A New Raid Mode for Classic Era?

There’s always debate about GDKP and the World Buff meta in Classic, with solutions often canceling each other out. But what if we could introduce a new raid format that works alongside these systems? A format that adds challenge without disrupting existing metas, like Heroic and Mythic raiding. Let’s call it Veteran Raid in lack of a better name.

Key Features:

1. Shared ID with Regular Raids:

• Veteran Raids share the same raid ID as regular raids.
• Veteran mode only work for 40 man raids.
• One can’t switch to Veteran mode inside the raid.

2. World Buff & Chronobon Restrictions:

• Chronobon cannot be used inside Veteran raids.
• Active world buffs will be removed upon entry.
• Stored world buffs remain stored.

3. Trash & Boss Mechanics:

• If no bosses are killed, all trash respawns on re-entry, preventing pre-clearing with world buffs.
• Once saved in Veteran mode, you cannot switch back.

4. Loot System – “Need Before Greed”:

• Only Need Before Greed works in Veteran mode.
• Epics cannot be traded after being looted.
• Gold can’t be traded within this mode.

5. Salvation Buff Disabled:

• Salvation Buff is removed to ensure faction balance.
  (This is my biased opinion, else it will be way to easy and rewarding for Alliance)

6. Loot Drops – Double the Rewards:

• 2x loot from bosses (e.g., Maexxna drops 4 items instead of 2).
• Quest items, like Nefarian’s Head, only drop 1x.

That’s it. No extra mechanics or changes to bosses, just restrictions on buffs and trading plus the extra loot for motivation.

And since Blizzard can do whatever they want, you add cherry on the top: “GDKP raids in Veteran Mode is illegal and will get all your WoW accounts instantly deleted.”

I could see tight guilds using this mode to gear up members faster or boost their chances of looting rare items such as Bindings in MC. On low-pop servers, where world buffs are scarce, this mode would be especially appealing.

At the same time, you can still run traditional world buff and GDKP raids. Veteran Raids offer a challenging alternative without replacing the existing meta.

Whatever you do to SOD or Fresh is just fine, but leave Era alone.

His entire point is he wants double the epics dropping while not getting world buffs and being able to “need” on bis items even if not deserving of them. Everything else is just bells and whistles.
