What do people do in WoW that isn’t for the rewards?

I’m currently doing a lore run: start at TBC (sadly, no vanilla in retail) and go through all expansions up until now, just for the lore (I do all the quests, even those that are not needed for Loremaster). You can say that knowledge is it’s own reward, but at least there are no tangible rewards that I’m after.

For me, it’s about the least enjoyable thing I’ve done in WoW, so everything else is better. Previously, my top two were trying to win 10 RBGs for the Legion artifact appearance (took a week and was really, really unfun) and collecting sand in Silithus for honor in vanilla.

Back then, I was trying to get to R14 in the old PvP system and BGs opened maybe once every two hours on my server. There were two other ways to get honor: standing in a watchtower in the Plaguelands, and collecting sand in Silithus. It’s been a long time since and nostalgia softens memories, but I remember that as equally as unenjoyable as the renown 40 grind here.

And then I deleted my account during SL, so it all was for nothing anyway. I really do know better than doing anything in this game that isn’t enjoyable, because at some point all these rewards will be gone anyway, but – here I am, spending my time in Plunderstorm and not having fun. Pretty stupid, really.

Hmm… do you remember where was that said? I somehow remember them saying it’s rather 1-2 raid tiers, would like to revisit that statement, If You remember the source (sadly, I don’t remember it myself )

On the side note, I wonder, why isn’t it possible to start small and expand upon it gradually.

That was worse than plunder storm.

Really bad headaches.

Having them regularly, I think it’s equivalent.

I sat and watched a couple of guildies streaming their Plunderstorm duos for about 10 minutes earlier and that GAVE me a really bad headache, so I got to enjoy both without even playing it.

Hey, I dug around a bit trying to find the source in question, and found this:

This is not an exact answer, but talking about player housing he brings back garrisons and says that making the garrison customizable for players would cost us a raid tier.
This is the closest I could find on the subject of the resource cost of player housing.
