[ADRP] What is wrong with Void Elf RP?

People role playing Void Elves them, as the following are the issue. Thieves, neutrals, pirates or any other obscure concepts which the race isn’t supposed to be at all.

At least read their WoWpedia page and listen to the character creation narration when you make one.

Why? They lost all their possessions, and they’re used to luxury.

There are void elven bar dancers in Drustvar, though and I have no doubt that we will soon see some void elf pirates or similar concepts that people claim void elves shouldn´t be.

Original concepts not allowed.

i know the problem:

they exist.

sagely nod.

you lot are genuinely more boring than the last season of game of thrones, no lie. stop beating the dead horse

It’s almost like you don’t need to be dancing on the line of being an outlaw to have an interesting character :eyes:

  • be velf vagueposter
  • get questioned on a statement
  • just go silent and instead quietly like equally vague vagueposting

high brow forumposting.

I have actually yet to RP with a void elf, and that is not intended. They all seem to be sticking to themselves.

You’ll find that the correct term is SHADE posting, tyvm.

But, until I see IG confirmation of pirates/mercenaries etc, they will be a big no-no for me. At least they’re good friends with Lightforged, judging by those chatting and laughing NPCs outside the embassy.

Ren’dorei were a mistake, destroy all evidence, racechange them all to high elves.

On a more serious note, frankly my biggest peeve are people who roleplay void elves as these humans tinted purple and with long ears because they like sexy elven butts or something. Void elves have seen some :poop: in the void, it’s like having a demon hunter or a death knight doing civilian busywork.

Void elves are supposed to be rather rare and powerful, I frankly doubt that they’d waste their time and void powers screwing around Stormwind 24/7 instead of, well, doing something productive for the war effort, be it help on the backlines (like research or infiltration) or the actual front.

Other peeve of mine are people who like to go “haha, my void elf is crazy! “ because Umbric was accepted into the Alliance with Anduin pretty much saying “you better control yourselves, bro”. Just stop.

If only the many Worgen, powerful beasts, would do the same.
If only there was a lot of free-form and random RP on the frontlines.
If only it wasn’t all guild/events/roll battles.
I would be more than happy roaming the frontlines on multiple characters but alas, current zones are almost never roleplayed in.
That forces most people, including void elves, to do casual RP in stormwind and pretend they are doing useful things when they are not playing their character.

Ironically I have seen Worgen military guilds at least stay active, while the only really good void elf one (<Allerian Host>) merged with another one early in BfA and then died.

As for RP on the frontlines, I’m really sad to bring this up but I’ve heard there’s this cool thing called a guild which you can join so that you can get a steady supply of people to roleplay with instead of relying on sheer sharding RNG. And even so, frankly people can support the war effort even from Stormwind — imagine actually doing research into the powers of the void and other similar activities, that’d have been just way too logical.

I’d rather people RP because of characters, not because of guild.
I’m guildless because it filters out those people who only RP with me because I’m in their guild and wouldn’t even look at me if I didn’t have their guild tag.
But that is a rant for another place.

Isn’t there also “Starcursed” and some other Void elf guilds? Or are they bad, since you mentioned “Allerian Host” as the only ‘good’ one?
(how do you use the < without making the word inside disappear?)
I think more power to Void Elves if they want to be a painter or baker or whatever.
If it calms them and helps with the voices. I don’t think Blizzard intends the player-available races and classes to be overly difficult to justify playing your way.
There are plenty of void elves that are useful, and plenty that are not, like with any race.

While it might’ve been a tad elitist of me to say ‘good one’, I meant it in the sense of being active in RP campaigns and having active members. In a similar manner, there’s also a <Umbral Vanguard> guild, I think. As for our little argument, I suppose we’ll just leave it at that, seeing as to how Blizzard writers themselves seem to be not sure whether void elves are supposed to be some elite assault group or what.

As for <, I’m simply using the format of a code, aka you put a ` before < and one after >, so I guess you can do that in the future.

Friend, the Allerian Host morphed into the Hellbound, who are pretty much known war cirminals and made the Horde bomb civilians they illusioned and served to them on a silver platter. I have seen Umbral Vanguard in quite some places, though also largely in Stormwind- which I do not mind all that much. I tend to roam the city myself, but I play a void elf who usually spends time on research and shows up at war efforts, only to go back home and act as an emissary when nothing ‘bigger’ is up; a politician still, if you will.

There’s a difference between casual RP in SW and ‘I’m a civilian’ RP, after all.

Woah woah, those are some serious accusations lady. Where the heck did you get that idea-

It was self defense. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Considering Starcursed used to be Ilvanesta, yes.

You don’t have to lie. The Kaldorei were advocating peace with the Horde to the point they would share knowledge of secret pathways and patrol routes they observed with the Horde in exchange for safe passage out of the warzone to the south.

Remember, it’s not just a story when it’s the objective truth!

Only had positive experiences with them tbh. Same with the Umbral Vanguard.

An elf needs a hobby. Although in this particular case, yeah, Malthan pretty much stands by that business being entirely justified. Led to some brief PTSD for the Horde flyers as well iirc, which is always a plus.
