character tab © ==> 3-5 secs duration picture freezing.
In that case many graphical elements of the char. window are missing.

With the graphic settings I have - I usually get around 50 - 80fps, which is enough to play the game comfortably.

When the issue happens, I can switch to other programs just fine . - but WOW is completely unresponsive. After the few seconds freeze it continues working like nothing happened.
It happens with and without addons (tested) . It happens on ALL my characters.
I has never happened prior to patch 8.3, and it started happening right after patch 8.3 - literally on the day I logged the first time after the patch came online.

Sounds like a lawsuit material to me.

Blizzard please, take the hit and say it. If you can’t, just refund players their respective game time/money and continue on your merry way. Either that or there are people who know their rights and will use them the legal way to enforce them.

If you can fix it, keep us updated. We love this game but neither of us are a charity. Let’s solve our issues like people and not like animals in feudalism.

2 weeks in and no clear answer? Completely stunting progression for 8.3 thanks to this bug, I am so disappointed that not only is there not a fix yet, but such poor communication or update as to when or IF we can expect a fix. What the hell

Got my graphic preset on lowest possible, tried every fix/reinstall on this or other forums, but still my fps drops to 0 and game stop responding during boss fights in Nyalotha. I cant progress with my guild like that and i am so mad about it.
Do something Blizzard fix your shi* ! this is joke :rage: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I’ve as the rest you, tried every fix in the book. NEVER have I encountered so many errors and random crashes and everything started after 8.3. I’ve stopped doing visions all together as the risk of a crash is to high and across 3 characters I’ve lost 3 keys due to this. Raiding is a 50/50 whenever I will crash once or it becomes completly unplayable and I can’t even log in without crashing.

OS: Latest version of Windows10 Home 64bit.
GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX2060 6GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 32GB
Game installed on SSD

Everything is updated and WOW is the only game/program that isn’t working as intended. This is not an issue on my end. I’ve once again canceled my subscription simply due to this being unplayable in any form of group content and horific vision. Crashes also happens very frequently in portal rooms or the heart chamber.

I am playing on German servers. Eredar and antonidas. I have the same problems. In the new raid if we fight trash or for example Vexiona it is unplayable for me.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
Nvidia RTX2080

Windows and all drivers are up to date.
I tried a lot of troubleshooting but I didn’t solve this problem. I think the problem is not on my side. Before patch 8.3 everything was fine.

 Still no replies to anything. No acknowledgements at all, just plain up getting ignored. What a joke of a company you guys have become.

Is it possible from Blizz to give out some debug tool which logs the problems and can send reports?
Or if Blizz so stubborn that the problem is at our side, can not visit some close living players and see the problem by themself?
After 2-3 weeks I don’t see any other solution, if they still think the problem is at our side

STILL happening

Well I for one have cancelled my subscriptions to any and all blizzard affiliated games until I can read on the forums that this graphics “glitch” has been fixed. 2 weeks and still massive disruptions to game play
It ALMOST makes you miss the old lag spikes and queues to get into the game. Warcraft 3 is also unable to play after a forced update to what I assume is supposed to be reforged, but no one paid for reforged and now WC3 is also unplayable ! - So maybe time to start playing Tetris again
or Bubble Bobble - they always worked flawlessly.

I will do the job for developers.

The issue is around player characters loading stats and profiles.
If you by any means use 3D portraits instead of Blizz’s 2D portrait, you will fill up memory because they haven’t set a limit /threshold when should WoW clear out the old cache of that data.

I have " fixed", my problem
Not really fixed, but just plugged the hole so to speak. I use Shadowed Unit Frames and have set all portraits to be 2D. This is keeping WoW memory usage now around 4-5GB at max settings.

I have also quit Twitch and nVidia experience overlay for fps and it’s shadowplay feature. So far it “works” with minor hiccups.

Either way I can still load bunch of addons. And the BUG STILL EXISTS. It’s just that I don’t fill up my 16GB of RAM. But people with less RAM will still definetly crash.

