A Review of Midnight's current UI: A Promising Start That Can't Yet Replace a Legacy

M+ is this:

You have a timer. You have to get into the dungeon. Pull as big as your party (and you) can survive in order to finish the dungeon as fast as possible.

Infront of you, you have some packs. That do some stuff. Its up to YOU, the tank, to decide how you want to navigate that.

Take Pack A and C. Or B and D… up to you. Just pack A. Pack A, B, C, and D all at once. Your choice. Every choice has benefits and disadvantages. Which change depending on key level and your party.

Now. If you prefer to play a dungeon as if it was a Raid. OK. Be my guest. But dont complain, or pretend like things are supposed to work another way.

I always write “slow/chill run” or “for oldtimers” in my group descriptions, but sadly many ppl can’t read and complain afterward anyway, which is annoying and ruins the fun of the game for me.

Absurd thing is - most of the time you cna perfectly time a run by playing ti slow, because noone dies that way, while the mass pull runs just have more deaths and end up at the same timer at the end. So why not just play carefully?

The people that dont know how to download an addon dont need an addon to begin with. It IS 100% fair.

And you think navigating through an “Options” page that will be as long as a bible is any better than going through Curse Forge?

PLEASE.

And you think that people will suddenly start, because they will be in-game?

Google search.

You already have the same option, addons are free.

Because NOBODY plays M+ for that. Im sorry.

Let me put it another way. You go to a Bar. On the finals of the Soccer Eurocup.

You walk into that bar. And you try to tell people to play some chess with you.

And you are surprised that nobody wants to do that with you? REALLY?

Ehm…no you can’t. Keys above KSM exist. You can absolutely fail a run with 0 deaths.

Yes absolutely. I’ve had several questions about how to navigate some obscure manu of some silly addon - never found a guide how to manage those; about the in game options, there will be plenty of information to be found or one can just ask in chat - because evrybody will have the same menu.

?? Plater has a default option. VohDoo has a default option. DBM has a default option.

Plus. GOOGLE the stuff please. I mean… i have fixed computers by googling “how to fix a Lenovo Yoga Slim”.

Wanna know how Plater works?

Here. Let me google that for you:

What century do you live in? What do you do when you have to write a document on Word and dont know how to split a page?

Guess what people will do in Midnight?

THIS… This is what they will do.

Yeah, but just because keys scale endlessly, it doesn’t mean the game intends you to run those. At some point, they just can no longer be completed. Maybe with midnight that mark will be reached earlier. Doesn0t really matter anyway if it’s a key level where no better loot drops, those aren’t required anyway.

The game fully intends you to reach 3k score for the last reward, which is half 13s and half 12s at the minimum. 13s and 12s can be depleted with 0 deaths.

What’ so hard to understand about that I want to play the game as it’s meant to be played? WoW was always an exception from most games by allowing players to meddle with the game itself and how it is presented. In most games you can’t even change how your action bars are set up and people in WoW freak out if they can so longer change the color of their name plates. It’s absurd. I want to play the game without having to add stuff from outside the game into it, because that’s how the devs intend players to play the game.

I know. I dont understand it either.

THIS is how M+ is intended to be played. And you insist on saying the contrary.

Raids and Delves are intended to be played the way you describe.

AND… addons are absolutely not needed for the keys you play at. EVER. Even if you pull 20 mobs at a time.

So what is the big deal? What is your narrative here?

I find it hard to understand why you are playing a tank or M+ in general. Like no offense but you do not seem to either invested in playing M+ with this sentance

And looks like you are only there for the loot.

And as for the tank thing… You are hoping that the rest of the tank players start playing similarly to you, even though you are 1 of the most unorthodox tank players I have ever met without even considering that maybe just maybe they don’t want that.

I want everybody to play the game as it’s meant to be, so it becomes less stressful again as it was when I started playing and it was way more fun back then. With ppl playing on higher difficulty forcing devs to come up with harder mechanics, those also trickle down to lower difficutly content, making it harder for casuals. That’s also why we need an even playing field with addons.

It’s quickest to get into groups as a tank. :man_shrugging: And I can move mobs into places where I want them to stand. I don’t really like playing dps… and dps is stressful because you always have to compete with the other two dps in the same group and get flamed if your dps is lowest… can’t happen to you as tank or healer. xD

Have to play M+ because there you have the smallest groups. Don’t have the patience to wait for 19 other ppl to finally play the game… but solo delves are boring without other ppl, so M+ is a nice middle ground.

We already are.

It won’t.

More and more casuals are getting their +10s and Mythic vault slots than ever before, +10s/old 20s used to be achieved by only 10-5% of the playerbase, last season it was over 40 close to 50%. This season is easier.

I’m only there for the transmog, actually. Nothing else in WoW matters, because it just gets resett with a new season. Farming gear for stats is a waste of time.

That’s simply not possible.
If Blizzard continues to give players access to their API, those players will keep coming up with ways to break mechanics. So your argument is just not applicable.

Agree to disagree.

Because honestly, we’ve been over this again and again.
You keep bringing up the same arguments and I disagree that those arguments are factual.

We’ll just see what happens.

Yep.

I don’t need any. I never claimed I did.

Yes. Without crutches. Without ‘legal cheats’.
As some here like to say: Git gud. :smirk: :kissing_heart:

Ahm. Tanks and Healers tend to get flamed way more than DPS do. A lot of people also claim that tanks and healers are way more stressful roles than DPS.

Not in my experience. :man_shrugging: I’ve been told I’m a good tank or healer in the past… never happend to me as dps.

And what’s wrong with that? What if you don’t like the fact that things like Holy Power and Soul Shards are locked to your character portrait? The base UI won’t let you move it, and the personal resource bar can’t be moved either. What if you don’t like the useless empty space between hotbar slots because the base UI won’t allow for a padding distance lower than 2? What if you don’t like the standard nameplates because of their shape, size, font, etc? What’s wrong with people wanting to make their UI more readable to them? The issue people have with all of this is that they don’t trust Blizzard to add the level of customization that they want to have, and why would they? I had to make a bug report a few days ago because the CD tracker is STILL broken and didn’t track my resto shaman buffs properly. I actually had to go back to using WeakAuras because of that. I don’t get why people went from “encounters shouldn’t be made around using combat addons” to being so spiteful about people customizing their UI elements to fit their needs.
