Hey. I am sure you all want to get your alts/alternative covenants caught up. Apparently, you can get some decent renown by just spamming layer 5 of Torghast. No need to bother gathering up anima power, just rush towards the end of every floor and throw all damage cooldowns onto the elite there. You can complete this in like 5 minutes, and even at renown 70+ it gave me a decent chance at looting a token. Additionally, it showers you in soul ash in case you still need that for any of your characters.
I know a lot of people use the brawl lately, but it is not the only way of doing so! With queue times, possible bad teammates and such taken into consideration, this could arguably be faster if you remain focused on it. There’s an example run of mine that I chose to record, if anyone’s curious:
The gameplay’s perhaps not the best, but that only shows you could probably optimise this method to get sub-4 minutes per run on something like a demon hunter!

This sounds to me like the type of work around which is why this game is a flop these days…
where was the supposed theorycrafters to spot this one during design ?
Its normal yo find a shortcut, the problem is the game design forcing us to do bad , booring content
I don’t think anyone considers Renown levels cutting edge progress at this point. Raising it swiftly is simply a matter of practicality.
that is what i mean… i didnt mean what u guys are doing is bad… but the fact u have to resort to boring methods to beat the systems because they arent interesting.

Imagine you’re able to do 5 renown level in 10 minutes. I’m pretty sure noone is getting bothered by that.
Its simple, easy and quickly.
Any borrowed power system that gates players powerlevel behind something other than level or itemlevel is such a system.
And well, Blizzard is hellbent on keeping these systems.

Do you think it will? The brawl seems more likely to get hit first, since more people use that and it allows you to get the renown levels while semi-afking on a fresh alt without the slightest chance of losing.
If I had to bet money on it, I’d wager Comp Stomp won’t be touched given how it’s a “once in a few months” thing as well as uses the same droprates as regular BGs give, which potentially would mean either they nerf both Comp Stomp as well as regular BGs or nerf neither.
That being said, I’m just too cynical regarding anything WoW related currently. Chances are neither Comp Stomp nor Torghast will get touched regarding Renown droprates.
if you are levelling do the bonus quests, 16 guaranteed renown (buy 40 token first) . I hit 60 at 69 renown last night.

Blues already said the renown from comp stomp is intended. The Torghast renown has been there since 9.1, it’s not a new thing in 9.1.5, so that’s not going to see a nerf, either.

Why layer 5? Can’t you spam 1 instead? Does lower layers have less chance to give a renown? Thanks for the info btw, Didn’t think about doing this.

Lower layers have lower chance to drop renown, yes. L5 is fast, and still has a decent chance. But if you can run a higher layer in a similar amount of time, even better.

Edit: Tried 4 and only got 1, not fast enough for me to be interested, alas. But I am past the age and ability of farming the same thing all day 
I did this 2 months ago when I swapped to Necro. 0-55ish renown was like 95% drop chance. Spammed L5 all day, it is even easier on a stealth class. Since then I swapped over to Kyrian (again) but this time I didn’t want to step foot in that tower so I waited for 9.1.5.
they dnt care because renown was coming so fast passively anyway that people who actively played game didnt care abiout it in first place.
want example ? i got to 75 renown before patch on my lock from just doing lfr 2 times and clearing basic campagin + doing few dungeons and world bosses.
how ? if you did it woudl would notice that below renown 40 stuff was droping you like 3-4 renown levels from each thing you did.
Yes torghast is the way. I would also consider two things…
If youre focusing on pvp or planning to gear up for pvp…go to brawl while its up…its a nice honor farm and even a little bit of conquest.
Do that till 50-52…then torghast all the way up.
If youre focusing pve …torghast is the fastest …i would also consider one more thing which is…if youre geared …meaning around 240ilvl…dont do layer 5…go farm layer 9…it will net you overall a huge amount of soul cinders for legendarys or sockets. While its still the same method…run trough everything to last boss.
this will be nerfed within a week bad for MAUs
