[A-Event] Stormwind Harbor Market

James closed his eyes and swam in the images of the evening to come. The colorful stalls lining the sunset pier and the vibrant banners of this and that vendor dancing playfully to the sea breeze and the hum of the market.

There would be all kinds of goods, the likes James had never seen and never heard of, and the likes he knew to crave until the year after. Alterac manna biscuits! Candy skulls! Conjured mana lollipops – or no, not them, he wouldn’t be allowed to have those things again. James grinned to himself as he recalled the weeks following the previous market, exhausting to his good old mother as he persistently but to no avail tried to convince her to let him become a mage apprentice. In a few years though, she would have no say in that. One day he too would impress people turning nothing into something.

Opening his eyes James studied the large harbor, his legs dangling over the stone edge and kicking flickering shadows upon the golden lion embedded into the wall below. The seaside district had fallen quiet with the decreasing frequency of ships escorting soldiers to some distant lands he didn’t remember the names of. Perhaps the rumoured entertainment such as the summer dances his elder sister so eagerly anticipated with that silly twinkle in her eyes, and all the noisy games and the heated haggling would liven up the place to its former self, even if just for one night.

All that aside, there was one special thing James hoped to see at the market above anything else, more than any mouth-watering treat or the hilarious incidents of the proud and bold turned clowns by their own hand. It was to see his mother smile again – one of those real smiles, not the kind that only served to reassure everyone around her that she was alright - after they received news in late winter that James’s father would not be coming home from the war.

It’s up to you if the little James’s dreams come true.

I haven’t roleplayed on the Alliance side much for a while and with all the recent discussion about faction roleplay and Stormwind, I came to remember the market event held in the SW harbor in 2016. It went quite well, shall we give it a reprise?

If you would like to host a stall or provide some entertainment or service for people, please post here or send me a message! You are welcome to spontaneously set up a stall upon arriving to the event too. It could be pretty much anything from baked goods to fortune telling to the draenic version of Indian head massage (idk if it involves cold face tendrils). In the case of potentially illegal goods try apply common sense regarding what might get your character in trouble in a public place with guards around.

As our offices are located at Stormwind City Harbour, we will of course support this idea to try and make it fluorish. As well, delightful to hopefully see a smiling Acrona once more?

Alliance Salvaging and Procurement will be there to support!

Regards,

Director Jeremy S. Lochton

Unfortunately Acrona is still pretending to be a sleeping beauty somewhere in the distant continent and too drowsy to join the market…

Thank you, looking forward to seeing your lot there!

This looks like fun, I may drop by and open a stall with a Dark Iron doing some horrendous art for others but thinking they’re the bee’s knees (you know how it is with paint). Looking forward to it!

You guys warm my heart :slightly_smiling_face:

I will make a list in the opening post about the stalls that people would like to do and any entertainment/activities. It’s great to see some people already up for it! Edit: added - if there’s any corrections to be made please let me know!

Ontop of hosting dances inspired by some medieval themed social dances I’ll draw some item images to represent in-character items that characters can get - not sure yet if they’ll be auctioned or raffled somehow. I’ll show a few items on the weekend!
