[9th Dec] Clandestine Gathering – Void Elves & Blood Elves

I guess that was the miscommunication - but the non-elf characters in the area were 5 or 6 as far as I know. From what I understand they were around in case there was some trouble/an ambush (because in-character they suspected that there would be a lot more void elves around) and weren’t meant to have been visibly present but we ended up running into the two guard guys by accident

It wasn’t actually a massive group - like 14 people in total - and there wasn’t actually any attack attempted. The “muh RP PVP” thing people are posting isn’t something that actually occurred this time around

The secluded location that they were informed about by something you personally ran, right? I don’t think calling it secluded in mega relevant with that in mind

Which we did within minutes (because again, we had to plan our next move) so there was honestly no need for the OOC vitriol in /say or the weird forum posting

Honestly it would have been easy to just react IC - we roleplayed being stalled by the people playing guards (despite the number disparity) for quite a long while. It would have been cool to just take that IC and be like “there are sketchy guys in the area, let’s re-position”

In fact, you mention that very scenario in the OP:

So it feels like there were definitely IC plans to deal with trouble that were just not put into place (and would have been more satisfying that arguing in /say)

“Huh, Velves and Belves meeting up? Can’t see how it’s not going to be a sh!tshow…”
The event proceeds to be a sh!tshow
“Well colour me surprised!”

It wasn’t though when the mess had settled, and it wouldn’t have happened if the communication had been better, but mistakes are good to learn from so hopefully people will stop being butt hurt and just make sure both sides are on the same page regarding inviting/telling others about the event

People communicating in a civil manner on the internet?
Now that is just one silly idea you have there!
Drama is more fun!

If I was told OOC beforehand that a possible ambush could be on the cards then I could have briefed those scouts who attended and had them act accordingly. But I was not, again the agreement was that the gathering was to be low key. One where the Blood Elf spies gather information. We had agreed to reach out to you and plan a skirmish for one of the future events, but not this one.

So, when your people stumbled upon the two scouts it caused confusion as it was completely going back on what was planned. I did not want to turn this planned event into an RP-PVP event from the start and so myself and the Highblood organiser agreed to pull back the Horde forces and pretend it didn’t happen. We maybe could have had the scouts retreat and tell the rest of the gathering that there are Horde forces close by, but that would have resulted in the gathering being disbanded before it even started.

I recall a lot. They eventually stormed the gathering and looked intend on killing everyone there, which to be fair is what you would expect a Horde force to do if they came upon a secretive gathering of this sort. I would have been happy to have a skirmish with them, but all I wanted was to be contacted OOC first. Again, the event was a planned one, its outcome was already decided by the organisers and we only wanted people to respect that.

They were told of the location of the Blood Elf contact, the only one who was told of the gathering location, the Blood Elf spies were meant to follow in order to discover the gathering.

It was nearly an hour if I recall right. I used OOC /s with the text between brackets to contact the Blood Elves there telling them it was a planned event. I don’t defend any one who might have vented their frustration through OOC in /say. One of the Highblood organizers were saying people were refusing to move despite them telling them to, which is why it might have took so long.

I go back to my previous point of how the gathering would be disbanded as a result. But regardless, it is only decent to contact the event organiser OOC if you plan to ambush guards involved in the event. This wasn’t done and it resulted in confusion. Again, it was a planned event.

I have stressed throughout this thread that any RP involving combat would need to be discussed OOC, no one contacted me about it, it was pretty much forced upon us. Honestly I have no issue with a skirmish, I wanted one for one of the future gatherings, but I wanted to discuss it OOC first to ensure both parties were left content. I don’t see why this couldn’t have been done.

Regardless, myself and the Highblood organisers have put it behind us. Nothing more needs to be made of it. The event was salvaged and I believe people did enjoy it in the end.

Damn! Finally a drama event and I completely miss it. Oh well! I really hope both parties move on from this and meet again in a future event. I will do my best to show up next time!

I mean to say an ambush from the Alliance there ie. the characters on our side don’t trust void elves and feared an attack

We didn’t really plan on stumbling on them - they were just standing in the open by a bridge that we walked past so we interacted with them

I can probably name every character in the group - it was a lot compared to the rest of the attendance at the time perhaps, but it was around 14-15 people

Yet that didn’t happen + no emotes of that nature were made

Yes, and we walked into the scouts/guards/whatever on our way to the Revantusk Village and interacted with them, and they made it clear that the meeting was in the area (which was true, it was a 30 second walk from where the guards stood)

This is referenced a lot but I have to remind you again that there was no combat RP happening at any point as far as I can recall. You are telling us off for doing something that didn’t actually happen

Because the instant response to what was at best non-violent intimidation was a barrage of OOC in /say

You do not recall right - we spent most of the time attending this talking to the guards (being delayed for a long time as a courtesy) and then walked to the meeting (which was happening very prominently in the middle of a field)

Once the OOC stuff started flying, we were already planning our next move and weren’t at the meeting itself for even close to an hour

Sure, I get that (though you could have used battletag)

The guards weren’t ambushed and again I don’t know why you make a reference to something that didn’t happen. We roleplayed speaking to the guards for a while then moved on. They weren’t attacked - we just happened upon them and roleplayed with them
