50/50 on how accurate this is. We see this in one random void boi, not a major character, doesn’t really mean it’s in any way universal.
Regarding that point, I might be wrong but hasn’t Umbric stated somewhere that he would like the void elves to reclaim Quel’Thalas for the Alliance? Fairly sure that is the case.
I wonder what the reason is.
I personally try to a-void all the common sins and be authentic, playing up the struggle, sticking to what scant lore defines void elves to make fun stories. Sometimes, your old Allies just need to be told what they want to hear and justifying your utility keeps you from the proverbial(?) block.
Maybe maybe not. I think thr point of the character is to show there are some very negative and unfortunate side effects (beyond sanity damaging whispers) to what happened to the void elves.
It’s the whole social construct of “name=power”. It’s a bit of strange one but completely understandable if someone sits behind a faceless alt and spews vitriol while complaining about vitriol.
Couldn’t really put it better myself. Consider the following: not a few weeks after Void Elves were released we had the usual suspects attempting to have them lynched in Stormwind. That thankfully has fizzled out and they’ve retreated back to their hovels, largely because there was a general backlash against this type of roleplay on Alliance. Since then there’s really been no issue with Void Elves, other than the general weird cases (who also inhabit every other race too) popping up and being wacky/edgy/annoying in the local area.
Yes, it is the Void Elves aim to see Silvermoon free from the Horde and brought into the fold with the Alliance.

That said, the Void Elves would know they can no longer visit the Sunwell. They would understand the risk. The vast majority of Void Elves would still have a deep love for their homeland and the last thing they would want to do is devastate it in such a way. This does not mean they can’t return to parts of Quel’Thalas that are far from the Isle of Quel’Danas.
Void Elves came to Alliance as a military force, to be trained and supervisioned by major lore characters.
I keep meeting lots of Void Elves that are bartenders and so forth or hardly give a toss about Alliance military. - Or that an amount go rogue to do their own relatively evil / voidy business.
My Void Elf seeks to liberate the Blood Elves and turn the Sunwell into the Voidwell. Not all Void Elves are the same, or have the same motivations.
Not all Void Elves are the same, or have the same motivations.
I have a few points for this, actually, that reflect strict lore things and/or personal preferences of mine.
- Too many people RP them as evil, given that they’re literally trying to protect Azeroth and the Alliance (and life) with the Void
- I agree that the trend of ooc bashing void elves has become very irritating by now (feel free to hate them! Just please don’t keep insulting a race I’m passionate wbout in my face for fun)
- There’s frankly too much civilian Velf RP, it has always rubbed me the wrong way
- ‘Begone, Voidspawn!!!’
But on a brighter note, I’ve seen some really interesting RP and some fantastic Void Elves that tick all the good boxes, and are just really intriguing to play with. Usually people that don’t play ‘Unstable because of whispers’ (I don’t even know where to start) are doing a fairly good job at being nice to RP with, which is really all that matters at the end of the day.
While vastly true, they aren’t an actual race bound only by physical similarities. They were followers of a single individual and his goals. All void elves WILL share Umbric’s views, they were exiled for their determination to follow him.
Edit! Note that innkeepers and craftsmen contribute to a society as well, and particularly to war efforts, too, depending on just what they do- mercenaries and bartenders not so much.
Well, I did say the vast majority! I doubt the latter aim would be a widely held ambition.
Basically, “I know who you are” with all the metasocial implications and potential threats in this age of social media.
Not just attempting. Ironically, the Void Elves did not bring madness but reignited an old malady.
B-but there was a census!
Guess what? Those exist in the canon. We have Void Elf flightmasters, innkeepers and bartenders littered about in BfA.
these are good, and contribute
this one not so much. Curious where you saw it, I’ve not seen any regular ol’ bartenders.
I never understood Void Elf player-characters who go in a frenzy and start proclaiming openly that “we will conquer Quel’thalas, turn the Sunwell into a Voidwell, and turn all of you into Void Elves!”
Apart from the fact that it goes against everything both Umbric and especially Alleria have said, not even the Alliance would look kindly on such a thing.
Now you could say that they have gone insane, but that raises more questions.
There’s also Void Elf Pet Battlers which are absolutely important and valid Lore.
But- I agree with the above, given that they’re still Blood Elves and accepted exile. Void Elves shouldn’t hate Blood Elves and they sure as hell shouldn’t suddenly be screaming about major cultural taboos that make no sense, like defiling a thing that pretty much saved their people, for virtually no reason.
I think Malthan refers to the inn-keeper in Telogrus Rift. Unsure if that counts though, considering how that “tavern” isn’t really a tavern and more of a place for the scholars in Telogrus to sleep at.
By removing them from existence.
I stand corrected, they are scantily clad dancers. Look up Shade and Whisper on wowpedia. Patriots the both of them. o7
You wound me, my little grrrrreen frrriend…
