ADDONS for Classic, which are you using?

Advanced Interface Options
Atlas Loot Classic
Bagnon, all OneBag3 users should be converted, inshallah.
Auto Dismount (Why not, I am a XIV player and not afraid of bed)
Atlas and Atlas Loot - Because I am not going to sit here too much explaining that I had these 13 years ago and wanted them that bad too. Plus when I am in dungeon that I have never seen or seen in 13 years, well, the benefits outweight "destruction of classsic)
HealComm - When the time comes for it to have a function until then disabled he remains.
Auctionator - I AH a lot, and with AHDB auctionator is overall less daunting and more straight line auctioning tool, it will scan stuff and undercut the lowest price with few silver, lets you make custom stacks, and fixed it’s UI right away to mention 2/8/24 hour auctions instead of whatever Auctioneer suite lies. If someone has a hustle with -neer than you do yourself my babe is -nator
Better Vendor Price
Server Friends Only: If you play classic this clumsy, almost self destruction level of weak code put together is still one of best things you can have in classic wow.
Auction House Data Bae (AHDB) Classic - I do not claim to be an expert… But I do say I have tested auctioneer and Auctionator+AHDB. AHDBc for whatever reason can scan the AH in only seconds when others take way longer and I still try to figure out is it buggy, not getting everything or just balling on next nether level.
Questie - We know this
Field Guide - We may NOT know this one.
Clique - It is pretty cool especially for a healer hybrid as myself.
Titan Panel - Like Atlas, I had this 13 years ago you had this 13 years ago so what is problem?
Watto Classic - It seems to not get yeeted by the gorillion other addons I have kept enabled, so watto is now my junkseller. You could probably get by with SellJunk EZJunk etc. but Watto is one more alternative with separate button if you want to have it in a button or some addon is screwing your existing Looter Shooter.
Peggle - Peggle
peggle
Monkey Quest+And His Buddy (MonkeyBuddy)
BlizzMove - I come from FFXIV and even then it’s movable windows is not the reasn I wanted this addon 13 years ago and now I have it, brilliant.

Tiny Tooltip - This one is big, yet something that has minimal to none ability to “destroy the integrity of muh” whatever, this thing is amazing and has the understatement of the year for it’s addon name. Tons of things but main one is player character detail richer than nameplate or even clicking on them. Overall excellent tool to get actual data and usage out of tooltips especially with player characters and it even lets you disable the names ingame world for immersion. Mouseover is good as any way to get to know your fellow Troll.

FriendNotes - I have this, I do not think I’ve used it, it might have alternatives but same as server friends only, the idea is to be able to give notes about your friends in friendslist, useful in Classic probably wasted space in Retail.

And… WiM-3 - Again I used WIM 13 years ago, I missed it (and the chat bubbles) in the OTHER game I played a lot of past few years, and WIM… We’ve come home together.

Also for automatic addon updating I use this:
[grrttedwards/wow-addon-updater - Github is there, rest is on you]
It is hell to setup as you need Pyton 3.7(+) if you do not have it, bunch of prerequisites that are installed through command line. Some weird Pipenv setup for your wow updater folder and more.
But after that hours long bang against the wall? It becomes a link you double click and tells you “hey, stuff was updated, but most of it was not”
Very cool, would highly recommend.

I also use ELVUI with a crazy UI setup that is half something new to me half from my FFXIV healer setups to make me just better healer when needed and it has done that job for sure.
As it comes to addons and “keeping Classic Clean” I agree to a point, I did not want “better clearer maps” for example I wanted the old drawn looking ones that made you feel some orc drew it and now you have to think outside it’s box to get to your hidden shaman shrines etc.
On Other Hand, addons are a standout feature now and 15 years ago, WoW had them and WoW remains just about as only game of it’s genre to have a huge feature like this. FFXIV lets you customize your UI and individual scaling of parts etc but those UI setting possibilities just die in front of the WoW Addon system - one would be a fool to dismiss it completely especially if you want to take your dungeons a little bit more seriously, raiding and much more. Just find a balance really.

Leatrix Map is most balling, and still authentic map mod you can use, just disable it’s weird no-frame interface and you have a movable map that tells you secrets, might even whisper the codes for the bomb WHO KNOWS?!

Last note: I might use some addons I did not mention, because I feel that enough people said them and/or it might be useful or not depending on your playstyle like Details! Damage Meter and threat meters.

I’ve actually downloaded a Classic addon pack, but use only a few of them

Questie - obvious choice to make questing smoother
Inventorian - all bags in one, always used simmilar addons in every version of WoW because I can’t stand looking for my items in separate bags
Leatrix - nice to see the whole map and instances
Vendor Price - to know vendoring prices in case of selling something on AH or when you need to throw out the cheapest stuff if bags are full
Atlas Loot - don’t really use it much, except to check the level requirements for dungeons

Will definitely need some group UI for endgame raiding and something like Healbot if I decide to spec into healing.

