Precisely this. Though given how they still dress the part, heavens knows how long that redemption is going to take.
The Scarlet Pilgrims completely renounced the Scarlet Crusade and seek redemption. They have taken off their tabards and want to atone for their sins.
OP and his Scarlets still cling to the mantle of the Scarlet Crusade, they wear the tabards and they want to return it to a foundation the Scarlet Crusade never had - one based on honour, nobility and justice. They want to redeem the Scarlet Crusade.
A good description on the OP’s view I believe but doesn’t stride against lore that some Scarlets and/or their recruits wouldn’t want to enhance/better the foundations they came from.
I mean, we’re at a stage where we don’t know what is going on with the original Scalets, and some others could be outside the loop too.
I think you have to differentiate between what we know as players and what our characters know. We know that the Scarlet Crusade was rotten from the beginning, but your average Joe Shmoe Scarlet Crusader? He may very well believe that they were totally the good guys once upon a time.
For someone who’s constantly been a Crusader I can see that making sense, as they will just shrug off anything as propaganda.
But from what I understood, the character in question is one who’s also been an Argent for the longest time(Where it is common knowledge that the organization was always evil from the beginning).
That’s what I think makes it iffy for people. It is for me at least.
But at the same time, no one can stop OP from roleplaying what they want to roleplay. The server is big, and it will/would only really become an issue for others if its specifically using wonky lore in a public setting/for the masses.
The average Scarlet Crusader? Well, unless they are a pilgrim - no, they’ll very likely consider the Scarlet Crusade the good guys. Most non-Scarlets? Chances are they’ve heard of their actions, Balnazzar’s presence within the Crusade was known as early on as Vanilla. OP’s character, though? I’ll let him speak for himself.
An ex-Scarlet that deserted the Crusade because of their beliefs and actions, which have been present amongst them even whilst they were still the Silver Hand.
This is the most redundant logic for a Roleplaying server. It really peeves me off.
“If you don’t like ‘em, slap them on ignore!”
It’s a habit which has sadly festered from Stormwind roleplay into a lot of other guilds as of recently, and has abysmally ruined the server roleplay as of recently. Generally people should be wanting to interact with others, it’s what makes this server good.
In regards to the Void Elf Argent, and I see people meming on his post;
Obviously the lines look pretty scuffed with how it’s phrased, but who wouldn’t in their right mind not be mad if their “second in command” basically ditched to go and make his own guild, on the premise of some very lazy IC excuse.
I for sure (like many others here) wouldn’t feel anything other than extremely irritated OOC, that someone in the position of no.2 ghosted to make their own guild.
This is entirely different, because the Dainty Damsel and the Bloodied Goats are not sprung from groundings of warcraft lore. I/E the Scarlet Crusade.
Depends what guild threads tbh, normally it’s mass reporting these days.
People should also want to curate their own experience though. Engaging in roleplay or with roleplayers where you don’t enjoy it isn’t why you pay x currency per y number of months to play the game. What makes the server good is entirely subjective, too. Yes, open roleplay with a lot of interaction is great, but smaller, more personal stories are also just as enjoyable.
There comes a point where you do just say “this isn’t for me, and I’m just going to keep my distance.” Where that line is is different for all of us. Personally if Radnor wants to make a scarlet guild that takes a more moderate and penitant stance then I feel he’s perfectly entitled to, and I don’t think he should be chased down with torches and pitchforks over it.
At late night, a manifest could be found, attached to the wall next to Darkshire’s town hall entrance.
The sins of our past will be redeemed. Not all those which pledged themselves to the Scarlet Flame should be considered the same. Saidan Dathrohan led us to a dead end, full of ignorance, mindless fury and, most of everything, fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of seeking the cooperation and aid needed to -annihlate- the only true enemy of every living being: the flithy Scourge, which devoured our own kingdom, and half of the whole world. Still, the Holy Light had shown us the path to restore it, to build Lordaeron back from it’s own ashes. To save the Scarlet Crusade from it’s own past.
We invite you all to answer our call.
We invite you, to not listen or be conditioned by our brothers’ lies.
Their words are corrupted from the madness of a cursed man.
Empower your Faith, in this moment of very needing.
Light wills it.
People sure are fussy when it comes to people roleplaying as the Scarlet Crusade. I hope you won’t let them ruin your experience, just have fun and do your thing!
I’ve got three words for you:
Pretension. Elitism. Gatekeeping.
If Metzen was here, and we asked him the same thing, I bet a few bucks he’d say, ‘‘Role-playing Scarlets? … Cool, man, where do I sign up?’’
My opinion has shifted a bit reading through this thread. I am hoping things go well for you (I was already, but I think it’s more of a viable concept now?)
Making a Scarlet guild requires a lot of thought in terms of actually being viable for long term RP, as well as the unpleasant task of having to ensure that you aren’t attracting super far right loonies. It’s not a pleasant task and I’m not envious of anyone leading a Scarlet guild at all.
I’d add that this is the attitude that played a part in the demise of other RP servers. I remember a huge row on my old server about some people wanting to roleplay an IC council of sorts in Dalaran, and were subsequently bullied and chased off the server. Criticism of RP concepts is fine, but it stops being fine when it becomes destructive rather than constructive.
If you don’t like Radnor’s guild, then don’t interact with it. It’s not as if he is playing a bunch of Naruto characters on WoW or something.
Best of luck to you, Radnor.
I get your point and I agree, but I’d also argue that no one gets along with everybody, or with everybody’s RP concept. Sure, guilds should aim to be open to as many interactions as possible, but you can’t please everybody.
You’re right there ^

Oh boy, a Scarlet Guild trotting about again? Interested to see where this goes, good luck with the concept! It’s a hard one to pull off but I’m certain with proper effort you’ll be well able to do it!
Quite right, and as it’s already been brought up it’s blatant gatekeeping and elitism. Some posters here having a go against the OP’s guild concept themselves have questionable track records when it comes to rp concepts.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and all that. There’s been Scarlet guilds posted up here before who have had a complete opposite reaction than what has been posted here, purely on the “who” is posting not on the “what” is put on offer.
It’s not as if “Scarletism” is on the way out in lore either, if anything it has transformed into something a bit more nuanced than the former “LIGHT WILLS IT” deus vulting cringery.
I see some of the hostility given towards the OP and i’m reaffirmed in the biggest problem on the server to roleplayers are other roleplayers.
Being the primary example in this thread.
Carry on Radnor, the fact you’re provoking a reaction shows you’re on the right path, Argent Dawn needs more diversity anyway.
Rumors about a group of Scarlet Crusaders which clashed against bandits in Duskwood begun to spread around the whole region, and the nearby Elwynn Forest. The rascals were responsible of a few vile and tremendous actions: They used to disguise themselves as Undead, terrorizing the local villagers to better stole the poor families’ goods other than abuse wives and daughters of the peasants. A few bandits had been taken captive from the Crusaders, and then released, only to surrender themselves to the kingsmen’s authority the same evening. One of them was found carrying a scarlet rosary and a propaganda manifest, related to the so called ‘renegade’ Chapter of the order. The man stated many times that the commonly considered criminal zaelots actually saved him and his comrades’ life from the assault of a real swarm of ghouls slightly after the Knights attack at their lair. Every single survivor confessed the guilt for the previous crimes.
Many would wonder what are the Scarlets doing, so far from Lordaeron. And why they decided to spare the bandits’ lives.
Why are you doing Scarlet RP in Duskwood ?
We decided to spend a few days in the South to get new members.