P.S. I’ve set everything at 10 by ingame slider with gtx770. No problems and most of the time 60fps. So it’s not gpu problem. GPU driver hanging is because, probably the driver tries to render all that crappy portrait cache in the background and hangs.

Blizz fix your backyard.

And I hope everyone gets support they rightfully deserve.

Wow
 10 with a gtx 770? I got it at 9 with a 2070S and a Ryzen 3900x.
Btw, no idea where you are getting 60 FPS with that GPU at 10, but not in BfA for sure

Still a thing on modern updated hardware. Fix your game. Friends are still holding off from playing until fixed.

Cannot we provide you with more info about the problem then our os and specs to help you troubleshoot it. In this state I canÂŽt raid or run m+ without getting my teammates screwed. With the trafic this topic has you have a good sample of players experiencing this problem, if we can do more to help solve this any faster tell us please. This silence is almost as annoying as the problem itself.

I said mostly and in new BfA areas i alternate between 45-60fps. I turn down settings for battlegrounds and raids to 6-7.
Glad you have more time to flame me instead of Blizzard. Guess you don’t want to anger them.

Im not flaming you, but you are setting totally unrealistic expectations of achievable FPS for people with a setup close to yours.

i just want to bump this thread and explain my situation.
i have BRAND new i3 9700, a BRAND new motherboard, BRAND new 16gb ram (its fast idk exactly dont @ me) , 960 2gb 3 yo graphics card and wow installed on a brand new ssd. i have had an unimaginable amount of crashes with this new patch, half my addons are dead and im just lost. i have applied every possible fix and im at the end of my wits.
crashes explanation: i get all sort of crashes but the most common one is “access violation” on a completel up to date windows 10 OS.
the crashes happen when i a) open my character sheet after a while or even at the start of the game. b) open transmogrification c) inspecting people d)opening the lfg tool.
i have tried these fixes, and if you get the same problems i hope they do it for you cause they sure as funnel cake didnt do the trick for me:
1)direct x11 legacy, not even worth, problem still here
2)reinstalling: nope
3)repairing: nope
4)clearing all addons, trying new ones, playing without any: nope
5) running everything a administrator : nope
6) trying to think positively and praying to jesus: nope
7) banging my head on the keyboard: nope
8) restarting everything: nope
9) opening up only wow: nope
10) updating drivers: huge nope and a big drag
11)rerolling to outlaw rogue: nope
12) killing nzoth: hopefully soon, maybe he is corrupting my system
i still humor this issue as it very rarely happens in raids or m+ but for the love of god blizzard, please fix this. oh btw i have only encountered these issues AFTER 8.3 and i have all my new parts since christmas, everything worked beautifully in azshara and season 3.

It was not my intention to make it look that way. FPS depends on camera angles and environment you are in. I’d never expect WoW to run in battleground or a raid on full 60fps even with a 1070. Most of my gameplay I have done from and up to bfa zones was 60 fps, aside from WoD in Shadowmoon valley which really tanks it down 30 sometimes.

WoW isn’t that much beefy game as much as devs aren’t optimizing it and should be run by a toaster at this point. Sometimes when I run classic on 4k with full blown MSAA on at 60fps and look at retail @1080p wonder what the hell are they doing with settings that often are not even noticeable.

Anyway ofc it doesn’t run constantly at 60fps. But I won’t say its a crappy performance. I cba to record it but it’s mostly between 45-60fps even in BfA.

The hardware is not an issue for most users. And tech support likes to put a fault on it.

WoWs greatest problem is old as fossil engine and dev management that focuses on dropping beta tests as finished product. After all, why optimize anything when you can just dump 1000 eur for a new gpu.

What are you, europoor?

What’s that?

That is because classic looks like a N64 game compared to Legion and BfA.
They upgraded the engine a lot since 2005.
You have to be real about that, for a 15 year old game it looks pretty decent.
The problem is that it comes at a big cost, because like you said, WoW at it’s core is still a heavily singlethreaded game.
It does not use 4, 6 or even 8+ threads like modern game engines.
That is why the CPU is always bottlenecking in raids etc.
