I’m having a real hard time understanding this wack “BuT iTs aN aLt” argument. So what? Does it have any impact on you at all if someone has a good geared alt?

Yes everthing ypu put into the game have impact on everybody els. Thats kinda nature of mmo games.

Those shouting the loudest for account-wide Essences are not really playing alt’s, they just haven’t truly grasped the meaning of - or the ability to differentiate between - a ‘Main’ and an ‘alt’… they’re stuck in the confusion limbo of not being able to commit to a true main.

I am playing with engineering/enchanting. Sometimes I want to farm meat, but it is much more efficient to farm with character that has skinning. So having an alt that has skinning provides the bonus that I with 1 character do not have. Now you maybe are wondering why I am not then switching my professions around. I don’t want to lose enchanting, because then I lose ability disenchant drops from group content. Engineering I don’t want to lose, because it provides some interesting gadgets.

There is also the timegating. With 1 character I can only do so much and earn only so much, because of timegating. But with multiple character I could fill my whole day playing.

Weekly chests. If I play with one character and I ran dungeons 10 times, only 1 run will be valuable. 9 other will have significantly less value. If I have 10 alts and run with 1 dungeons with each, all of those character will have much more valuable rewards.

Also the missions boards. It is known fact that you can make decent amount gold with just doing missions boards with multiple character, because you can transfer war resource to alts.

Account wide essences is a terrible idea. Do you want fresh 120s blowing through all content because they have top essences already? It’s like heirlooms for max level. Also not fair for new players.

Guys, i don’t want to play on multiple accs/characters, i just changed my main character, i’m a death knight now, and i hate the fact that i have to spend billion of years to farm those essences ONCE AGAIN…

the main problem with farming essences is its just boring, running visions for the cloak is somewhat fun at least

If u can play 18hours u for sure can grind some essence on your alt here and there

Can confirm, and the worst is that you can’t even spend a day or so purely farming, because you’re locked behind things like nazjatar and mehcagon dailies.

3rd 120+ char that I’m gearing up since 8.0. Most recent char in 8.3, and I’m 100% sick of the essence farm.

My rogue sims 20k dps less than my DH at roughly the same ilvl. Sure outlaw isn’t as good as DH for single target (patchwerk), but 20k? I’m far behind in essences and I most likely won’t ever be able to catch up, switching mains is almost impossible in 8.2 and 8.3.

Except that in the current state, you can’t really switch mains either.

I disagree with this, we’re in 2020 and WoW feels like it only lives in the past. Making gearing alts easier would give the game a lot more horizontal progression and there are already MMOs out there which proof that this concept works well. WoW needs to change, it only lives from nostalgia at this point and will get another hit with New World, FF update and ESO update coming soon.

“It has always been this way” and “just give everyone everything” are very weak arguments by the way. The game doesn’t become more hardcore by grinding the same boring stuff over and over again.

No idea why you quote me there. I only said that you are not fully geared getting immediately essences on an alt. 280 ilvl dingend alts are not really that OP. Even with good essences.

I replied because being fully geared (as in actual gear), doesn’t get you very far either
