At this point, it honestly feels like Blizzard is gaslighting its own player base. We’re paying for a sub, buying expansions, and still constantly being funneled toward a cash shop where the best-looking mounts and cosmetics are locked behind paywalls. And what do we get in-game? Sloppy recolors. Lazy, uninspired knockoffs of shop items that don’t even match the original aesthetic. It’s like they want you to feel dissatisfied unless you pay extra.
Even PvP isn’t safe. Seasonal rewards—mounts, transmogs, titles—are permanently locked with no way to earn them again. So if you missed out on a Gladiator mount or a vicious saddle reward? Too bad. No second chance. No grind. Nothing. It’s gone forever, not because you didn’t earn it, but because you couldn’t afford to buy into the patch at the time. Blizzard wants these rewards to be exclusive, but what they really are is predatory FOMO bait.
And it’s not like there’s no solution—they could easily implement a system similar to the vicious saddle, where past PvP rewards could become available again through effort. Let players grind for older mounts if they missed the original season. Let new players have a way in. It’s not about handing things out—it’s about giving people access to content they paid for, just at a different time. Not everyone can drop 70+ euros every patch cycle just to stay current. In today’s economy, people are already struggling to meet basic needs, and Blizzard thinks it’s fine to charge a premium for the privilege of not missing out? That’s beyond scummy—it’s completely out of touch.
And the Trading Post? It started off promising, but lately it’s just another exercise in corner-cutting. Half the items each month are slippers, skirts, or the same recolored assets on repeat. Where’s the variety? Where’s the creativity? It’s gone—because Blizzard is hoarding the truly desirable, high-effort items for the cash shop. The Trading Post should be a tool to keep players engaged in the game—but instead it feels like we’re being drip-fed scraps while all the good stuff gets labeled “limited time” and shoved into paid bundles.
Meanwhile, actual content? Where? Delves? Five-minute assault events? Dragonflight’s feast grind? This isn’t meaningful gameplay. It’s filler. There’s no innovation. No world PvP experiences like Wintergrasp or Tol Barad. No large-scale modes that bring players together. At least in BFA and Legion we had something new—visions, expeditions, warfronts. Now it’s just recycled systems wrapped in new buzzwords.
It’s not burnout. It’s boredom. We’re not tired of playing WoW—we’re tired of Blizzard giving us less and charging us more. Every new patch feels like a gamble: will I have to pay extra for the fun part this time? We’re not customers anymore—we’re ATMs. And Blizzard’s only innovation lately has been finding new ways to withdraw.
