I understand and agree with all your points about the unfairness and mechanics, but “MM should be petless period” is a very blind and insensible suggestion. Solution to these issues is to make pets cosmetic-ish and give you access to all the utility even without a pet (more here). You don’t have to deny the pet playstyle from others to achieve this. There just IS a “pet player base” and “pet-less player base”. It won’t change. And these extreme suggestions/solutions are not the way forward. The options are.
What a stupid take. As a little overstatement, looking at it generally, why should it ever make sense to do more damage without a pet? It doesn’t make sense lore-wise, and it makes no sense as a trade-off, since pets have to be managed and don’t have 100% uptime. Doing more damage without a pet is a twisted idea, which we kind of got used to without making a sense. And an inseparable part of my suggestion is to give access to the pet utility to pet-less players, so of course the damage output should be the same then.
You’re completely wrong in saying this as a generally applicable truth, because that works only somewhere. In PvE raiding, this is COMPLETELY wrong. These “huge advantages” have no value there, or at least very minimal value when compared to damage from Lone Wolf. And that’s clearly evidenced by EVERY MM Hunter playing pet-less in raiding.
That’s because throughput is always what you “have to” choose for raiding. Generally, any choices between throughput and something else are bad design, which is proved by being removed as of lately with class reworks. Having to decide between a pet for utility or no pet for damage is the precise example of bad design, because damage is always the answer in raiding. Lone Wolf is clearly a mandatory pick. Existence of Lone Wolf is clearly locking MM hunters as pet-less in PvE. That’s why it’s wrong, no choice there. It’s not just about your perspective of arena vs. bgs.
And that’s exactly the biggest issue of it all. In absolute majority, people just want to be purely with pet or purely without a pet. I don’t think anyone wants to be switching this based on content. That’s because this is primarily a fantasy choice, not gameplay choice. And the only mature, understanding and tolerant solution to this is to make pets a cosmetic-ish choice (and give access to utility to pet-less playstyle).
You’re so pathetic with self-convincing about this, but to address this one time:
- People don’t need to have hard-core end-game experience to have feelings or opinions about fantasy/immersion.
- You’re judging me (which you don’t even have right to) by one profile. If I did the same with you, as level 10 scared Vulpera with hidden profile, you haven’t even started playing, so stop having an opinion, right?
- I have multiple KSMs and AoCs. You have to be completely d-u-m-b to call this “no experience”. Majority of the player base is not even attending such content, so they clearly cannot be represented by people such as you, who think that only Mythic raiders have right to give suggestions.
- I’ll solve the mystery of no enchants and gems for you - I am not playing S4. Mindblowing explanation to your sophisticated investigation Not to mention that not everyone is dependent of being fully over-geared.
- By correcting you’re assessment of the Hunter changes above, I already showed understanding of the Hunter class, while you even forgot that new talents and Hero talents exist. You’re not in a position to judge my knowledge.
Stop trying
The ratio of empty toxicity to useful opinions in your posts is sky-reaching.
You clearly don’t care about Hunter fantasy, immersion and cosmetic choices, so why don’t you just go smash buttons with another class? I care. This is an MMORPG. The role and its fantasy are important.
