Addons problems

Although I’m searching the forums I can’t find anything. It’s strange. I’ve been having trouble playing with any addon since prepatch. I’ve tried uninstalling the game and with it curseforge or whatever that replacement for twitch manager addons is called. I’ve even tried a clean reinstall of the PC operating system. Nothing helped. Whenever I use any addon, even for example TomTom, the game automatically starts throwing an error in the window saying something about an error. When I disable such an addon because after going into edit mode the game shows another window that I have to either ignore or disable the addon it automatically chooses another addon, which starts throwing an error. Although the next addon is for example Deadly Boss Mode or Dps gaps. If I continue like this I have to play completely without addons. And let’s face it after a few years of playing with addons the game is unplayable without addons and doesn’t meet our desired requirements and expectations. I’ve tried really everything … from deleting the whole Windows and installing the game to renaming the folders where the game is installed according to the official instructions but also deleting the WTF file.

Not only that this error pops up completely randomly. It won’t let me go into edit mode because that acts as a trigger for these errors. But on top of that, whenever I go anywhere in the instance I have to put /reload otherwise I can only click on the action bar but keybind just doesn’t work - and I don’t have any Bartender or ElvenUI to edit the UI.

Do you have Lua error notifications on? It sounds like it.

Type

/console scriptErrors 0

to turn error notifications off, and then Reload.

I do see errors popping up from addons, and even from Blizzard’s own interface Lua code, but I figure the fixes will arrive when they arrive.

Not only Lua. For example Adibag addon throwing me two errors. One everytime i open inventory and second one absolutly random. Wich doesnt have “Lua” in code on screen.

What do the error messages say, exactly?

By searching for that message in the addon code, we may get a clue.

Without notifications, I won’t be able to recognize when using action bar spells with the keyboard stops working. I can always tell just by going into a location like a dungeon and either getting an error or not. Sometimes it doesn’t and it goes fine.

Well, if you have notifications, what do the errors in the notifications say? Exactly.

I leave notifications on, because I’m a devout code nerd, and I do see several I may end up fixing myself if they author doesn’t, but I’m not seeing anything like what you describe - for example, nothing from DBM.

Are you sure all your addons are updated?

Ye i have everything updated.

Adibag,DBM
Im not right now at pc but i saw a streamers using this addon and it works them fine. I have only basic default one without all additions wich can be downloaded.

What version of wow is this? ERA, WOTLK or Retail?

Rule of thumb. Classic addons are not WOTLK addons. Ther ERA.

Rename (not delete) your WTF folder. Introduce your addons one by one an see how it works out. It takes a while but it’s the best way to narrow down issues.

I already did that maybe 3 times … And i talk about Retail and diference between addon versions i know.

there’s something you’re not doing. If there were issues with add-ons hundreds of thousands of posts would be made.

I’ve really tried everything. The wtf delete, wtf rename…renaming the folders to Old. Delete cache. Reinstall the game. Reinstall addon Launcher and delete addons. Reinstall Windows. I don’t use any addons that are little known but very popular addons and they all work as they should. For example, I saw adibags running on AnnieFuchsia’s stream last time without any problems or error.

Well. First of all you should run the game without any addons at all.

Look through your addon client and look for addons that are not updated to latest version.
Addon list in game menu also tell you this.
Although it is not a definite rule, old addons can work just fine, until ther not.

If game run fine without addons. Activate your addons a handful at a time or so, to easier narrow down the culprits instead of one by one.

Maybe get Swatter. Or some other error handling tool.

Usually you just have to live with a couple errors. It’s safe to just suppress them and use the addon if it work despite errors. Problem is when you can’t suppress the error, like I’m struggling with dropdownmenu. dropdownmenus do not work for me at all, and it’s not something i can disable.

When I try to turn on the game without addons, after turning on edit mode, action bars fly randomly across my screen. The action button for certain types of quests and world quests is placed in the top left corner as well as one of the action bars. Whenever I put edit mode and turn it on it doesn’t go back to the way it was and on top of that it also shuffles the talent set things on the action bars …for example on mythic aeo I have talents directly that have a different order on the action bar but show me spell rotations from the action bar from the mythic burst talent tree.

There should be knowledge out there on this part.

It doesn’t matter if I run the addons one by one or not. As I wrote I tried absolutely everything otherwise I wouldn’t ask someone capable to fix it here.
The game always throws an error. It looks to me like it’s trying to force me to disable absolutely every addon.

But you said you did that and still got errors…

Well you need to narrow down the problem.
I have to say you go to far lengths on resetting things, like reinstalling windows and such.
Deleting WTF is already a very strong measure.

Where is your game installed?

I hope that this is not one of the rare cases of an incompatible GPU. Maybe try different graphics settings so you nudge the game and say, hey im here!

You need to tame it.

On main SSD disc on C: in program files - WoW - graphic card is Rtx 3060 12GB