Questie, Leatrix and Vendor Price for more comfortable experience.

WeaponSwingTimer, OmniCC, ClassicAuraDurations and ClassicCastbars for combat.

I didn’t plan on using addons for Classic, but turns out i kind of need them :joy:

I have to say; there is something kinda funny being that guy for others, so someone in my friends list will go “yo what is extimated value of X in AH vs Vendor” and I can just mouse over and tell them, at least according to my data, updated X number of minutes ago, and so on.

Bartender and Quartz for moving my UI around. Realmobhealth to know my tanks HP when healing. Later some threatmeter, because people will demand it.

That’s it for me.

That can GDIAF.

‘Saving time’ by not bothering to read any quest descriptions and just mindlessly following markers on a map, so that the entire leveling journey becomes meaningless and storyless - all just to ‘speed things up, and make it more convenient’; so that you can rush through content in the fastest manner possible.

Exactly the kind of mindset that created retail WoW in it’s current form. The journey is not important, only the destination matters. Speed, efficiency and convenience are the watchwords for everything.

It doesn’t affect me if others use Questie. Let them rush if they want to rush - but I feel sorry for them, because they just haven’t learned any lessons from previous expansions.

Questie does not prevent you from reading quest texts and some of us already know most of the quests. But it does prevent you from killing the wrong mobs for half an hour because you are tired and you start to wonder why the quest items don‘t drop or prevent you from surfing on wowhead for the location of an item or NPC where the description in the quest is just bad (and there are and have been a lot of quests with bad description where you would search for half an hour or more only two look for the correct destination on wowhead (in Vanilla still thottbot) after giving up on finding it on your own).

Vendor Price that’s what i use lol

Completly wrong. Please new people dont listen to this guy, just play the game how it was released if you want to trully experience vanilla.
Dont use any addons, you dont need then to play the game. Dont use any external sites as well and try figure your issue out for yourself.
Damn…dont play by guilde , its not playing its more like watching the movie except you do the clicking :frowning:

is this working?

The quest description usually tells you the correct mobs to go after. If it says to tame a Nightsaber Stalker, taming an Elder Nightsaber is clearly the wrong mob. If it says you must Kill Stranglethorn Tigers, killing Elder Stranglethorn Tigers is clearly the wrong mob… and so on and so forth. All that’s required is that you pay attention to what the quest description says.

And even if you ‘waste time’ killing the wrong mobs, so what?

Why is that ‘wasting time’? what’s the big hurry? It’s not a race. You’re still getting XP and loot from killing those mobs, therefore the time is never wasted.

There may be some instances when you might need to look up directions for a quest locations, that’s unavoidable unless you know the game like the back of your hand - but surely a better alternative is to actually communicate with other players - ask in chat… you know? Be sociable, build a community?

Advanced Interface options
Atlas (and its modules)
Auctionator (includes vendor prices and off-AH pricing)
ClassicAutoDismount
ClassicAutoQuest
ClassicCastbars
DBM
Leatrix (and its modules like full map)
OmnyCC
PerfectRaid
Questie
Skada
Spy
Tukui
Weakauras
WeaponSwingTimer
What’sTraining
XPtracker

And what is not there, can be added via Weakuras.

You really tell someone playing on an RP Server to be sociable? Guess what RP is based on. I don‘t need to ask for quest locations to socialize with the people on the server. And party building for quests and instances works fine on our server. And yes, if you are asking questions in chat people are answering them. In general I am one of those who answer questions regarding quests and most of the time I don’t need Questie for this. But there are this one or two quests that really … In each region.

And I hate to overlook quests. If I start in a region I want to do all quests (not very efficient, I know), but thanks to Questie I even found one or two quests I did not yet know of, even though I quested that region for at least 10 times.

Atlasloot+maps same as I did back in vanilla.
And I use TRP3 because now, unlike then I also RP. I don’t even use UI addons :woman_shrugging:

Wardrobe. Its an addon i wrote last night to mimic the equipment manager. Its on curse waiting for approval.

Also clique and elvui.

I only use “5 second rule”

In vanilla on my druid i only used “druidbar” that showed your manabar while in form (Will use that again when i lvl a druid alt”

None. And the game feels good without any.

I am trying to keep my list of addons as minimal as possible even though by the time TBC hit I probably had over 30 installed on my computer.

I am using:
IceHUD
AuctionFaster
DBM
Bagnon
Tomcat’s Coordinates
Bartender 4
AtlasLootClassic
Leatrix Plus

If I roll a healer at any stage I will probably also get healbot as I am terrible at mouseover macros…

ElvUI is working for classic now? Is it a separate download or what?

Yes. And yes.
