Add a consumable that temporarily allows flying in Draenor & Legion w/o pathfinder

A consumable that lasts for like 15 minutes that allows flying in Draenor and another item that allows flying in Legion (Without having Pathfinder).

Make it a craftable item by Engineers or something.

It would let newer players enjoy the leveling of alts in older zones without the disadvantage of lacking flight.

And when new expansion hits, a similar item for BFA zones could be added, but always keep flying only for Pathfinders in current expansions.

What do you think of that?

Edit: Of course i’d ideally like Pathfinder completely removed as a requirement for flying in previous expansions. The reason for this “workaround” is that it seems Blizzard has made up their mind not to make it easier to obtain Pathfinder in previous expansions, nor do they want to remove it. So meet us halfway until you decide to do something about it.

Yes, if it’s Enchanters, and it’s a boots enchant.

OK, here is the chain of 600 quests you need to complete to get it.

I think they should just remove Pathfinders from previous expansions. It makes sense for the current one but it doesn’t make much sense for older ones.

I agree, i don’t like them asking from new players to grind previous content that hard to enjoy the comfort of flying. Right now it’s too hard, it needs a massive nerf AT LEAST. Or a workaround like a consumable that either lets you enjoy the content or work on pathfinder without having to navigate on ground.

Levelling is so fast and quests so close together I don’t think newer players need it for levelling alts.

Well, it’s way faster if you just collect treasures

Just remove Pathfinder for expansions, particularly for two expansions behind current (as a compromise, I suppose).

Rework them into a “Completionist” line of achievements… Keep the mount, slap a title and a transmog set on it. Players who already have the achievement get the new stuff, you keep an incentive for players to go and do it, and you no longer remove quality of life for newer/returning players.

Nah. You spend like 8 levels in Draenor, and thanks to the whistle I had no problem getting around the broken isles at all.
Besides, I spent ages unlocking Legion Pathfinder 1 & 2. I’d be miffed if they all of a sudden just let people fly around without doing the achievement. I know it sounds selfish, but that’d be a lot of hard work I put in for nothing.

What’s always confused me is how you “forget” how to use a flying mount in a new expansion. It’s like going into a new country and not knowing how to drive, not knowing local rules yes, but you don’t forget how to drive.

There’s a difference between doing Pathfinder while it was relevant, and going out of your way to do it.

You naturally progressed through most, if not all, the Pathfinder requirements playing through the endgame in WoD. New/returning players don’t have that luxury, it isn’t their endgame. They will quest through Shadowmoon Valley and that’s about it.

Flying would only be QoL to go around hunting for transmogs, hunter pets, levelling and camping mount rare spawns.

Heh, actually I didn’t. I finished the Pathfinder achievement at level 120. I went back and unlocked it because I knew I’d be sending my alts there eventually (I’m an altoholic).
Flying is also handy for things like class halls and unlocking allied races. In the end it was worth the extra effort. So I’d say it’s still very much relevant today.
Draenor I don’t care too much about, because like I said, you’re not there very long anyway.

Please, stop using the excuse new/returning players. New players SHOULD explore the Broken Isles on land first, because it’s actually a pretty neat zone. They won’t see that if they skip through it.
Also, I am new(ish). I joined the game after BfA had already launched. I worked my butt off to get Legion Pathfinder, and I expect everyone else to as well.
Sometimes I wish they’d just remove flying in the game altogether. Things would be much simpler.

Why? Because it’s true? The Broken Isles is a neat zone, when it was relevant, and you weren’t levelling through one, maybe two, zones to progress to BfA.

I’m also not getting into the argument of dictating HOW players should play in an MMORPG of all things. There is nothing stopping players, like yourself, only using ground mounts to traverse around. If that is what you believe. I prefer quality of life and choice, particularly pertaining to now irrelevant content.

Wow. That’s so logical and accomplishes so much with a low amount of effort…

… guess they probably won’t do it.

Well yeah, i’d prefer removing pathfinder, but it seems blizzard is being stern on keeping it. A consumable could be us meeting them halfway for now. But in the long run nerf requirements for pathfinder alot or just remove it like you said and make it something cosmetic.

Sadly, I think you’re right.

There’s so many little, low manpower things that could be done to make WoW more enjoyable for everyone. Even something as mundane as adding 20-30 new WQs to the cycle every month to make doing them less monotonous. Playing a crab and killing turtles was fun the first three times. It got boring after the 10th. It became a joke after the 50th.

You keep saying “if it was relevant”, when it still is. Why do you think level boosts still come with the Dalaran pack? You still need to go through the Broken Isles to get from 100-110, and you still need it if you want to finish your class specific quest line. You still need it for most of the horde allied races. It’s still very much relevant to the game.
The whistle is QoL. You can use it anywhere outside, even if you fall into the middle of the ocean somehow, and it has a short 5 minute cooldown. It’s enough to get players around.
At the end of the day I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree.

Unless you believe that allowing new/returning players to fly around in Legion/WoD is somehow going to give them some secret 600 ilvl legendary… It’s no longer relevant.

Whatever they do on the Broken Isles or Draenor has absolutely no bearing on BfA or their progression. None at all.

Now if we were arguing about removing Pathfinder for BfA, right now, I’d be agreeing with you. I’d argue how terribly implemented it is, but encouraging players to play through current content as intended is fair, and allowing new players to zip around Nazjatar completely kills any concept of progression.

honestly, I stopped doing anything draenor related, COMPLETELY. At most, I go to garrison and that’s it. And given how many mounts and sets and collectibles there are, it’s a shame.

Because i can’t fly there and that zone is too boring to grind flying. 2 expansions passed. I think it’s enough to at least allow people to buy flying with gold or something. I totally understand flying being limited to pathfinder for the current expansion, but Draenor isn’t even the previous expansion. It’s really old.
