Bahelda had known the tyranny of priesthood well - under the protection of the Light, these manipulators justified all their actions, forgetting the simple virtues that once united all children of the Light: Respect, Tenacity and Compassion.
However, Sister Goldhelm knew that out there, somewhere, there were like-minded, religious people, who knew the three virtues and swore by them. People who would not purge recklessly, who thought of their actions before doing them and cared for the community as a priest should.
All she would need to do is find them.
Hello, I’m Bahelda, and welcome to the Hand of the Virtuous! The Hand is an Orthodox, Light orientated guild - essentially, we’re a guild that is a foil of most other Light orientated guilds. Think of the Hand as like… Martin Luther to the Catholic Church in 1517. There’s more information in the INTEREST CHECK thread I posted a few weeks ago, for extra clarity. (Link Further Down)
To summarise, the Hand are a group of believers in the Light who push for a focus on the ‘basics’ of the Light, the Three Virtues. They believe that this will weaken the current wave of very ‘radical’ (at least in their biased opinion) practice of the Light, as well as improve the status of the Light which they believe has been damaged through the actions of X’era, The Lightbound Draenei as well as various other individuals. Hopefully, it will make the Light more welcoming to everyone, instead of continuing to be irrationally feared due to its reputation.
Alright… what exactly are you going to do, though?
We’re not just going to stand around and whinge about the Light all day, oh no.
We’re going to, at least eventually:
- Hold prayer on at least a weekly basis.
- Regularly preach on the Light, with a focus on the three virtues.
- Function as a hospital, providing medical as well as spiritual care and guidance.
- Educate others on the Light as well as providing free, basic education to Stormwind’s needy children.
- Fundraise for the Church, as well as other charitable organisations such as the Orphanage.
- Open intellectual discussion on the Light - what is it, truly? Is it a being? A force? Will we ever be able to find out?
Aside from that, we will engage in regular, casual RP helping the lovely citizens of Stormwind!

How do I join?
- Talk to Bahelda Goldhelm in or around the Cathedral, or perhaps drop me a /w or in game letter if I’m online so we can talk about it OOCly and set up something for IC.
- Anyone can join. Literally anyone. But be reasonable. Your character will have to have a legitimate reason to join. There’s only really one requirement, and that is to believe in the Light. [choral singing]
- On the IC side of things, there’s a little form you fill in, declaring you are part of the religious organisation. There’s no blood contract or branding ceremony and your character can leave if they wish. (Not that we want them to!)
- Believing in the Light can be difficult when you are dead, a demon or talking to demons. Whispers of the Old Gods don’t help either. Bear this in mind.
