The Grand Gilneas Games

The Games within Gilneas celebrate the wonderous time of the reclaiming of the city and the beauty of the world as the Alliance has come together to bring back a long lost city to its people once more. With the loyal charge being made by the King, Greymane - the success of this has proven fruitful, and now life is beginning to return to the city as it always should have been. But with that comes a time of merriment, leading into the Grand Gilnean Games. This is the first time the Games has been held, and we are pleased to be doing so!
We hope all can come and enjoy the time spent here and begin to build a thriving and new community within a city lost long ago, now taken back into the life of the Seven-Kingdoms.
It shall be running through the course of April’s first week, for six days:
2nd-7th of April, 2024.
The Games
In celebration of the Kingdoms and those that came from afar, six games will be hosted that will begin on the second day of the Games, the 5th. They range from the more noble of challenges that relish in chivalry of the grand Knights, Warriors and Mercenaries that protect the land, to those of more humble origins, or maybe they are the grand protectors of the land too - who’s to say but the people of the Kingdoms far and wide. The winners of these games will be awarded both medals and items awarded for each participant to display their winner championship to the games. As such, the games are: Duelling Combat. Jousting. Shooting. Magical duels. Druid (Harvest Witch included) Challenges. Bard lyrical game.
The Masquerade Ball
At the end of the games will be a grand masquerade ball. Those who attend are encouraged to find masks or costume to wear to hide physical identities and relish in the air of mystery whilst in attendance, but of course, this is not a demand that has to be fulfilled. There will be music given throughout the night online - but there is also the open option for any bards who might wish to preform to do so here! (You can contact an organiser in regards to this.) A banquet shall be given with plenty of food to fill bellies throughout the night, along with paired and group dancing - all to be ended with a firework display to end the games and celebration.
Schedule of the Games
Duelling Combat - 2nd of April - 20:15PM
Duels are more than often, a way to settle a score. Whether that is a long time history of ravishing hatred, or potentially a friendly bet made within a tavern. Yet in the host of games and tourneys alike, they are a way to display chivalry and commendation to others of skill level. Here, a line up of those who sign there names will choose their opponents one by one when one is called to take the stand.
Rematches will not be tolerated, nor the throwing of the gauntlet.
Jousting - 3rd of April - 20:00PM
A bygone way for Knights of the Lance to show their might and their skill atop stallions and mounts alike! A display of unmatched training for the Lance and horse combination; it is an honour to win such matches. Whilst unlike duelling, the trials of jousting are matched against one another before hand, yet as they climb the ladder, more and more will come under harsher strain of the next competitor.
Shooting Range - 4th of April - 20:00PM
Whilst archery is well renown throughout the entire world of Azeroth, it is not unknown the love Gilneans have for their fire arms, perhaps most known for their rifles. Here, and now, comes a time for those who have a love for the skill of gunpowder and bullets to show off their skills with a shooting-range to prove accuracy and steel. A wonderous target range has been created; shoot the wooden rabbits with the best accuracy, win the game!
Druid Challenges - 5th of April - 20:00PM
Whilst Druidism is a beautiful and nature filled skill, the Harvest witches of Gilneas have a warmed heart to those of the land. Strife has always been something that they have faced, yet now is a time for them to be celebrated and brought back into the light of the home that has been reclaimed. Here; it will be shown and displayed the purity that comes with life magic, whether that of Druids or Harvest Witches with the growing of turnips for the end feast.
Magical Duels - 6th of April - 20:00PM
Whilst perhaps, not as wildly known or explicitly seen, magic has been apart of Gilnean since the beginning. With the reclaim of the land, all, are welcome within the walls - even those of more magical means. And such, it is a time for that to be displayed! Much alike those of sword and shield, or spear and daggers; Wizards, Witches and Mages are encouraged to come and display their magical prowess against opponents much like themselves in the magical duels.
Bard Lyrical - 7th of April (during the Ball)
Huzzah! For all those of musical and poetry, it is time to flex your skills! Bring harmony to the ears and tunes to the heart! For your time has come, when the feast does rise - to play your harp, your song, your twisting of tongue! Give joy to those who have suffered so long, for now is the time to begin again, in this hollow city of Gilneas, the lanterns are lit, again.

Other Entertainment: The Games will be held over a six day period, so there is the invitation for all whom would be interested in hosting their own stalls to come and join. Whether that is food, trade items such as hides or jewellery or even if there are entertainers such as fortune tellers or even bards! If there are any who would be interested in this, please see the contact details.
The Masquerade Ball shall be held OOCly at the Greymane Manor. However should be taken ICly as a nobles restored building.
