[A-RP] Army of the Black Moon - The Moonstalkers

THE MOONSTALKERS:

The Moonstalker is a species of Nightsaber native to Darkshore and its environs. It was a fierce predator, that stalked the overgrown wilds. Deadly when alone, fiercer still to face it in a pack, these felines proved to be the apex of their own ecosystem. We take after them - we are of the Natural Order. We are the hunters in the night. We stalk these ancient woods. For they are our home. They are our birthright.

These are our lands. We shall go where we please. We shall kill as we please. Let Elune judge the righteousness of it.

Ishnu-alah.

The Moonstalkers are a primarily militaristic unit of the Army of the Black moon, acting moreso as a wandering pack of hunters than sentinels. They act independently of military hierarchy, with a main focus on border security, preservation of ancient sites, and ensuring a status quo of Kaldorei supremacy peace in elven lands. They are overzealous, hostile, and against the prospect of peace with the many non-Alliance factions in Kalimdor.

Members of all orders, from rugged veterans to bright-eyed novices, are welcome in this group. It also has little issue in recruiting the undead, the demonic, and the heretic, so long as they wish to serve their people. Worgen, gilneans, and other Alliance members would also be considered to work alongside the unit.

To serve with the Moonstalkers is to some a great honour. To others, it is punishment, to be deployed into inhospitable lands, to fend for oneself, to trudge through old elven ruins facing horrors or to put those filthy orc merchants in their place combat mighty enemies as they tread upon Kaldorei soil. We are Her unbroken blades, her bared fangs, the shadow cast by the New Moon upon all who would disrespect her.

Events focus mainly on travel, training, combat, and potentially faction-warfare, guerilla encounters, and ominous rituals.

OOC INFORMATION!

The Moonstalkers are a military-RP adjacent concept. They’re a big mixture of war-mongering, psychological warfare, the worst people you know, and religious zealotry.
A sort of “Kalimdor Liberation Movement” at times, under the mask of an Alliance unit.

Covert operations. Overt operations. Terror crusades. All wrapped up nicely in a grimdark-style dark fantasy concept. A mish-mash of references, Night Lords, Drukhari, Raven Guard, the Fremen, Feyd-Rautha’s problem-solving methods and the Night’s Watch. We wear our hearts on our sleeve: Yes, there will be edgy elves (and Alliance pals who wish to kill orcs).

For a slightly more detailed view:

The Rules.
  • Have fun.
  • Kill orcs.
  • Don’t harsh the vibe.
  • Respect the separation of IC and OOC.
The Structure.

The guild is organized in ranks. As guilds often are.

  • Fodder: Recently-joined or forcibly transferred. These are the serfs, the squires, the grunts.
OOC: Starter/ooc rank, basest of the base ranks. Pre-formal invitation.

  • Aspirant: Those who have shown interest in joining the ranks proper. Often put in scouting units, made to hunt and prove themselves on the field.
OOC: The ‘Initiate’ rank. No matter which walk of life one comes from, before they are given their kit, they are Aspirants.

  • Stalker: A member proper. Fangs or claws now bloodied in the name of the cause. Or, otherwise proven useful. After overcoming a trial, they are now fully-fledged Moonstalkers, and privy to the lore of the inner circles of the unit.
OOC: The formal soldier rank. You’re one of us now.

  • Haunter: The veterans. Thrice-bloodied are they, proven in might and wisdom. They whose sole mention brings terror into the hearts of the alien, the heretic, and the accursed.
OOC: Prestige rank. An upgrade in pay and gear. Not a higher authority over the Stalkers, but their wisdom and knowledge is highly valued.

  • Captain: Those who lead the kill-teams and expeditions. Those who command some authority over others.
OOC: The officer rank. They are in charge of leading the unit in events, IC recruitment, problem-solving, the works.

  • Matriarch: Commander Lynnara Nightflayer, the high keeper of rites and tradition. The highest authority, the one in charge. The visible head of the unit.
OOC: That’s me! The Guild Master.

Races.

We welcome all races of the Alliance, and different subsets of Kaldorei.
Demon Hunters, Darkfallen, undead, warlocks of all kind. Void Elves. All are welcome so long as they serve the Alliance.
The only unacceptable race being: Man’ari Eredar.

This is, however, an Army of the Black Moon-focused guild. Very xenophobic in nature. Night Elves, Gilneans and Worgen (both elven and gilnean) will take precedent over less-appreciated races like, say, a very dedicated Pandaren or a Dracthyr.

“It is foolish to deny the aid of an extra pair of blades. But that doesn’t mean we have to like wielding them.” - Commander Nightflayer on fighting alongside the Dark Iron during a raid on Zuldazar.

