Ye the 1k is a PH it should be like “you pay the sum of XYZ respec upfront” and you can have another tree but still the 50g fee for the respec.
No it is a Legion things because in Legion became FREE the cost, and you cant respec everywhere like before.
So yes the new standard is a Legion thing.
The fact that you had to go back and forth to respec in Classic up to Cataclsym doesnt make it good, and we saw how changed in live and how makes people try different spec on spot without much fuzz, which means that having the possibility to swap spec freely doenst give you free gear, just like having a dual spec in TBC will not give you free gear out of nowhere.
Talent Tree are good system? Surely.
Respec system like in classic? Nah, and we see how every other mmo managed this aspect.
There are literally no solid evidence against dual spec* in TBC especially when the PRO are:
- People playing different spec
- People playing both PvE and PvP in the proper manner.
- People not having to rely on alts to farm or even worse to buy golds.
The CONS are non sequitur because if a random dude on the server has a dual spec this will literally have 0 impact on your gameplay but will have 100% impact on his.
*fitting into the Classic/TBC mentality so:
- Dual Spec at 1-5k price to unlock the 2nd tree
- Still 50g fee to respec any tree at the trainer.
So you still have the chore to go back and forth to respec but at least is just in particular cases plus you will still make the Dual Spec not like a FREE GIFT but more like something that you farmed to unlock.

It is entirely my thought.
I am currently 30 years old and although I spend quite a bit of time in WoW from time to time, I have more important things to do in my life.
If possible I would like to spend as little time on the boring aspects of the game, and therefore leave more time and space for the really fun aspects of WoW.
What is boring and time wasting for example ? = hours of gold farming just to be able to respec and play the game with suitable talents.
Yes, gold farming is part of WoW and MMORPGs for sure. But wasting hours in farming gold just to be able to switch talents AND after that to be able to play/enjoy a different gameplay style is not fun for everyone.
So if Blizzard agrees to make specialization switch easier / more accessible than it was during true TBC, I’m clearly not saying no.
- In WoW, different gameplay styles are offered but require the right skills to play (ex: Raids, Dungeons, Battlegrounds, PvP, grinding, leveling …).
- If we don’t have the right talents, we have to pay to reset the talent points.
- If we can’t pay, then we can’t play and change our gameplay style.
- Or, we have to spend 2-4 hours in gold farming… sure.
If no change is made there, ok too bad but at least we have TBC coming back.

It’s sadly too late mate.
People were sick of Retail wow so they asked for Classic, only for Classic to already get retailified barely 1 expasion later. Worst thing being that a good chunk of the players is okay with it because “hurr durr I don’t have time and leveling is boring so that makes it okay.”
Hope we’ll get TBC Classic Classic someday.

Also telling people to go back retail, when you have spent money on Collection Edition for mount and boost.

Well, i would only raise the respecc fee for max level players. In healer specc e.g. it is not possible to quest/solo-level efficiently. You are forced to dungeon level which is simply not possible for everybody. So i level as feral/moonkin and i am forced to play it in dungeons too and i need to collect healing gear throughout level process because otherwise i am way behind at 70… It is annoying…
If you genuinely can’t afford 50g in TBC then you’re doing it wrong.
I did request dual spec in TBC, though we didn’t get it. Oh well.
We also didn’t get guild bank, or the LFG tool, which both were part of TBC. That probably gives you a good idea of how rushed TBC release was.
For now, they need to add these 2 features, and fix silly bugs. I will still carry on asking for DS once the base game works OK. You never know, maybe towards the end of P5, like they removed spell batching towards the end of P6 in Classic.
