[A-RP] Amirdrassil - New Home, New Hope 🌳

A warmly welcomed night of crafting and socializing with old and new faces alike. The “Crafting Connections” initiative was great, because such opportunities are to be treasured. Sometimes… people just need an excuse to gather and share cool stories with each other. And I am happy that’s exactly what I’ve been a part of tonight! :raised_hands:

Sincere thanks for organizing!

Agree Jaiare, it was wonderful to see so many new and old faces there! Very chill with plenty of conversations ongoing. Thank you Morningtide and Tiaryn for hosting the workshop!

Next we turn our gazes from the boughs to the underground.

An event aimed at druidic characters, though their trusted friends are also welcome to come along to spectate.

The event begins with a ceremony honoring the Wild Gods, after which the druids move to building their sleeping chambers in Amirdrassil’s Barrow Dens, aided by wisps capable of animating trees and expanding themselves into rough-hewn structures of living wood and stone. The already existing nooks in the Barrow Dens will be used to illustrate the relative position of the dens, but it’s stressed that these player-made chambers are headcanon similar to people using in-game buildings for different purposes (homes, guild quarters, shops, etc).

People will be given the opportunity to emote the construction of their druid’s den, illustrating with words how it will look.

Example: ‘With the aid of the benevolent wisps, the nook in the wall deepens. Thick roots crawl from the cracks in the ceiling, curling into a glowing blossom that lights the den. Thick cave moss rushes to carpet the stone floor, providing a natural mattress for the druid’s slumber.’

Date: Sunday 28th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Barrow Dens, starting outside

No signing up in advance. Due to sharding, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by: Meladriss

Huge thanks to Meladriss for hosting ‘Where the Druids Slumber’ event! And Nara’enil, Ialluen, Telariel, Tassaryl and Scythais for helping with the ceremony honoring the Wild Gods, it was really beautifully coordinated! :sparkling_heart: It was also very enjoyable watching characters looking for the perfect sleeping chamber in the dens and preparing them.

Two more events to go as part of the series, see you next week!

Related to tomorrow’s event, here’s some material for IC gossip. Disclaimer: the writer holds zero accountability for the canon behind this larger-than-life figure.

Word spreads from Belanaar; Captain Lunarbay’s new cargo carrier is almost ready, and the ship’s naming ceremony is expected to happen in a couple of nights. The news is shared with headshakes, laughter, or awestruck ohhs and ahhs.

Lunarbay, huh?

A seasoned sailor you may or may not have heard about. To some simply Odyssei Lunarbay, to others THE Captain Lunarbay, “Black Shark of the Veiled Sea”.

An elf of renown among those who acknowledge the extraordinary - and often bizarre - tales spun about him, such as:

Some sailors quip that Lunarbay lost his right eye swashbuckling against a hundred Horde soldiers, winning his crew’s freedom on an enemy ship during the Fourth War. Clad in naught but his underwear. Armed with a blunt butter knife.

Once upon a time, you might’ve chanced to read faded poetry revolring around the epic saga of a seafaring kaldorei named Odyssei, about his ten-year journey home from Silithus to Feralas following the War of the Shifting Sands. Having angered Neptulon the Tidehunter, Odyssei faced tremendous perils from monsters of the deep to ungodly storms throwing the ship off course. Losing his crew in the tribulations, Odyssei was the only one to return alive.

He’s supposedly the saviour of a tragic love story between members of two feuding families once part of the Auberdine Village Council. Thanks to Lunarbay’s blessed cunning, Rommeoh and Julindel’s families united over a snail race on the beach. The race took so long to finish that by the end of it, the families had grown bored with their enmity.

According to some obscure sea shanty, Lunarbay fell in love with someone referred to as The Little Mermaiden; a mute lady who once saved him from drowning on the sea. Her true identity is a mystery to most narrators. Their budding romance was tarnished by a vile Sea Witch.

The most recent word has it he lost his previous ship Moonsail, and many of his crew, in a shipwreck disaster. Following the incident, it’s claimed he arrived at the Isle of the Watchers riding sea turtle, wearing a majestic seashell for a hat and a large pearl on a seaweed net slung across his chest.

Welcome to Lunarbay’s ship naming ceremony and the fishing competition on the docks tomorrow in Belanaar at 8pm ST, or just to mingle by the ocean! You can whisper Lunarbay or Moonhearth for a raid invite. Please note the event is for Alliance players.

