A Monthly Sub to Watch the Game Rot!

At this point, it honestly feels like Blizzard is gaslighting its own player base. We’re paying for a sub, buying expansions, and still constantly being funneled toward a cash shop where the best-looking mounts and cosmetics are locked behind paywalls. And what do we get in-game? Sloppy recolors. Lazy, uninspired knockoffs of shop items that don’t even match the original aesthetic. It’s like they want you to feel dissatisfied unless you pay extra.

Even PvP isn’t safe. Seasonal rewards—mounts, transmogs, titles—are permanently locked with no way to earn them again. So if you missed out on a Gladiator mount or a vicious saddle reward? Too bad. No second chance. No grind. Nothing. It’s gone forever, not because you didn’t earn it, but because you couldn’t afford to buy into the patch at the time. Blizzard wants these rewards to be exclusive, but what they really are is predatory FOMO bait.

And it’s not like there’s no solution—they could easily implement a system similar to the vicious saddle, where past PvP rewards could become available again through effort. Let players grind for older mounts if they missed the original season. Let new players have a way in. It’s not about handing things out—it’s about giving people access to content they paid for, just at a different time. Not everyone can drop 70+ euros every patch cycle just to stay current. In today’s economy, people are already struggling to meet basic needs, and Blizzard thinks it’s fine to charge a premium for the privilege of not missing out? That’s beyond scummy—it’s completely out of touch.

And the Trading Post? It started off promising, but lately it’s just another exercise in corner-cutting. Half the items each month are slippers, skirts, or the same recolored assets on repeat. Where’s the variety? Where’s the creativity? It’s gone—because Blizzard is hoarding the truly desirable, high-effort items for the cash shop. The Trading Post should be a tool to keep players engaged in the game—but instead it feels like we’re being drip-fed scraps while all the good stuff gets labeled “limited time” and shoved into paid bundles.

Meanwhile, actual content? Where? Delves? Five-minute assault events? Dragonflight’s feast grind? This isn’t meaningful gameplay. It’s filler. There’s no innovation. No world PvP experiences like Wintergrasp or Tol Barad. No large-scale modes that bring players together. At least in BFA and Legion we had something new—visions, expeditions, warfronts. Now it’s just recycled systems wrapped in new buzzwords.

It’s not burnout. It’s boredom. We’re not tired of playing WoW—we’re tired of Blizzard giving us less and charging us more. Every new patch feels like a gamble: will I have to pay extra for the fun part this time? We’re not customers anymore—we’re ATMs. And Blizzard’s only innovation lately has been finding new ways to withdraw.

This is a summarized post of popular topics mostly negatively impacting players in the game, link to these posts discussing said topics are here:

Why does PVP rewards go away but Mythic raiding rewards dont?’

Past Elite Sets : Make them content you can earn with a token you receive similar to the vicious saddle.

Not only I’m not against Blizzard’s recent attempts to create more options for solo players, I’d encourage them to push them further

Let us buy past Elite PVP sets!

Using FOMO Rewards as a Way to Keep People Playing is Lame

The fatal flaw in wows transmog system; too many recolors instead of a dye system.

Lazy variety in trading post content…

Whats up with these limited time transmogs?

If you buy the longer sub you don’t pay monthly. I buy the yearly one, take the (slightly reduced) hit all at once then it feels like I’m playing for free.

Plus you get a bunch of the store stuff included in the price.

with all respect,
PvP sets need to be earned.

we cant be giving them to every player after the season is over. it devalues it.

and thats the last thing PvP needs right now, if that happened 90% of players would not play during the season and the queue times would be worse.

Sometimes i wonder if someone is squatting in the dev office.

MAKE THE MOUNTS COST MORE. ADD A FOURTH CURRENCY. REMOVE FUN. every reset.

I’m convinced the cash shop is actually a test. They are running an experiment to see how much a human will tolerate before spontaneously combusting.

I’m not even mad. It’s emotional damage like the rest of us.

