The watch is remembered with fondness because they respected people, and existed solely to create RP, and they were not spasmodically trying to boss people around. The latter thing is the issue with many guard guilds and player ran governments.

Yes, but again I don’t believe that’s OP’s intention at all. There has to be some element of “rules” and “agreements” - but nobody is bound by them, and I’m sure if 10 guards come up to your character and say you’re violating the sitting-on-the-grass rule and have to move, you can use any IC or OOC objection (IC preferred) to denote that you don’t follow those laws. Exactly the same as people did with the Watch.

I think it’s the very opposite of harmful for SW to be united under a bigger, solitary narrative though.

This should be the first place your mind goes anyway. No one (I hope) RPs these concepts to limit fun. Make a silly excuse, run away, take up so much of their time they just leave you alone anyway. There’s plenty of ways to acknowledge RP but not have it vastly effect yours. Just as you would for any IC ‘authority’

For the purpose of storytelling, slowly building up this community will be vital. Membership will not be open — I see it as very important to keep this to guilds who can have meaningful interactions with each other, and who we feel fit the mould. That isn’t to say that it’s a closed group — we’re trying to create a shared narrative, and anyone is welcome to join the public section of our discord, read the rumours & gossip posts, and generally chat about what’s going on.

While I will be putting up a guild thread for it later on, the coordination for this will be furnished through my own guild, Servant of the Crown — there are any number of character types/roles that would fit this guild, and I will start actively recruiting for it shortly, so feel free to get in touch if you’d like to join.

Did you read the OP?

This is infrastructure for an elitist system with one guy choosing who is and isn’t in the inner circle.

This “nobody is forcing you do xyz” nonsense is willingly ignorant – complaints about Stormwind’s roleplay tend to focus on how cliquey and “bubble”-like it is. How do you think that will evolve when a huge chunk of the community has made a decision to be a part of something like this, and others abstain?

If you’re concerned about a community, dividing it under the guise of uniting it is a horrible idea.

Look at how vitriolic this response is for what I posted. An attack on something small I do to make a little roleplay happen. This is an objection to forming an elitist community – it doesn’t even exist yet, and already the responses to dissent are this petty and vile.

Then you haven’t read the OP. My dissent is founded on what is promised up top: one guy running things through his guild, and choosing who is or isn’t a part of what they will decide is The Story.

For what I posted. As in, out of proportion. All this really means is that you’re used to The Rotgarde goofing up all over the forum and treating people like garbage.
