Not how I interpreted what they wrote. Instead of taking it in the way that everyone is expected to write beautiful prose, imo the point was that anyone participating in roleplay can write, roleplay on WoW being a text based hobby. There was no mention on level of writing which is subjective anyway; some prefer flowery purple prose and others prefer quick & concise approach.

While I agree with most of your post, I should point out that there are people who don’t want to draw, or do but don’t have time to learn it. And that’s okay.
I admit freely that I wish I could draw well, and I’m a little envious of people who can. If I really cared about learning, I probably could have by now. But between my short attention span, overstretching myself with a gazillion other creative projects, and the frightening prospect of getting involved in yet another activity that requires me to sit at a table for hours (which is already required by my job), I simply decided that I’d rather just buy commissions.
And I think that’s fine. If I had unlimited time, maybe one day I could learn all skills I wish I had, but sadly, reality doesn’t work that way.

I think that’s a very valid opinion honestly! We are very very lucky to be in a time where we have so many tools for meta-information sharing. Though, I do come from forum roleplay before I came to Argent Dawn, where everything was simply text. I think you can convey important details about your characters through words really easily, instead of showing me a voice reference someone could describe their voice as gruff and I will have something to work on.

AI has yet to overcome the concept of adversarial patterns. Why do you insist on glazing stealing content so hard? Why should artists not be able to avoid having their art stolen by scrupulous venture capitalists that seek naught but their own gain and profit, no matter who they trample on their way to the top?

I don’t see why they needed to add that as a statement about a thread on AI art as it doesn’t seem relevent to begin with, but I still see it as “If you can’t make me understand then you’re not good at the hobby”. Everything they wrote about AI gen I agree with, as I clarified in my reply to them to begin with.

If i were to be making AI art then disingenuously passing it off as my own in an attempt to make money then yes. I am. Until then keep the pathos ridden mentality in check.
I think it’s because you’re coming across as quite hostile and defensive, interpreting the original post in a rather unfavourable light, to the point where the sentiment seems unrecognizable in your replies

Its what it boils down to, half of this whole thread.

You may not directly be, but the models you are using are. This shouldn’t be difficult to comprehend and you ought to know full well that is what I meant.

My lukewarm take as an artist myself, is that I like AI, itself, but it’s completely ghoulish misuse as the tool it is meant to be turns me off from most of its iterations. (By that I mean the bouts of industry layoffs and general art theft that happens with it as the facilitator.)
I think people more eloquent than me have already expressed themselves better on even these points in this thread, but I wanted to chime in briefly.

I completely agree! Forgive me, I got a little excited wanting to encourage people to draw! I think if people do not have desire to learn that is more than okay, though I think commissions are the best route to go if you want artwork but do not wish to draw it. Despite being an artist myself the majority of my character Rhaethas’ art is commissioned. And some of the artwork for that character is free gifts and free sketches other artists offered. You can get nice art for free if you spend time looking, and even more often find nice art for very cheap!

I am sorry you feel that way, I hope I can explain to you a bit more. I think being unable to help me understand your character through test is a issue in ability, but that is okay! Because you can always learn and get better, those misunderstandings is what teaches you where you are failing so you can improve and be better. Just as your friends only got better though being around people, they had their mistakes pointed out and improved on. That is one of the best things about Argent Dawn, a collaborative effort of creatives bouncing off of each other to hone their skills and share their communication.

As someone who is in the VFX/Animation industry. AI generated content poses a serious threat to my career all because people are either too Lazy to learn how to create art or are seeking to make a quick buck from people who do all the hard work
If I see a single person claiming “Accessibility” as their excuse, I’m sorry. There are people drawing with their feet.
It’s not okay, nor will it ever be.
Pick up a pencil and get to it. No one is born “talented”. Just my thoughts on the matter.