Thank you all who joined the Seaside Sentiments event - at first I wondered if we’d have enough players for the ceremony & fishing competition, and then all of a sudden there were so many people!

In the ship naming ceremony, Lunarbay asked the attendees to come up with a name for the ship, and the suggestions included…

Tyrande’s Embrace
Moonsparrow
The Moonbeam
The Sinking Handmaiden
Nightleaf
The Butterknife
The Pearl of the Dreamchaser
Lunarbow
The White Pearl
The Starborne
A New Beginning
The Next Chapter
The Banshee’s Demise
Duskrider
Surging Tident
The Plump Seal
Tessa’s Applings

In the end Moonsparrow was chosen via people’s vote, congratulations Balturas Strongoak for the award-winning name proposal!

In fact, I was having a call with Ryldor the other night and he jokingly suggested letting people pick the new ship’s name, and I was like… That’s not a bad idea at all! :eyes:

And congrats Fyre’radell Featherbrush for winning the fishing competition! I was a tad worried if people were getting bored mid-way through and thus offered to skip a round, but people wanted to do all six rounds, you guys rock! :raised_hands:

Lastly, apologies to Division Twenty Three, I noticed your guild interested in taking part in the activities but as has been advertised here, Argent Archives and on the Amirdrassil Discord server, these events are aimed at Alliance players for the sake of scale, convenience and to avoid possible IC tensions distracting from the activities. Though my alt wasn’t receptive to the blood elves taking part, OOC no hard feelings and hope you still enjoyed roleplaying in Amirdrassil!

Tonight!

Remembrance & Revival

With everything that has befallen the night elves, it’s likely everyone has lost someone close, long ago or more recently in the Burning of Teldrassil and the War of Thorns. There are moments to look back, and moments to push forward. Tonight is the final event of the New Home, New Hope series. It’s aimed at night elves who’ve suffered much, Alliance only and split into two parts:

Remembrance: Kaldorei are invited to hang up hand-crafted ornaments on a wisteria tree in Bel’ameth, in remembrance of someone they’ve lost long ago or recently.

:memo: People are welcome to say a few words about the person they’re remembering. To ensure the event proceeds at a nice pace, please prepare your item description emote, and the possible short speech, ahead of time!

:ghost: It would be lovely if some people summoned Wisp companions as the remembrance proceeds. The summoned wisps could represent the spirit of someone who the attendee knew, or an unknown wisp drawn over from the boughs like a curious onlooker. Regardless, the event is for honoring lost loved ones no matter when they passed on.

Update: There’s 1 wisp NPC referring to a character perished during the Cataclysm. With that info the wisps don’t have to be limited to elves perished during the Fourth War.

:menorah: After your character has hung an item in the wisteria, it’d be appreciated if you could help with placing a Leylight Brazier (toy) around the tree in a crescent formation. IC these are night elf braziers. Acrona/Hidani has some to trade if you don’t have one!

After the remembrance, a procession takes the attendees to the Revival occasion on a sheltered grove outside Bel’ameth, hosted by Morningtide and Tiaryn. In this beautiful lantern ceremony, all attendants are inspired to nurture Amirdrassil as they obtain a seed for planting. Please bring a lantern off-hand item, preferably green, blue or white. :bulb:

A note on the events being Alliance only:

Such restrictions aren’t done out of malice, but to ensure the event runs smoothly for the chosen target audience with the time, atmosphere, activity mechanics and hosting capacity in mind. While IC is IC, please remember that Out of Character someone may spend a lot of time preparing an event. It’s one thing to stumble into a roleplay event by accident, and another to arrive knowing there may be tensions. Even if done with good intentions, it can be disruptive to the momentum of the ongoing activities, and put pressure on the host when they have to keep an eye out for more than they had planned for.

Thank you for your understanding!

Date: Friday 2nd February, 8pm Server Time
Location: Starting in Bel’ameth by the wisteria tree near the gazebo

No signing up in advance. Due to sharding a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis.

I’ll be multiboxing Hidani and Acrona, you can whisper either for raid invite. Welcome!

Pictures from yesterday’s event, along with descriptions for those who missed the event or parts of it! The raid group filled up super quick and we couldn’t regrettably fit everyone in, fortunately a number of people still ended up on the same shard despite it.

Thank you everyone who came, and huge kudos to Keeper Tiaryn and Warden Morningtide for co-hosting with me!

Thanks also Thalyndrae for helping craft Braziers and for offering Wisp pets for people who didn’t have one, for the Remembrance ceremony.