Recruitment.

The recruitment process will be fully IC and ingame. Reply in this thread, send in-game mail to Nightflayer-ArgentDawn, contact me or any officer ingame – or contact the discord you’ll find later on in the thread.

FAQ

For strawman arguments & general questions:

  • “Are you a Death Cult?” No. (Maybe)
  • “Do you treat Night Elves better than other races that may join?” Yes.
  • “I want to join, but I don’t have time to fully commit to a guild, right now?” My brother I can’t even commit to a guild right now and I am running it. It’s business-casual. There won’t be an activity requirement, and you won’t be kicked for being busy.
  • “I want to join on my DK/DH/Druid of the Fang/Nightmare/Flame.” Some more difficult than others, but so long as you’re not antagonistic towards the cause, you are more than welcome to join. Expect, however, to be treated more as a weapon than a person by your peers.
  • “B-B-B-Buh-But the armistice!” Yeah? And?
  • “Tyrande herself said she was tired of this!” Good. We’re not.
  • “There is no active faction war, you can’t target Horde encampments and civilians!” Yes we can. Watch us.
  • “I don’t enjoy this RP.” It’s a free server. You’re free to not engage, or engage critically.

It has been a bloody couple of days at the outpost, and mostly due to recruitment rather than facing the enemy. It appears that grouping together such a dangerous bunch has had very expected consequences.

With the death of a squadron of horde marauders, the execution of their leader, and some very graphic displays of elven might in Winterspring, the group has made their pause and been somewhat successful in securing newbloods for the cause.

Sending a request to HQ for some ‘specialty equipment’, the Moonstalkers plan to give a Reliquary delegation a warm welcome to Winterspring.

Well, chat. We did it. It somewhat took off.
Thanks to all who’ve joined so far, and I extend a hand out to any who would still do so!

I don’t want peace. I want problems. Always.

I usually have a preference towards neutrality in terms of my characters and who they tend to prefer for company but the general attitude of this guild (I’ve been having a good laugh at the responses made here) make me want to pursue leveling my warlock for once and come join at some point. I want problems and I want them everyday.

Feel like participating in an event? Either as friend or foe? Contact Nightflayer, or join the discord and talk to me through there.

All in good fun.

Quick update FAQ:

  • Do you plan on Roleplaying the events of The War Within? Sprinkling void stuff here and there. Not my priority as a DM at the moment, but stay tuned for TWW-themed warmongering.

  • I want to attend these events, can I? Even without joining as long as it is in good faith you’d be allowed to join. Be welcome in our crappy discord as I forget to admin the channel permissions and force you to navigate a barren wasteland of channels.

A group of Orc veterans performing a memorial on the coast of Ashenvale was found completely decimated in a forest clearing near Zoram’gar. Their bodies had been propped up, displayed and hung from the trees. Retrieval efforts by passing horde adventurers were made difficult by the traps set about the grisly scene, claiming three more lives alongside the original twelve. The death count has reached fifteen total.

A message had been carved into those that hadn’t been skinned, a perfect calligraphy issuing a warning; “Stay out of our land.”

That night, on a tanning rack in winterspring, an oddly green stretch of leather was being treated like any other material.

The event; Silence the Warsong has come to a satisfactory end. A good way to get the rust off as a DM and see how the party worked. With some minor mishaps and hiccups along the way, the overly-specialized group of peacekeepers slaughtered an old man and his war buddies put an end to a group of orc marauders threatening the terms of the armistice.

Fun was (hopefully) had by all.

Except the orcs.

:innocent: World peace!

A foul assault on a Reliquary expedition to Winterspring leaves eight dead. The expedition, lead by Lord Feyroth Azuregale hoped to rediscover a timelost artifact of a bygone era in the Highborne ruins there, though after an assault by marauders, further exploration into the zone has been halted out of fear for the lives of the researchers.
Most tragic of all is, perhaps, the loss of the young son of mister Azuregale, a promising youth whose flame was snuffed out too soon.
After a thorough investigation, the culprits appeared to be a rogue unit of the Venture Company, bullet casings and goblin artifacts left around the zone pointing to the problematic corporation.

Reports from Everlook claim that at around nightfall, last night, shots rang out from the digsite in Lake Kel’theril […]

The article continues, mentioning the names of those dead in the operation, both of the Reliquary expeditionaries and the goblin mercenaries that perpetrated the massacre. The camp had been looted, too. All mentions of the artifact gone.

It’s terrifying what they’re posting in the Everlook Gazette these days. A massacre in Kel’theril, right under our noses?

Frightening times we live in.

Our condolences to the Expedition and the families of those who lost their lives today. We will work alongside the sentinels to get to the bottom of this.
