I use fear to peel the dps off me (and fear healer when I can), I stun their burst, I tp + line their burst while my healer is ccd; still I can’t seem to win while being 3rd or 2nd top dps too while having to deal with two melee dps zerging me the entire round.
Is there any way I can alleviate it beyond what I am already doing?
There’s not much you can do unfortunately. That’s the issue with shuffle, it’s extremely uncoordinated in a lot of lobbies. You can’t do everything yourself in that situation. If your team mates aren’t peeling for you then that’s a GG
I maining 2 chars, MW and Ret, and I play sometimes Affli.
When Im with MW I need to stay so close to the warlock portals, and have to move with him. Need to Tigers Lusts him, Ring of peace on him, in trouble stun the Dps instead of the healer.
When Im with Mw mostly I guess above 80% I win if a warlock is in the grp.
With my warlock most healers run away, or grip me out of my portals zone and then whispering my why I didnt kite (for example against a war and a UH. Nah, thats the problem.
When Im with my Ret, I have to keep on cd all my helpful spells, Sacrifice, Sanct, Stun, Melee Bubble, Freedom, World Of glory. It helps a lot, greatest enemy of the warlock is the slows. If he can keep his mobility its much better.
So I’d suggest you to depening on the teammates ask for help at the start. Rogs can stun disarm, slow, the enemys, hunters can root stun “Immune Freeze” the offtarget, etc.
Its hard. Your win (for at least 3 win) depending REALLY hard on teammates. This is why so much 3s Glad warlocks. They dont go up with shuffles, only with those who can understand that.
Use portal and gate to build distance from enemy so you can cast. Peel for yourself with coil and fear. You are immune to interrupts during unending resolve.
Get pvp gem that gives precog and learn to fake cast effectively.
If you still struggle because you are trained then switch to demo because it’s super tanky and hard to kill compared to affli.
Depends on the spec. Affli and Destro can do much damage under the pressure with insta cast abilities, Demo here suffers much more.
Main problem of the warlocks in SS is not just your outdated toolkit but also a clinically misunderstanding of healers with their positioning during the fight.
Too many times my healer ran away from the fight and away from my gateways, so was caught in situations where If I teleport then every single melee in the existence would just use 1 mobility spell and be on me in no time while healer will be 50-60yd away. Or Healer like priest would stand on my circle and drag me to my circle eliminating the possibility to use that ability effectively.
And the worst thing they think that combat positioning is centered around them, they think that you like any other class can replace your circle anywhere you want, when In reality you place it where you stand.
How about you learn to read?
Did I say there’s nothing you can do, or did I say there’s not much? OP already listed everything he could do himself. I pointed out it all comes down to your team mates to help you out.
So how about you use your brain and learn to read before you speak
The problem with shuffles is that you are more dependant on your teammates as a warlock then the other two melees being completly out of sync and still dunking on your.
Its very tilting I know but its the sad reality
That was my experience as well even though I played caster and warlock for only one season but many times its either kite the warr and then los the lost healer or give the melee a way to connect again and not los the healer.
With warlock the healer really needs to position well which sucks
Your not at 1800 because of your teammates stop the cap just improve at the game demo is fine currently.
Every class can be griefed by teammates you are going to win more games than you lose tho if you deserve higher rating i can play shuffle on my dk and the caster im playing with wont stack them all together instead tries to jump around doing random stuff when if they sit in death and decay its over i lose them games but still climb.
You should all stop with this ‘’ if you lose you deserve it cause x is 2k4…‘’ everybody get trolled by people never using cc or not pressing cd in times or never etc…
Sure it happen less at higher rating but it’s not 1 guy fault if his teammate are just horrible and you can’t carry them.
Play it then there was demo players at 2300 before the buffs also.
No its just boring listening to sp/lock players cry about meele when if you learn how to play the class its actually in a very good spot right now its just not free wins like you want it to be.
Okay? Gz to him? Again what does this has to do with the topic LOL?
This is about dealing with double melee, it ain’t about someone being hardstuck???
Where do you see people crying about melee? I’m fully aware demo is good. We didn’t need a damage buff but whatever. All we are saying is there is not a lot a single lock can do in a shuffle game vs double melee. With voice of course there is a lot you can accomplish
What is outdated about having literally everything? The problem isn’t that Warlock is weak or underpowered etc, its literally the fact that shuffle sometimes pairs you up with more unfavourable matchups than they are favourable. But like someone mentioned above, there’s a reason why people push cr (aka warlocks have reached higher ratings.)
But to not make this whole thing about the whole caster vs melee whinge fest;
The best thing you can imo do on a caster in earlier MMRs is build distance, bait the enemy DPS into terrible positioning where you have the upper hand in terms of range to healer, line of sight, set up etc.
Playing arcane mage, I kind of picked up on this quickly. Big maps are always your bread and butter, sometimes on the smaller ones like Blackrook/Lordaeron it can feel extremely tough to shake off something like a rogue, feral or even a warrior.
Patience is key! Sometimes you get rough comp / map combinations, and sometimes they’re extremely good for you. I think your best ones are Enigma Crucible & Nagrand by far.