Now with the New Home, New Hope event series concluded, will work on some kind of a post compiling all the included events. Genuinely thank you all who helped create such a bustling month of roleplay, and sincerely hope these events helped you connect with other roleplayers, and create the feel of there being an in-character community in Amirdrassil.

Sincere thank you everyone who helped with, and participated the New Home, New Hope event series!

Here’s a recap where people can see what happened if they missed some of the events - or if they’d just like to reminisce what transpired.

Genuinely hope the events helped you find roleplay in Amirdrassil, make new contacts, and despite sharding feel like being part of an active in-character community. Something like this couldn’t happen without everyone’s combined efforts; immense thank you all for such a bustling and immersive month of roleplay in Amirdrassil.

Drifting Dreams

There was a ceremony for setting small nature boats to travel a stream coursing through Amirdrassil, each leaf-sailed vessel carrying a message about one’s most ardent hope for the kaldorei’s new home. Before setting their boat on the waters, people were welcome to share their hope for the future with everyone.

Organized by: Acrona (as Hidani)
Thank you Ryldor and Morningtide for helping with boat visuals.

Priestess Hidani’s speech:

"My dear kin and friends. It’s good to see so many of you in Amirdrassil, no matter whether that is to visit or to stay.

I have lived for a long time. Many of us have. And we haven’t only lived - we’ve survived. The first and second Sundering of the world. The first and second invasion of the Burning Legion. The War of the Satyr, and the War of the Shifting Sands. The Third War followed by the Fourth.

War after war after war. Yet here we are, somehow.

While Kalimdor remains close to our heart, under Amirdrassil’s fresh bloom, our people have a safe haven for a new beginning if they so choose. New settlers arrive night and day, and everyone’s help is welcome to make this place feel home.

Tonight, we’ve gathered to share our hopes for our new shelter. On the leaf bed before me, there are small nature boats, pieces of bark, parchment, and charcoal pens.

A crude writing tool, some would say. However, our people have more than once risen from ashes of the past, and to symbolize this, it felt apt we would write our wishes in its color.

Mark my words, sisters and brothers; we won’t only survive - we will thrive."

Stocking Up In Stormwind

Kaldorei crafters found themselves hard-pressed to produce enough goods for the rapidly growing number of settlers arriving at Amirdrassil. Some crafting materials and items were sorely needed sooner than later. With a shopping list in hand, a group of volunteers take a portal to the bustling Stormwind to purchase supplies. What could go wrong?

You entered the world of iridescent odours, and some of you turned into glittering disco balls. At least the supplies were on the house!

Got stuck in a traffic jam and almost got stolen from by street urchins in the crowd.

Felt the fury of local fashionistas.

While you perhaps didn’t save an old shoemaker’s crickety business, you saved a number of soles…

Perhaps you ruined a proposal, and maybe postponed a happy marriage, but it’s all for a noble cause!

Organized by: Acrona
Thank you Ryldor for helping NPC during the event.

Bel’ameth Trade Night

Instead of a traditional market with predesignated vendors and goods bought with coin, people to came to exchange items for items. There was hustle and bustle around the inn as people sought much needed everyday items, some more than once coming in possession of items they hadn’t anticipated to come across.

Organized by: Acrona (as Kaitalos)

Two Faces to Match a Twinned Moon

Supplies have gone missing from the Root-Bound Sanctuary to the south of Bel’ameth, with requests going out to help deliver replacement shipments.

After some investigation at the Root-Bound Sanctuary, the group discovered spriggans to be behind behind the missing supplies. But there was more to the story…

Chasing down their findings, the group found three satyr on one of the neighbouring islands. Death to their enemy visited several lips, but the situation turned out to be more than black and white.

Setting Up School

With many promising young students of the arcane gathering in Amirdrassil, an event was held where people could donate study material and equipment to help school new night elf mages and lorekeepers in Amirdrassil. The contributions included books, research documents, enchanted puzzles, mage artifacts and more.

Item donation catalog

Anyone visiting the lodge may study the listed items. It’s requested the items remain in the building to prevent them going missing.

Organized by: Acrona
Thank you Lintian for co-hosting, helping catalog the donations!

Crafting Connections

Thank you Tiaryn for co-hosting the event!

Where the Druids Slumber

With so many druids frequenting Amirdrassil, the Barrow Dens needed many sleeping chambers where they could move to the Dream safe and protected. Before heading into the dens to help create more of these chambers, there was a ceremony in honor of the Wild Gods.

