Rogues still exist. We use shadow magic.
Shadow priests still exist.
Don’t listen to this headcanon. If characters IC are wary of you, that’s one thing.
But the Spire or whatever won’t randomly exile you for being a Shadow Priest, I think.
That’s nowhere near what the Void Elves did.
That or as an actual void elf, pretty much. Should probably go with her having studied along Umric and co. and left them after they were banished, because, again, they had a common cause in unlocking the secrets of the void. As we saw from Umric and merry band of insanity, they’re still ‘allowed’ in the Ghostlands - probably due to it being a tainted mess already.
This is literally what the void elves did; this is what shadow priests are. It’s not even headcanon - void magic ((shadow and void is the same thing)) presents an immense danger to the Sunwell and the lives of every high and blood elf. If they practise in secret, then yes, there’d be a clause in other people perhaps not knowing. But knowing the sheer risk they are for the very lives of every elf in Quel’Thalas and beyond, why wouldn’t they banish anyone that openly wields the void? Like we saw them do.
Of course, many still use Shadow Magics within the Sin’dorei society. (And I expect the Spire Agents to use it even more than any others.) I never said the contrary. But it does seem that Umbric’s batch was entirely exiled.
This does not mean ANYONE studying such magic or else would be -directly- exiled.
But the problem is, with the Nightborne Recruitment, you see why they are exiled. But then again, we are talking about Alleria. An ‘beacon’ at this point.
Exactly. I don’t want this stupid headcanon to float around that any shadow user is to be exiled now.
A few months ago I had some random guy call my rogue a void elf traitor because I used stealth nearby.
Their reasoning was because it’s shadow magic, anyone that uses shadows gets exiled.
But no. It’s not that simple. The Void Elves were exiled because they took it too far.
Can someone tell me, though, were they exiled before the ethereal warped them into void beings or afterwards?
I forgot.
Umbric was warned to drop the research by Rommath several times. He refused to listen, so he was exiled along with his cadre of followers before they had even found Telogrus.
