A plea to Blizzard : Please bring back the green fire visuals for the Soul Shards

I managed yesterday to get the green fire visuals on my warlock ( despite having unlocked them years ago on an alt), and it wasn’t long before all my excitement transformed into disappointment.

You see, I remembered precisely that along with unlocking shiny new green spells, our UI changed as well, and I also remember the soul shards (back then called burning embers) changing also color.

This is how they look now in BFA imgur .com/a/7wt10ZL You can see that my spells are green but the shards are purple.

This is from a video of MOP I found on YouTube imgur. com/a/5Xwke7gAnd here the shards changed color to green.

I hopped on discord to ask for directions and some people pointed me towards a glyph, to be exact Glyph of Fel-Touched Shards but this was not it, this glyph makes only the embers fly over your head in a green color.

I know it might seem like a stupid request but it was such a good detail, and the purple shards just feel off with the whole green UI.

Well in your MoP picture it is not soul shards, it was Ember Shards or Burning Embers like you said. Nowaday that doesn’t exist anymore and only “souls” remain. And purple makes more sense for souls-like things than green imo.
So I don’t see anything off, to be honest.

I knew someone would reply like this, but why does it make more sense purple? It doesn’t though, Its fel fire after all, it corrupts everything, even the soul.

Strangers soul is a mystery + Arcane ( aka hidden, mysterious) magic is purple = Purple soul shards

Still, doesn’t make sense, as I already replied we become imbued with fel magic. Which is green.

Yet, it doesn’t make any sense for a Northshire cleric’s soul to contain fel.
Soul is a nice thing, probs arcane in nature, definitely better than fel.

The magic mostly used is fel yes, but I don’t think the “soul” magic is imbued with it, I more or less see it as a stayed “pure or arcanic” state

Quite frankly it doesn’t make sense still, the concept of burning embers was pretty much the same of soul shards. So that doesn’t really answer why they were green before and cant be now too. Besides we are talking about aesthetics here where something is clearly more appealing than something else, and where by chance it also makes sense lore wise.

Not sure if this will help:

Well, even your only “soul” spell doesn’t take the Fel fire. Dark Soul Instability. I really see that as a choice to separate the 2 school of magic. And since the concept of Ember Shards are discarded, imo Soul Shards should stay purple

No, he/she already told it is not about the hovering shards, but the shards below your life and mana bars.

I never used this glyph, maybe it changes that as well? I know some other glyphs change the icons of some abilities.

Unfortunately not, had to spend 3k gold to find out myself

Looking at the second last paragraph the OP already tried it

Damn, I am slacking on my reading xD

We are warlocks and we from the many things that we can manipulate there is fel too, and where is it written that it doesn’t corrupt the soul? It’s from the soul that we channel all of our spells so it makes sense for it to be fel imbued

Well it is written on the description of the Codex of Xerrath itself : “Corrupt all of your Warlock fire spells” So they stayed true to that, that’s my only guess.
I for myself would also like to have Dark Souls being green… As it is weird having red fire around you while weaving in fel fire…

Nowhere.

The soul shards of warlock victims can be pure as a kitten tear for all I care.
You definitely won’t generate corrupted soul shards from holy priest in pvp or holy pal

Unlike arcane magic the use of fel magic corrupts the user’s body and soul.

Taken from the wikia.

Users is a key word.
Soul shards aren’t part of the soul (is there any?) of a warlock

Soul Shards were originally items held in the player's inventory and were required to cast many important spells, including summoning any demon besides an imp, summoning other players, and creating Healthstones. They were generated by using Drain Soul on an appropriately-leveled mob.

But the soul shards that we hold may also be imbued with fel energies, we are manipulating fel energies, and fel corrupts everything it touches. Let alone the warlock’s own conjures.