Druid Meladriss addressed the gathering, “I welcome you all today, for not only the druids of the Kaldorei to find their place within the new Dens of Amirdrassil, but also to honor the Wild Gods who fought valiantly beside us to make certain the World tree blossoms into Azeroth. Without their guidance, their protection and the fact they once again put their lives on the line for us, Amirdrassil might not have been there. For that reason, I hope we can give each of them the respect and attention they deserve.”

Organized by: Meladriss
Thank you Nara’enil, Ialluen, Telariel, Tassaryl and Scythais for helping with the ceremony!

Remembrance & Revival

Organized by Morningtide, Tiaryn, Acrona
Thank you Thalyndrae for helping craft braziers and offer wisps for the event.

Part 1: Remembrance

Night elves and some of their close friends gathered in Bel’ameth to honor their lost loved ones. Priestess Hidani Stardew opened the Remembrance ceremony:

"Kin and close friends, thank you for joining us in honoring those we’ve lost but not forgotten.

Friends and family. Mentors and students. Sisters and brothers in arms. Many people walk in and out of our life, but fewer leave footprints in our heart.

Those whom we trusted, loved, and laughed with. Whom we shared the joys and burdens of life with.

Tonight we decorate this tree with memories of the kaldorei dear to us. While losing someone can be like losing a limb; let their lives be recalled and celebrated with love, honesty and gratitude.

I see many of you holding onto ornaments that convey something about the person it is for. Something they liked, or represented. Or something they remind you of.

When it is your turn to hang your ornament on the tree, you’re welcome to share a few words about the person you’re remembering.

You may feel you didn’t get as much time with the ones you love as you think you’re owed. How is it possible now to say everything you want to about a person’s whole life story in a few, brief words?

Perhaps you can’t. Perhaps words can’t express how much they meant to you. The distance between what we think and what we want to say may be unbridgeable.

But trust this; they’ll know, and they’ll see your heart of hearts. Even if you said nothing at all.

Thank you for listening. Now, I kindly ask those of you who wish to hang a remembrance ornament in the tree, to form a queue in front of me.

Once you are done, or if you’re here just to spectate, please help light the braziers surrounding the tree in a crescent formation, in honor of the occasion."

Part 2: Revival

Keeper Tiaryn and Warden Morningtide took charge of the second ceremony, leading people to a secluded and serene grove outside Bel’ameth.

Morningtide explained the ceremony:

"One by one, or perhaps two by two, we will walk into the spiral. This represents a journey toward the centre of your own spirit. As you follow the spiral’s winding path, gaze inward into your soul.

What do you wish to carry into the future? What are you planting into the new world?

In the centre, pluck a luminous seed from the Vigil’s Torch plant.

On your way out through the spiral, you carry your hopes along another journey.

We have come this far. Now let us not slow down, or rest on our laurels, but courageously follow the path of destiny set out for us.

As all seeds grow from one plant… our future comes from one will. The will of the kaldorei, the favoured Children of the Stars."

Part 3: Grove of Remembrance

The Revival ceremony was concluded with a ritual led by Tiaryn to consecrate the secluded grove as a place of remembrance, pleading to Aessina, Cenarius, the Dreamer and Elune for their blessings.

"My dear brothers and sisters, gathered here in the light of the stars. Now that you have gathered your seeds, and started one the path to renewal, I bid you join me down by the waters, so that we may properly establish this wondrous grove as a Grove of Remembrance.

Thus, we dedicate it not only to those we have lost over the years, but also, through the ritual of the Vigil’s Torch, to the friends and family members we have won. To their everlasting memory, one and all.

Most importantly, we consecrate this grove in remembrance of all that the Children of the Stars have been, are, and yet can become."

Ever since catching wind from the local watchers about cultists terrorising the new home of the kaldorei, fledgling adventurer and massive nuisance Scyllis Nightgloom has pestered the Sentinels and Watchers of the Arlithrien Lodge. While she seems to have been banned by one of them from entering the lodge itself, that doesn’t stop her from asking whoever exits it over and over what she could do to help with the matter. Just give her a quest, damn it! Rumour has it she set up her tent not far from the training grounds to maximise up-time.

Hope it’s okay to post rumours in here… thanks for the cool random RP yesterday :eye: :lips: :eye:

So far the night elf community seems to have really put in the legwork to make Amirdrassil a shining beacon of hope for Kaldorei rp.I have been suitably impressed by the sheer amount of dedication people have shown.
