A thread for discussing the A³ (All Across Azeroth) community and the PCU

It’s a very Americanized way of dealing with things. Blowfish it and sink the teeth in like a rabid pit bull and not let go.

Guilty until proven innocent mindset. Requesting full essays of apologies and explanations for every word by people who have not been involved other than “having heard that…”.

It’s tiring and incites aggressive resistance. Except that we’re all now pushing 30 and simply outgrew being aggressive on the interwebs.

I was in the community for quite a while and for two and a half years, I was running The Painted Shields on my ol’ character Kezuga (you should join them btw :ok_hand:), so with that said I’d like to comment here too.

Some people here have been demanding answers or an explanation from this cool new community’s members just for being associated with the old crew because of whatever wrong has been done to them but the truth is, not only they shouldn’t be forced into a corner for all this PCU talk, I reckon a majority couldn’t give you an answer if they tried.

A lot of the bad was done by a small group of that old community, most of them have now left a long time ago and what is left are regular class folks who had nothing to do with the drama. No, these people are folk who come back from school or work whatever who want to log in and have a good time without being given questions or straight up harassment for someone else’s behavior that dates back years ago. It’s just not nice.

I remember back when I was running my guild, I had to do a lot to protect my members who were completely oblivious to the hostility to the PCU from randomers who we’ve never met who just wanted to cause trouble. And it’s a shame people need to watch their own backs over this old grief they’re not involved in still.

While I didn’t always appreciate how a number of PCU officers conducted themselves, I also gained some friends from the community, and have enjoyed roleplay with many of its members. There is value in treating people as individuals instead of a hive. And I’m glad that we seem to have finally reached a time where most people have simply grown bored of the Us Versus Them mentality regarding the topic.

I think the rebranding is a good thing. Wishing all the best!

P.S. There was a fleeting mention of the shenanigans committed by player or two in the RL meetup thread, and I’d just like to add that members of this current community were the ones standing up against such behavior the most, before the thread was cleaned up. So please don’t hold it against them as a ‘recent example’ - those couple of players are not part of this current community as far as I know.

They certainly are not.

I can confirm. Lakeworth called it out immediately upon seeing it, as did others in the thread.

Hope you are doing well. Good to see you around now and again.

I first brought it up with a member who stood up for me years ago when there was friction between me and some PCU officers in ways that were somewhat stressful. It was good to see unified action taken at once by the present community.

Honestly this doesn’t surprise me at all. That their entire raison d’être was to be obnoxious, unpleasant, and never roleplay sounds about right. The damage they did was undeniable, since they ensured that people like me never even went near PCU guilds after a certain point. You still see a few of them around acting like old men yelling at clouds, but they mostly just get ignored which is nice.

That is to say that the major weirdos aren’t entirely gone, but that most of them seem unguilded/unaffiliated now.

I can only speak for myself when I say that I’ve dropped quite a few friends on account of them being nasty/toxic/whatever over the years. I feel a lot better for it.

Very well put honestly. People on the forums–myself included–felt a sense of catharsis about venting on the topic without feeling like it’d end with a target on our backs.

I don’t actually think the topic really merited a thread to begin with though tbh – the only reason the conversation came about at all from what I can tell is that Dirge mentioned an A Cubed community in their guild thread and posters were asking what it was. A simple ‘oh it’s our rebrand’ would have been enough, since it was fairly obvious anyway.

That’s fair enough. I find it hard to get rid of people despite their behaviour. Because, such as they are, I know they’d stand by me when the going’s tough. I know if I called upon them, they’d respond. Reliability is important to me in friendship, and in turn, I try to offer the same.

This can be said for all those I hold close. I make sure to choose them well.

The more I dig into it, the more I find.
How do you expect people to move on after something like this (https://imgur.com/a/uPctYqe) ?
Looks like you’re trying to ‘rebrand’ just to hide your dark past. It’s easy to just find a scapegoat that conveniently doesn’t even play anymore, but things like mass-flagging gnome jokes must have had many people involved, especially for duration like this (crazy!). You can’t just tell all these people aren’t playing anymore :pouting_cat:

You must find peace in your heart, and learn to move on from these tiring games. Godspeed, and I wish you luck in that endeavour.

I will not be interacting with you regarding this subject.

Thank you, Acrona, for your continued support to the communities that mean so much to me personally - both your comments here about A³ and your wonderful work for the Kaldorei scene!

You only get a 1000 year long ban after having been suspended multiple (6+) times.
Why are you still acting like a clueless moron?

Lilynore what is you talking about

You mean like you have done at least three times now?

Somebody is definitely lying here

Yeah, the person who is actively lying about how Blizzard’s moderation system works. (And it’s not Hatescale)

Were you that gnome involved?

I have been banned 17 times. Sometimes for a few days, sometimes a few weeks, a few times a few months. And I’m still here, with TL3 no less…

But yes, I can confirm I do know a sentence so powerful that it will instantly land you a ban. It’s not a slur mind you, and it involves a race from this game. You will get banned within a minute.

I call it the Power word: Ban
