Accidentally deleted a quest item - lost 45 min of farming

Hello!
I am a bit sad about the fact, that i spend 45 minutes on the quest “Tanaris Field Sampling”, and when i accidentally deleted one of the samples, I lost all that I had farmed. I think this feature that deletes everything related to a quest is complete bogus! - it doesn’t feel like classic to me even (since its a feature that was introduced later). It would also be nice to be able to delete a quest like “Troll Temper” and keep the items, so you can pick up the quest again, and go to Zul’Farak to pick up where you left off.
I have tried submitting a ticket, but the system for doing so sure has become complex, so i dont know if i did it the right way. I really hope to get those items restored, but I can’t find them in the restoration tool. And it says there, that if i cant find them, they cant be restored. How frustrating! Feels like im talking to machine that is trying to avoid me.
Just my opinion - hope it will be taken to account.

Yeah that bullshat about deleting ALL quest items when you only intend to delete one is something I noticed in Cataclysm the first time. It did not happen in vanilla afaik. It’s a stupid mechanic anyway.

I am glad i read the comments on wowhead about that quest, it certainly prevented me from that disaster and I agree that quest is complete bollocks and the most nerve-wrecking quest ive ever done getting ganked in the midst of it all.

It really is a quest not worth doing imo but I did since it is a quest i have skipped every time ive lvled in azeroth.

You deleted the items - where is your complaint?

Ive never had this problem because i dont accidentally delete items.
Nothing wrong here, just dont remove items

Accidentaly? U accidentaly pulled one item from your bag to destroy it, a HUGE sign popped with red letters, that u will also abadon quest and everything related to it, then you clicked on accept, of course by accident again…

Not defending that system, even tho for me its better to get rid of Q and Q item at same time if i dont wanna do that Q, so i dont need to look which item is to what quest , but i kinda dont see how you can do it by accident

If it worked differently in vanilla, then it should be fixed in Classic to match vanilla behaviour.

It worked like that in later patches, and since we are playing on latest patch you know

I don’t think that it worked like that even in WotLK.

The confusion comes with the fact that certain quests require you to hand in items which are not actually labelled as ‘quest item’. Hence even the vendor is often accepting them. But on the brighter side it means you can buy them off the AH or other players.

It did not work like this in Vanilla (patch 1.12). You could delte items and keep the quest or delete the quest and keep the items … or indeed split a stack of Q items and delete this one without deleting the quest.
This you actually had to do sometimes with things like the quillboar quills in Barrens, say you had 59 quills, (they stack 20), you kill one quillboar dropping 2 quills. As you cannot hold more than 60 quills, you had to “unstack” one quill, delete this and then loot the Quillboar for the 2 last quills.
This is definitely a bug - and a BEEEP irritating one at that.

Glad i read this, i have a quest where i have 8 out of 7 items, and if i deleting that 1 extra quest item i have means it will remove all the items, its just bad.

You’ll get warning window before quest is deleted.

I just tried to delete 1 of the extra quest items i have, only warning i got was that it will delete the item, said nothing about the quest.

So i did not delete it ofcourse, since it deletes all my quest items ? as the OP said.

i have 21 plagued flesh samples and 6 stratholme holy water, and i think the reason i was able to loot extra’s was that i had 1 of each in my bank before i did my last stratholme run.

This feature is stupid. I really wonder if it’s 1.12-like or not. If not, let’s hope it gets fixed ASAP.
