The entire event feels uncomfortable as it is unfolding right now. The intention to play out hysteria is interesting, but the resulting mob mentality is causing a lot of foul players to jump the bandwagon and bring out the worst kind of roleplay right now.
turns out i can attend if a little late, HOORAH
Not subbed atm but kind of wish I was for this. Feel free to give a void elf an extra punch from me.
Give 'em hell boys and girls.
Itās just uncontrolled chaos for the sake of uncontrolled chaos.
Sure, it creates RP. But itās not RP that will last or that achieves anything.
What that means is the riot could never have happened, and everything will be pretty much the same tomorrow as if it did.
Chaos for the sake of chaos.
That is entirely down to the roleplayer to be honest, if you take part and disregard it from then on then itās on you to be fair. Roleplay is what you make of it, if your character goes on to have more sympathies with this āriotā or gains some resentment against their bigotry then there is character development for you.
the important thing is what it does for the characters involved (those who are not throwaways) whether it achieves anything or not, so this is kind of an ignorant statement
Seeing roleplayers attempting to ruin the event really makes me scared for the future of ADā¦Is it really all second life rp and Dolmio sauce?
95% of the riot is throwaways. And looking across at the characters that arenāt, theyāre not actually involved. Theyāre just chilling in the background like myself.
I donāt think anyone with a character that isnāt throwaway is actually participating actively.
Stop RPing INSTANTLY! I cannot play my void elf e-gf simulator with all these /YELLS!!!
Letās be honest here, youād need a throwaway character to actually ICly believe marching on the Embassy & the Cathedral are plausible methods of enacting political change.
I donāt think anyones permanent character is that ignorant ICly.
If only you could RP in-game, Dogthing, instead of complaining on the forumsā¦ Iām pretty sure you just stood around awkwardly and then ran away after you got emoted at.
I canāt RP in the spam, itās true.
Then thin the herd they may be throwaways but thatās the point. Itās to give you SOMETHING to do! You can KILL EM. That option EXISTS
the point of a riot
like all rp ever done then
like many memorable events in ADs history
yeah see: riot
Youāre complaining about roleplay on a roleplaying server and making complaints about irrelevant points. Perhaps if you donāt like roleplay actually occurring, you should move to one of the quieter (dead) servers for you to RP with precisely 0x people and experience 0x large-scale events
Although the concept of a riot was really great and suits the 8.3 climate, it seemed a bit too chaotic (in a bad sense, a riot should be chaotic by nature to some extend of course).
The spam was probably a bit too much. It didnāt allow to actually properly reply / RP and interact with the crowd, as the chat was far too filled. I am not sure if the numbers were too high / the amount of people spamming yells were too much. If we had more time to reply and emote in regards to the mob, then that wouldāve been great.
Not sure how to translate it into the future, but maybe downscale the amount of yells happening (not necessarily the amount of players).
I think thatās kind of my point. If someone did [quote=āYoungstorm-turalyon, post:260, topic:123839ā]
Sure, it creates RP. But itās not RP that will last or that achieves anything.

I feel sorry for the RP you get involved in if it offers 0 character progression.
Wrong.
Iām complaining about the execution of an āorganisedā event. Not the production of RP, I applaud perroyās effort of creating a server-wide event on AD.
Edit: Iāll fix this post later.
Not hating on the idea at all by saying that, as I really like the idea of riots. But it was just difficult to actually RP with the mob due to the spam overwhelming the chat.
In fairness, way more people showed up for the riot than was anticipated. But I do agree that the yelling got a bit too much. Itās hard to control, though, even with half the people it would still be.
I think the point is that you make the lasting RP yourself.
