I will weave you a friendship bracelet!
Tell me more about this. I’ve only recently completed the Broken Isles DH campaign, so I’m unsure on where exactly they fit in these days. Initially, I was going to potentially go with just a roaming sort of deal around the Broken Isles, but I’m unsure on what actually makes sense.
I realize it’s the wrong thread to talk about the Illidari, or DH’s in general, but I’m going to presume that all of you are way more up to date and knowledgeable than I am!
The fate of the Illidari after Legion is a bit unsure, because we never got any lore stating what they’re doing now. But in BfA and SL, they are not seen anywhere during the campaigns.
The general headcanon seems to be that most packed up and left to continue fighting the Demons in the cosmos, as the Legion may be defeated, there’s still a lot of demons out there that infinitely respawn unless butchered in the Twisting Nether!
And a minority remained and started to work for the Horde and Alliance factions.
Once again, since we don’t have lore stating anything, this is just headcanon.
This part, while it makes my stomach turn, is probably the “safe” option for anyone who is unsure. Orgrimmar atleast still has that tiny little 4x4 speck near the Flying trainers where some Demon Hunters sit and chill.
But given that almost fanatical devotion to Illidan (Kayn and his dialogue/champion path), I wonder if it should really just be very heavily focused on the Broken Isles / Outland with maybe the occasional foray to places like Felwood and such?
The Altruis types I could imagine being more open to the Horde/Alliance as such, since there isn’t that hardcore devotion to another lord involved?
But it is tricky to draw a reasonable line somewhere. It’s why I haven’t dared go IC yet, in fear of making a fool out of myself!
I would recommend staying away from all civilisation and just crying in a corner with the other DHs!
DHs are inheretly reclusive. And while they’re not outright banned from large population centers, theyll themselves opt not to go there.
I’d personally say that you’d be best off finding yourself a DH guild and seeing how they handle everything themselves. DH rp is sadly enough rather bubbly RP, due to the nature of DHs.
In my opinion, DHs should always remain focussed on demons. So on Azeroth that’d be Ashenvale, Felwood, Desolace, Broken Shores
Sadly the problem is that rarely anyone will ever go there
ESPECIALLY on Alliance.
But yeah DH rp is rather bubbled, there’s a few DH only guilds around I believe? Or maybe merc guilds.
It’s just pain otherwise to try and RP a DH outside Stormwind.
That goes without saying!
Still with you.
That’s not an issue for me personally. Back when we did the Resurgence Round 1, we had some good times, and there was even some cross-faction involved. A good bit of pragmatism and such; Very enjoyable, but also there was a constant fear of doing it wrong and such. But again, rambling.
Azeroth no doubt has plenty of Burning Blade fanatics and other demons that need smiting!
Also yes. I’d probably limit it to those areas, and probably Outland. See where the story takes me.
Its a pain to RP anything outside if the main hubs, because the moment you leave it, the amount of RPers drops by 99%
Its a shame such a large and immersive world is so empty, but thats why we RP in Kalimdor!
Well, I have nothing to add then. You seem well informed and know the ‘issues’ with DH RP! Can only wish you the best of luck and a lot of fun
We may even come to blows should we meet! No fel in my forest
Especially if you’re a villain character, because more often than not when people encounter one they go for immediate kills and move on, little regard for the villain RPers player most likely wanting to build upon the character.
Real and true.
Or people are like “Hur dur my character is too strong your villain can’t touch me”.
Or the Villain tries to godemote because “Hur dur Im villain I can do everything”
Villain RP is a pain. Because you basically have to do it with people you know, because random encounters are usually unsatisfactory
TRUE, god it’s so frustrating.
Alas that is also true and equally frustrating lmao.
I mean, you CAN do it with random people, but yeah like you said, it’s unsatisfactory sometimes.
You are kin with my lord; I have no quarrel with you! (80% of that applies to Zath on Nelves. The other 20% is because I am utterly attrocious at PVP)
I’d like to think so! It was a lot harder 8 years ago, before Legion. Trying to do a convincing Illidari back then was a whole other adventure. BUT! That was then, and this is now! I’ve always tried to go the reasonable route, and that’s probably never going to change.
The vast majority of conflict is not done by toggling PvP thankfully (Because I too am absolutely atrocious and at an instant disadvantage for being a caster main lmao)
Unless you’re attending an actual RP-PvP event, even then it’s rarely full blown PvP.
The majority of conflict is just pure emote based and abilities used as visual flavour!
That is reassuring!
So before I put too much effort into levelling a new character I have a question to put past you. You’re led by a Keeper and mention other nature entities in your description. Would that include, say, a Moonkin/Owlbear? They’re shown to both understand and speak (broken) Darnassian in both lore and questlines, as well as being demonstrably blessed by Elune.
Feel free to say no, I just like the idea personally!
Personally I like the idea, as you point out they are blessed by Elune and have limited speech in Darnassian, so I can’t see why not. But I will put it to the guild leader.
That strange fellow above pointed me towards this guild and i’m intrigued. I was wondering on your thoughts of a Dwarven Shaman? He’s a Wildhammer, so pretty close to nature anyway, and Shamanism is just… the fundamentals of nature, really! I’ve been looking for an avenue to get back into roleplaying again and this guild seems like a great project so I figured I would just shoot my shot.
Moonkin/Owlbears, dryads, uncorrupted furbolgs, all creatures that have been said to stand by the Kaldorei at times of trouble are welcome! If you’re a natural being willing to fight alongside us in a bid to restore and cleanse the forests, you’re welcome!
Thank you for your interest in the guild! We will be discussing whether or not we believe your character could somehow fit into the guild, seeing the nature of it, as well as out goals. I’ll defenitely get back at you! ^~^
