Whatever you do, do not hire that guy, Duncan Jones, as the director. Of all the things he could ruin, he ruined the story, by changing major and minor plots of Warcraft 1 to make them look more Hollywood-ish. Some of the twisted plots are:
Lothar having a son just so that he can die and then Lothar will be in pursuit of vengeance, ending up slicing the balls of Blackhand.
Blackhand dying by Lothar in a Mak’Gora, while he actually died by Orgrim, who wanted to take revenge for the death of Durotan and Draka.
Orgrim being a total douche by warning Blackhand of the Frostwolf rebellion. We know he’d never do that. At least he regreted it.
Durotan not dying alongside his wife by Gul’dan’s assassins.
The romance between Lothar and Garona, and the implication that Medivh was Garona’s father, while in truth, Medivh and Garona were lovers.
Llane Wrynn’s death should happen in the keep, not in the battlefield, and Garona should be out of control, not stab him with tears in her eyes.
High Elves were ugly, and I am pretty sure they had blood on their teeth (the director mabye didn’t know what a “Blood” Elf means).
The Golem in Karazhan looked nothing like an infernal or the Curator (an actual construct of Medivh, which we saw him create in the same year, in patch 7.1 Return to Karazhan), and looked fake.
The Ironforge scene just didn’t represent Dwarves as they should be represented. And the word “boomstick” sounds so rediculous. We say Dwarven “Riflemen”, and not “Boomstickmen” for a reason.
The captive Draenei in the opening scene looked like typical Hollywood aliens and were too skinny for Draeneis.
Llane refering to the Eastern Kingdoms as the Seven Kingdoms just nods to Game of Thrones, and makes it seem like a desperate reference.
Did Lothar and Garona have a romantic scene in the Goldshire Inn for the reason I think they had?
These are but a few. Also, that monster of a director expressed his plans for sequels, one of which would be the “Lord of the Clans”. Now, we all know Thrall was informed by Medivh about Kalimdor, but Duncan just thought it will be a good idea to have Thrall learn about Kalimdor from a Tauren captive in Blackmoore’s keep (Durnholde keep), which is in Hillsbrad Foothills. How would a Tauren cross the Great Sea with a pirogue? How did he get there?
The story of Warcraft is really messed up in the mind of this incapable actor. If a second movie occurs, please don’t hire him again. Let Metzen be the director. He will follow the script he himself wrote more faithfully.
Now that I am at it, why was the movie made to strictly not surpass the limit of 2 hours? Other, similar movies like the Hobbit last about 3+ hours. Was that done due to limited budget? Or just another stupiddecision? If it is the latter, cancel this director from the list, in case you haven’tdone already.
I mean if there is a movie to finish the story of the first one, thats fine with me. But seeing its popularity i still doubt it. It was supposed to be a 3 part thing. Wich just does not seem likely to me due to the first movie being very unpopular
It’s literally Duncan Jones’ word that there literally won’t be another movie compared to Metzen sharing a clickbait article from a crap source. I know exactly who I believe.
The cult following you mention isn’t as large as you think. Nowhere near large enough to turn any sort of meaningful profit, just like the first one didn’t. Replying with “BUT YOU DON’T WORK FOR BLIZZARD” is just childish. Use some common sense man.
Not a man but you speak like you have proof none of us do .
If you can not take a little tongue in cheek the forum is not the place for you and please stop assuming genders thanks
While the first movie did flop, it didn’t flop that hard to completely rule out a second movie, which doesn’t make the same mistakes. Doesn’t even need to be a movie, could be a series too.
I’m fine with whatever, as long as it’s good. Movie? If it has a good story, good actors, direction, and enough time to polish it, I’ll watch it. Series? Same thing. Animated/CGI series by the Blizzard Art Team? Heck YES! Gimme that.
Latter is unlikely to happen, because who’d work on the game’s art then?
The movie was overwhelmingly popular in china. So even though, it didn’t sell much in other areas according to their expectation, China kind of carried the whole movie by its own.
I’d like a Warcraft movie, if it focused on Arthas’ story and maybe a bit of Illidan’s story.
Let’s face it - these two were big driving factors of the W3 story.
