A statement regarding RP and the server

Right, not sure how much attention this gets but I felt like I had to get this off of my chest regardless cause it’s actually been affecting me and also deteriorating the enjoyment I get from RPing at rapid pace.

To begin right off the bat; what do I mean - and what is the cause of my enjoyment of RP fading? Well; rampant OOCers, lollers, griefers - and lastly - ERPers and their degenerate guilds and hives which serve one goal; that of wanting to get into everyone’s pants - including those of minors.

So. We had the CoEG debacle. Now we have a ‘new’ guild, which is perhaps even far worse - Midnight Sinner.

In the past few weeks, perhaps months even, I’ve seen these vile beings in many places. Kharanos and Stormwind as an example, rather than staying in the cesspit that is GS, these degraded, immoral wretches venture outward and appear, oft times, in big numbers. Some time ago us dwarves had an event in the Kharanos tavern, 'lo and behold, moments after it was filled with these… I am not even sure what to call these wretches… that they’re rampant ERPers is obvious, but they were ‘lolling’ (tbh I am not even sure what they were doing) and making it pretty much impossible for us to continue the event peacefully.

There’s been heated discussions about this in another thread, and on a discord server to which a message was eventually posted;

There. These are the people that “RP” on this server folks, and there are many more of them. Of course, many would say “just ignore them and RP” but nowadays I feel the quality server has degenerated and atrophied so much that at this point it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for me to get decent RP going ANYWHERE unless there is a guild event, or events in cooperation with other guilds which are usually not public and held privately. It is not only these ‘Midnight Sinner’ guilds. Just this evening I saw two night elves from a guild with questionable TRPs, one of which the ‘Currently Status’ literally said: Mistletoe on his groin with a text that says: “kiss below the groin”

About a week ago I even saw a dwarf that I once RPd with in the past, quite literally ERPing in Stormwind City with another human. I was disgusted by this that a person I once RPd with, was just laying about fondling with a young female human in Stormwind. Sure, you might say “it’s Stormwind city”, but I am just so sick to death of seeing this crap over, and over, and over again.

In the end you could just say that nothing can ever be done about this, and that I should just ignore them, but I feel that it’s gotten to a point where it’s actually just a giant circus. I suppose I can remind everyone though to tell any friend or guildies that you have to report these heretical acts and any player involved with them.

Urgh. These people just do my head in… but that’s all. Just needed to vent and hope people that have zero interest in this ERP business to report and accuse these literal criminals.

Meh I mean they’re all pretty bad, I furthermore think that ooc stuff like meme roof etc saps the enjoyment out of roleplay and even the player base, despite me spending a lot of time oocing there. As someone also who’s losing enthusiasm, I’d probably say it’s the increased growth in cliques and mob like behaviour on argent dawn. I’m personally here to roleplay, but it’s tiresome with everything being branded and pretty phoney.

The big :pill: is that the playerbase is aging and enjoyment waxes and wanes with the moon. I want to get into RP again, i truly do but honestly?

I just don’t think I enjoy it - or this game - as much as i used to.

Thing is, untill Blizzard cracks down on them, they won’t leave. We’ve seen how useful reports are, they’ll just be back later. At this point it’s like fighting the mythical Hydra, and unlike Hercules we don’t have the means to sear the wound shut so no new head grows.

I recall having the idea once of atleast taking TRP away from trial accounts so that atleast the amount of disturbing profiles’d be reduced, but the creator said they weren’t going to do that, so yeah.

Best thing you can honestly do is atleast try keep your friendlist/guilds/events clear of folks you know that do it. Is it a good solution? Nope, not if you want the entire server rid of them. But atm it’s all we can do :frowning:

Even if I’m really (REALLY) casual when it comes to RP (mostly because of stupid reasons), I’ve seen this issue quite a lot in my small RP times.

I’m not familiar with this infamous guild so I can’t really give any opinion but I can say something about ERP.
I think ERP has taken a step further. I guess everyone is aware that it’ll always exist no matter what but now you can just find people ERPing everywhere.

I remember a couple of weeks ago, I was on my rogue Orgrimmar - Wyvern’s Tail I saw a Demon Hunter and a Death Knight ERP there, probably I found it odd because I’m not familiar with RP but I don’t understand why someone would choose a ’public place’ to do those kind of things.

But again, you can pick my words with a pinch of salt since I’m really casual.

^^ in regards to above, I’m just going to point out that this is what I mean. Players in the new age of roleplay have become so fixated on discord, forming groups and trying their best to lampoon others, it’s sad and petty, and it’s killing roleplay.

i know but you do/did back it and weirdly show up in our guild discord just when word of that little incident was starting to spread, quietly lingering for a few hours trying to find nonexistent dirt before u left :smile:

I wish we as players would be able to have a fifth option of report that would be called “RP-violation” or even a new way of reporting that could have us highlight parts of or multiple messages that appear in our chatlog. I think we can all agree the server would be better off without such players, especially the criminals that somehow get away with their disgusting acts, but as Desartin said there is no real solution to this available right now.

Discord has its uses for cross-faction communities and guilds. If blizzard won’t cater to it, somebody else will, right?

Yes I’m not going to claim the moral high ground to say that I’m perfect and you guys aren’t, so don’t insinuate that. What I am illustrating is how malicious players become when they’re put into a pack, it’s a group mentality thing; and I personally believe that is one major downfall of roleplay, as players care little for the roleplay and rather instead focus on their own status within circles.

think you’re just projecting because the vast majority of RPers I know have far more interest in RP than they do in status. Hell, most people tend to shy away from spotlights.

I slightly agree, and i slightly disagree.
Information is easier to come by, which is a good thing.
But that also means that RP feels very “instanced”.
Some people only RP when they can join an event, and then they sleep till the next event.
While random RP was much more common before Discord.

Discord has helped organizing bigger events, but somewhat at the cost of random RP.
