A question of the safety of the county of Duskwood has arisen, through the occupation within the old grove of a conclave of individuals who claim to be associated with the Cenarion Circle. Reports have streamed in of bandits and openly Horde aligned individuals residing within this grove, passing through from Stranglethorn. Given that anyone who claims ‘neutrality’ can freely enter, it has become a hive of banditry and hostility right within the center of our Kingdom. This will not be allowed to stand.
I have spoken now with three different supposed leaders of this conclave – the first an elven Archdruid who was very ameniable to the presence of Crown soldiers, even requesting that we establish relations with them as he thought the local administration unsound. Our reasonable requests, which are established below, were amiably agreed with him, and our party left on good terms.
The next day, I sent two of my soldiers to check on a tauren being let through the checkpoint at Stranglethorn, through to the Grove. There they were treated very unkindly, denied access and threatened. When I went to investigate the issue, I was informed by an elven woman that the previous gentleman I’d spoken to was overthrown, and that their conclave would take total control over the grove. Our requests were not taken as valid whatsoever, and I was personally threatened and imposed upon. This entire experience made me and my comrades fear for our lives, as we were driven by force from the grove by druids transmuting themselves into enormous bears, clawed beings and all sorts of horrid beasts our small party could not defend against.
The third visit, I arrived with a column of soldiers detached from their duties in Stranglethorn. I spoke with another elf who again denied our requests. More and more ‘neutral’ vagrants arrived, including a massive BEAR who in front of my eyes mauled an accompanying elderly dwarf terribly. WIth diplomacy failing, and growing hostility, I decided against bloodshed and retired our troops to their camp.
Our requests:
- That a party of up to three Crown servants are permitted to enter the Grove at any time.
- That they should be permitted to inspect that all is well within the Grove without obstruction.
- That no Zandalari are permitted to enter under any circumstances.
- That a record is kept of every individual of a Horde race who enters the Grove.
Consider these visits both as inspections that all is well, and a means to build good relations between ourselves. You must reason that, in a time of war, we must have some means to ward that all is well within our own county, on our own sovereign land. Now, while there are those who have disagreed with that question of sovereignty, I see it as a fact we may live with – the Circle’s stewardship of that land is a satisfactory solution for us, as I have said to every leader I’ve tried to find, but there cannot be a situation where anyone who claims to be ‘neutral’ can enter this piece of land, and Crown soldiers are refused and treated with hostility. That situation cannot and will not exist in the center of our realm, in wartime no less.
We are absolutely willing to establish amiable relations, work together to stop the terrible and malicious attacks of the kind recently reported. Nominate a leader and I’m willing to speak to them. I don’t wish for this to come to bloodshed, but my every effort to reach a diplomatic solution has been met with outright refusal and hostility – all except for the one individual overthrown by radicals.
A response would be appreciated, sooner rather than later.