There was no mention of “handing out PVP items” there was a mention of earning it and not locking it behind a wall to let old content “rot away” to feed someone’s ego go,so new players can grind out old sets and returning players can get what they missed in past PVP seasons. There would an incentive to get non-PVP people playing PVP too and participate in PVP events and such.
Or there would be a way to earn and grind out old PVP sets in another way.
I don’t know what you’ve read but as written; this post was a summary of other posts which highlighted the problematic aspects of the game.
If you care read the following posts linked here that’s all I can say.

Edit:
Here is another posts highlighting the issue:

But as I geather MMORPG players who are attracted to the MMORPG genre are mainly interested in PVE content so it’s natural that PVP would only speak to a small sub section of this group so most people not participating in PVP should not be hard locked out of said rewards.

100% agree with everything being said here and in the links provided

Of course it is, that and the trading post. I’m amazed that people don’t see that we are already changed over to a season pass like game already. We get less content yet still end up paying more if we buy store items.

Before they fully commit they want to see just how important cosmetics/mounts are to people and how much are they willing to pay. First it was the bruto with a big price tag, then the Meeksi pack (That didn’t seem to sell as well I never see anyone with it?)

it’s actually terrifying how spot on this is. we’re not even speculating. we’re watching it unfold in real time.

It’s simple – you vote with your money. You don’t need to buy anything from the shop, just let everything there rot. I think I can count on one hand how many times I’ve ever bought anything from it. Honestly, the shop is the cancer of the game – instead of complaining about it, people should just actively avoid using it.

Honestly, the whole game needs a full reboot, because in its current state it just feels completely hollow to me. Ever since WoD, the gap in the community has only kept getting bigger and bigger.

My one-month subscription is about to expire, and I don’t think I’ll renew it until a bigger, more interesting patch comes out. I started this expansion with high hopes. I thought, “Chris Metzen is finally coming back, maybe things will finally start heading in a good direction.” But unfortunately, they didn’t.

That says more about you. It’s tripe.

We have always been paying a ‘monthly’ sub so I dont see the issue, you now get stuff for playing. Players asked for loyalty (ie subbing) rewards; the trading post does that.

Cash shop mounts have always been better designs, however they have upped their game with the trading post, even going some old cha shop mounts away.

My concern is the extra currency for cash that they certainly do intend to play a wider role.

It is mmorpg .you can’t have everything in game and that is okay

That’s not entirely true. Vicious saddle mounts can still be earned and bought it just takes a lot of time if you missed out on seasons. If you have never done it before it would take over 2000 3 vs 3 arena wins at 1k rating to buy all the mounts. Honestly i would prefer if there was no rating requirement to obtain vicious saddle mounts and the new pvp toys.

Who needs this value? Are you going to flex in front of AH like look i was able to reach 1800 in lets say shadowlands? Nowadays in retail nobody gives a damn what sets do other people have, everybody cares only what sets do they have themselves.

I personally have some elite pvp sets and other unobtainable pieces and I have 0 problem if somebody could obtain it now.

Its true, the other people might as well not exist or be AI or something. Afking in town to gain que for mode to do it with strangers and go next. Its just solo game for pvp now. Only socializing happens outside the game. Sad but true. Its not like there is some team on mounts with their rares and known by name and ppl are like “hey look all what those guys are wearing” that all is long gone from wow

If you think any of the shops cosmetics look good then… Is something wrong with you?

About the worse stuff they’ve ever made

the value isnt about other people and how they look at you, the value is the time investment and the value YOU put on the set that you achieved.

if you remove the value by giving it to everyone, no1 will bother wasting their time in the season achieving it. they could get it after the season ends.

this would REDUCE player participation .

its simple logic.

if you dont understand that, fine, push for this change, but dont cry when there is less players playing PvP during the season.

From my understanding, thats what PvP people want, because of prestige.

I think he means that the rewards shouldn’t be locked behind “participated during set time limit”, not “paticipate in pvp”.

It’s not that I don’t like pvp in general, after all in GW2 I heavily enjoy WvW, its just that WoWs pvp is so unbelievably bad.
