Pvp works with rating though and if you fail a bg you either get nothing at all or even lose rating. There is a much higher chance of failing in pvp.
It’s a bit too RNG for my liking. When I leveled my main (warrior) about 2 months after SL release (swapped mains), I got geared pretty fast using honor gear (200 in 1 weekend). I did a few M+ and got a 223 weapon in my vault and a 207 from a NW run. It then took me 7 (!!) weeks to get another weapon drop. I literally got 0 from raid, 0 from M+ and 0 from the vault while having 3 slots almost every week. Then the next 5~6 vaults I got 3x 226 weapons. To top it off 2x226 1h weapons (prot spec) in the same vault which I had to drop for a 226 IQD with leech…
I just want less RNG on this.
because it’s not about the effort but the RNG and non agency.
why did my 200 ilvl alt dk that I capped exactly once get a 226 bis wep in the vault from M+ while my main went through 6 resets with 2-3 slots unlocked and not one weapon showed up, but hey at least I got a bunch of mediocre sidegrades and minor upgrades from a bunch of 226 rings, necks, cloaks that replaced my 220 ones with bis stats.
Some of us got REALLY bad luck
A bit of topic: this issue came when we got m+. We “need” close to top gear to push and have fun in m+.
Maybe we should all sign up to tourment realm so we dont have to worry about gear, just the skill
Because valor will never equate to BiS. Which it should since you’re putting in the work, no? No. 220 is not good enough. We want BiS for the work put in. Not “good enough”.
Disagree completely. I wasn’t even talking about BiS. There is no way BiS should come from valor. You’re literally saying “I did tons of emissaries, I deserve BiS”. No.
As angry as I am to have been waiting for 226 gloves for 3 months you know just like me that a system like that would be abused on day 1 if the players could somehow influence the outcome of the vault. For instance if your character was scanned to see what you need when you open the vault people could literally snipe what they want.
I do agree that it’s BS that M+ players have basically no way of obtaining or targeting the pieces they want in 226, sure 15s are not that hard but 20s should reward 226.
Adding a stat priority would help, so you could rank secondary stats, e.g. vers/haste/crit/mastery and if it decided it was going to give you something for a slot it would prioritise based on secondary stats. Nothing makes me feel sadder on my VDH than seeing something with mastery as the highest stat.
- remove Vault completely
- uncapped valor acquisition
- valor gains increasing by 10 per key level (M+2 = 20 valor, M+15 = 150 valor) instead every level giving same amount
- Gear can be upgraded to 226.
- Progressive upgrade cost as you go up the level. Low cost to upgrade low ilvl gear, higher cost every time as you approach 226.
Add these changes and no one will complain about m+ loot EVER again.
Gives m+ fanatics ability to gear to 226 by their grind and agency, still can’t get bis gear as raid gives 233 to which they don’t have access.
Gives players incentive to grind instead waiting for vault god to bless them.
NOBODY cares about casual andys logging in 1 hour a week to do one mythic+ dungeon and get their 226 item.
AWARD THE GRIND as the grind is the literal point of this game.
I like your ideas, it wouldn’t feel like our time is wasted.
Somehow I can predict it would be problematic for the world first mythic raid race tho.
Emissaries should award 0 valor. M+ should be the only source of valor. Everyone’s happy. If you don’t want to do m+ raid or pvp, then you don’t need gear to begin with.
Sucks to be force to be casual andy! And 100% agree.
The problems with loot began when the primary source of gearing is your weekly lottery machine.
Players want to go to a dungeon or raid, get the piece they want and be done. Not do it for the sake of that one final weekly random nonsense which often times is a repeated piece you saw 5 times in a row that’s not even your bis and is just a garbage useless piece.
Once gearing comes back to the ACTUAL CONTENT and not a lottery machine, things will go back to normal.
Either that, or just a pve vendor.
is not so simple sadly.
The hard problem is that there isn’t a defined barrier between m+ and raid unlike PVE and PVP.
That is why the vault exists to prevent mythic+ to be required for raids since it is infinitely farmable.
Imagine guilds need to full spam mythic+ to get full mythic gear to then kill mythic raid.
i guess the solution is quite simply now isn’t it?
1- If the gear’s coming from the dungeon itself and not a vendor, simply cap it. Once a week like raid.
2- If it’s a vendor, cap the currency.
problem solved.
If you’re worried about the difficulty being badly interpreted or stuff like that, they have all the data in the world.
They know how long each encounter takes, the percentage of successful runs and failed runs, the number of players that can finish a certain level, etc.
It’s not difficult to calibrate things accordingly. Even a novice analyzer can come up with a balanced solution for the reward structure.
They just don’t do it.
This elusive lottery machine is what they think the players want. They don’t understand the meaning of progression or the meaning of working towards something.
The developers or the ones enforcing this system (Not sure which is which anymore) are disconnected from the playerbase completely.
They could do that but it would make mythic plus lose one of the core aspects infinite farmable. Why would people keep spamming key if they would get nothing because they are capped or the weekly item already dropped?
The most efficient and less complicated would be separate PVE, so instead of PVP and PVE set you would have Mythic+, Raid and PVP set. Each one weak on the other type of content.
Just let people level their Mythic plus itens with valor to 226, like PVP can with honor but make it bad on raid.
But I doubt Blizzard would take this approach cause the flame and hate for PVE people would just explode.
Overall the main problem is that Mythic plus is infinite spammable and vault was just a way (failed or not) to try to cap it.
Kind of funny that you say that about spamming keys, while the same thing’s going on with raid.
Why should one be infinitely spammable while the other one isn’t?
This whole infinite grinding potential is what led to this lottery machine in the first place.
Honestly, the BEST week of shadowlands was week one, before mythic+ started. People just did mythic dungeons to gear up and it was fantastic.
Also, Three gears is a bad idea. That’s a huge number of bag slots.
They need to remove vault from the game and put the item lvl into dungeons…cause i want to play dungeons
I often find myself in situation that i want to play but when i think about doing +15 key for loot
and i see that its only 210 its not worth my time…
BFA was in this better becuase i could spam dungeons how many times i wanted on my alts and there was always interesting drop
Yes there was bfa chest
but hear me out
when you started progressing your character in the begining of season
the loot from dungeons was 10ilvl lower then chest so you could progress your character by doing the content…
bfa chest was in my opinion good BONUS to have but the loot was mainly from dungeons
at certain point there was no upgrade from dungeon and only from chest
but during progresion you could feel that you getting upgrades from dungeons
The main reason Mythic is infinite spammable was to try to shut out the PVE community who cried that there was nothing to do on the game, apart from waiting one week for reset.
So blizzard gave them something they could do infinitely like PVP can do with an arena and bgs, but they didn’t find a decent way to minimize the impact of one on the other.
arenas and bg’s are infinite, but their reward isn’t. Same should have happened with pve.
After the weekly cap, you get gold. Or maybe anima. Or some cosmetic only stuff or something.
A thing to make the run, not be completely useless. But also mitigate the gear drop.
