[A/H-RP] Eastern Kingdoms Rumour Mill

Hey everyone. With the many different threads used as rumour mills for Kalimdor, I thought it was about time the Eastern Kingdoms RP scene had one as well (and because my guild will be spending a lot of time there heh).

A vulpera has turned up dead with its neck snapped by the entrance to the tunnel between Arathi Highlands and the Hinterlands. While most assume it was simply found trespassing, it bore no items hinting at Horde affiliations. Rumours begin to circulate that this may be another sign of aggression from the Alliance.

At around the same time, reports come in of a small warband wandering the Highlands. Farmers have found crops looted and their storehouses raided, while tokens resembling the Horde’s insignia have been left in their place.

Large sums of wildlife and natives around central Twilight Highlands lie dead on the fields, slain by a branch of Black Empire Cultists to feed some sort of artifact.

A fair number of disappearances have come about from the hearths surrounding Thundermar and Kirthaven alike, only to be found slain within the fields and low-lands surrounding the Verrall river. This undoubtedly raises many questions and angered gatherings within the settlements of the Wildhammers situated nearby. The scouting parties are doubled to the sighting of a small warband scouring the Highlands, to be assumed Dragonmaw before the Horde trinkets were found. This news would’ve been sent to both Aerie Peak and Ironforge alike - for should such continue, the Highland doesn’t have the strength to deter this rising threat alone.

A local Quel’Thalas news article covers a series of graverobbing events, seemingly disjointed, happening both further south in Lordaeron and in the Ghostlands.

But one such occurrence stands out, as more details are available and thus given in the article:

The tomb of one of our own has also been desecrated. The remains of Blood Knight Master Kalen Redshield which had found their eternal rest in the Ghostlands, a region he held dear, have been spirited away by the robbers. Master Redshield was a veteran and war hero, having fought on two separate tours in the frozen wastes of Northrend, and is a recipient of the Phoenix Banner in Silver, presented posthumously by Knight-Lord Iresong on behalf of Matriarch Liadrin. He is survived by his loving daughters and wife.

Only one of the topics others may hear the Hordes mages discussing amongst themselves as they leave the Conclave meeting.

Some of the conversations may be heard from those Horde mages who attended the Conclave. An increase in necromancy has been detected in the northern wastes of Northrend. Talk of increased numbers of Death Knights is clear to hear and some within in the learned group are encouraging their peers to look north at the continent to discover what is going on.

At late night, a group clad in white and led by a man with raven black hair can be seen passing Uthers Tomb and saying prayers at the scene.

Father Winteroak spends the evening visiting Uther’s Tomb, offering his prayers, laying flowers at the feet of the statue and takes to reading an old, and ponderous, Libram by the light of the braziers. The murky-yellow glow of his undead eye adds some light to the pages, his priestly-white robes, Conclave and Argent insignia’s glisten softly by the fire’s light. A familiar twin-headed Eagle looks out from this surcoat, worn with pride and respect. As crowds of other faithful gather the Priest pays his final respects and takes his leave for the night, riding the road towards Hearthglen and arrives at it’s gates by first light.

As the night dragged on, till the rise of daylight. Word from the odd pilgrim or traveller whom had passed Uther’s tomb may tell of a light coming from the hills in the dark, along with a brief reflective shine from some angles. Although as time went on, the light dimmed. Allowing the more cautious to investigate. To find but the remains of a campfire, and a flattened part of the grass or dirt. A bedroll perhaps? Though the description and estimations change per person. Whoever was there had clearly moved recently.

[Rumour has it that an undead pilgrim was slain near Uther’s Tomb. A gathering of rangers and crusaders can be found camped at the Tomb, it’s said.]

A blood elf has been repeatedly sighted lurking near the ruins of Ar’Gorok.

“Seen ‘em I did, was loitering near the walls. Then vanished through the gate. Horde’s up to something, I tell ya. Can’t trust em’ as far as you can throw em’.”

Is the story spun by one farmhand.

[Rumour travels of an arrest made in the ruined outskirts of the city of Stromgarde, with a set of fights following the day after. What is certain is that one of the groups remains in Stromgarde, with the other departing once the fighting had concluded.]

[Some say they heard bells resonate through Tirisfal Glades. The melodic sound seemed to come from the now long abandonned Monastery. Probably nothing more than playful ghouls.]

[Word travels of a brief skirmish followed by a duel outside the gates of Stromgarde. In taverns and hideaways closer to the city, the name ‘Nathanael’ is cheered in his victory over a brigand lord.]

Rumour spreads in the upper part of the Eastern Kingdoms that Blood Knights are now being shuffled around and new taskforces are created, with the purpose of finally addressing the slew of recent graverobberies, starting with the one in the Ghostlands. Rumour also has it that they’re not acting alone, and might be closely working with other Thalassian departments

What remains of the Witherbark tribe has been doubtlessly diced between the forces of the Horde and the Alliance during the Fourth War, yet talk from East Arathi lands in the human city of Stromgarde that a motley group of Trolls soon seek to take advantage of the recent bandit uprising in the nation to strike at the heart of humanity. Could this be a true threat upon mankind, or just another murmur in the wind

News from within the ruined lands of Gilneas speak of the forces of the Nightfall Brigade once more in full force back in their base in Keel harbor, guarding the deep sea port and keeping an eye on the still sole land entrance to Gilneas, the now ruined gates in the Wall. Patrols can sometimes be spotted even venturing into Silverpine, searching for stragglers, both Alliance and Horde.

A bunch of Vulpera that go under the name of “Dustpaw” raided our farm!
They asked us for some grain, we offered them seven sacks of grain, they gave us a copper coin that was painted into yellow in return. Once they left they came back and plundered our farm, stealing nine pumpkins and sixteen apples.
Their leader was a white-furred Vulpera, wearing a suit and a bag, she blue eyes, they were glowing.
Be aware of these thieves!

A large cloud of black, acrid smoke can be seen rising from the northeastern stretch of the Eastern Plaguelands, in the region once known as Northdale, but now given the moniker of the Noxious Glade.
The glade, rumoured to contain a myriad of foul experiments with reanimation and necromancy, was torched by two Night Elves, and a Worgen; reconvening with the rest of their order, before passing through to the Ghostlands

A missive and note has been set up on noticeboards in several Horde outposts and villages in the Eastern Kingdoms; Hammerfall, Kargath, Flame Crest, Bloodgulch and Grom’gol.

To the ‘SPEARS OF VENGEANCE’,
I have journeyed far after reading of your mission for peace and justice in the City of Spikes, and have ventured through lands humans dare to call their own in entirety, greedy as they are, to mete out the same pursuits your group follows. I have come to the town of Hammerfall, and await your word if assistance is required in your mission. You have my axes, friends. I await your word, if assistance is needed, in the inn.
