Selama ashal’anore! Quel’vala thonos! Aka’Magosh!

  • Lord Valorian Mournflame

This Grand Thalassian Tournament is meant to glorify the friendship of Sin’dorei & Shal’dorei and their continued union with the mighty Horde that is owed the gratitude of the high home. In these games, men and women of all races shall engage in contests that will test the limits of their strength, their cunning, their dexterity, their stamina and even their magical capabilities. Each of them offered the chance to make a name for themselves, their house or their clan by not winning only fortune - but undying renown marked in honour. Only the best can prevail in the competitions, only the mightiest will even dare partake. The tournament itself funded by the noble House Mournflame, a traditional thalassian noble house keen on furthering the prosperity and might of the high home and thus, the Horde.

This will be the first year for this type of tournament and if all goes well, it shall make for an annual return. It will take place over the course of three days, as seen in the date at the top of the post. House Mournflame will be hosting the festivities and provide the various tournament activities, ambience emotes in the roleplay groups and even ambience music for those interested. The more, the merrier!

The Games Guide

Archery

The Archers will be separated into groups of five. These five Archers will shoot at their target three times on the mark of the referee, each arrow carrying the value of /roll 3. The highest two scoring will then advance to the knockout stage. When all groups are through, eight combatants should remain - starting in the quarter finals where they are randomly assigned their adversary to face them in one on one.

Duels

The Duelists will assemble on the lowest platform of the Falthrien Academy, facing their assigned opponent in simultaneous battle. Each Duelist will have 3/3HP. Upon first contact, both participants /roll 20 to determine the initiator. Following that, they shall emote battle with /roll 20 rolls. The higher roll wins. Each hits deals 1HP damage. First to reach 0, loses and the other progresses to the next higher platform - awaiting their next adversary.

This will continue on until the last and highest platform with the two finalists remaining. There, the HP System will be gone entirely. Instead, in usual fashion, the duelists determine Initiative with /roll 20. The lower number BEGINS. Once that is done, both start at /roll 3000 for DEATHROLLING. The first to roll to hit “1” results in your DEFEAT. An Organizer will remain at the event to ensure that no confusion arises with the rolling systems.

Jousting

The Contestants will assemble at the designated location to be announced and presented before they are drawn from a listing to see who will joust who and in what order. Each contestant will supply their own plate-mail, lance and mount. These are mandatory for attendance. The contestants will then salute another and the master of the joust will flip a coin to see who goes first, with each rider declaring if they want heads or tails. (Rolling a 1-2 to determine it. 1 is heads. 2 is tails.) They then shall move to the far side of the jousting line and await the master of the joust’s call to ride. The riders will then charge at one another, halting at the middle as the one who has won the initial roll for who will go first will then /yell their emote for all spectators to read and then ride to the middle, the loser of the dice roll will then follow and react according to this ruling convention below, with a /roll 20 1: default miss, opponent gets to roll against you 2-6: miss 6-12: hit shield, lance does not break. 1 point 12-15: shield hit, half lance break. 2 point. 15-18:hit shield, lance shatters. 3 point. 19-20: Dehorse opponent. 5 points. Upon the first list, the loser of the dice roll will then be the one to be able to roll against their opponent. This will continue for exactly three rounds until the rider is no longer able to continue, or the allotted rounds are met. The Master of the Joust will then, at the end of the bout, declare the victor.
Jousting Etiquette and Rules:

  1. The rider must be a Knight, or supported by a local Lord or Knight respectively to ride with a proper seal.
  2. The riders will treat one another with the utmost respect and sportsmanship. Any foul play will result in forced withdrawal from the tournament henceforth.
  3. Dying in the Joust is frowned upon, and so if a contestant is deemed unfit to ride, they will be encouraged to withdraw from the list.
  4. A rider may hold up their hand and shout the word: “Hold.” In order to pause the event. This is only done if there is something wrong or insafe with the current bout.
  5. A rider may remove their helmet and or face-covering and trot down the tilt signifying a withdrawal from the lists.
  6. Aiming for the head or other malicious attempts to harm your opponent will result in immediate withdrawal from the tournament.
  7. Magical is strictly forbidden in the tournament to ensure skill takes precedence over magical prowess
Racing

The Racing will be relatively simple. No rolling or anything. You just RUN.
The course will demand you to stay as much on the road as possible, sentries will ensure this is the case.
Movement increasing abilities, passives and enchantments are prohibited and will be checked and investigated before the race begins.

Dazzle

Each contestant will stand on their platform, facing the other platform. Both platforms are hung above a pond of water and cannot be left, unless you wish to immediately forfeit. The game will be played with the DAZZLING ROD TOY and thus, all participants are required to have the Dazzling Rod toy available or face disqualification. The first to be hit three times, will also face disqualification.

Royal Rumble

Each contestant will be part of the raid group holding all participants - for ease of seeing the rolls of your opponents. The Royal Rumble is a free for all, no weapons allowed, brawl. Each character will have 3/3HP and loses one HP everytime they are hit. If someone attacks you they must declare (TARGET) in their emote and roll, waiting for you to respond with your roll. Higher roll wins. Then it is YOUR turn to attack (THEM). Turn based combat. Naturally, with it being a free for all mayhem it is bound to become chaotic at the start with multiple people potentially attacking the same target - so please bear with everyone.

After fifteen minutes the level becomes uninhabitable and forces you further down and so on. At the next platform, you regain 1HP with your newfound motivation to succeed.

Those making it out “alive” at the last platform, triumph.

The Games

(Everyone) Archery

Honouring the traditions of the thalassian Farstriders, House Mournflame has brought forth from the vaults of their fabled estate an elven crafted longbow that is said to have been used by a mighty Ranger-Captain of their lineage in the times of the troll wars. A relic of a time past and of irreplaceable quality.

(Sin’dorei/Shal’dorei Only) Jousting

Adhering to noble traditions steeped in the annals of time, this contest is available only for those whom are a knight or dame, able to herald their knighthood in such a way that they may be celebrated throughout the contest. The winner of this mighty competition of not only strength, but grace and strategy, shall be awarded from the stables of House Mournflame a thalassian charger of the most purebred quality.

(Sin’dorei/Shal’dorei Only) Duels

In the lands of aristocratic upbringing, Suramar and Quel’Thalas, it has been the traditionally most honourable way to settle a dispute. As one noble would throw down the gauntlet, the other ought to pick it up and accept the challenge - single combat fought by the sword. As such, continuing this tradition, only Sin’dorei and Shal’dorei may partake in this contest. The winner shall be awarded an elven blade of thalassian origin, procured from the excellent smiths in service of House Mournflame.

(Everyone) Racing

The mighty Horde is comprised of a plethora of races. Each have their own strengths and not all are the born fighters. For those not wanting to partake in the martial contests, a racing course has been mapped out to provide an excellent challenge ought to culminate in a neck to neck race between the contestants. The winner of this contest shall be awarded with a Dragonhawk Hatchling from the Mournflame Hatchery.

(Everyone) Dazzle (Sorcery)

Paying homage to the arcane birthright of the Sin’dorei & Shal’dorei, a traditional mage game returns. Utilising the Dazzling Rods provided by House Mournflame, contestants shall face eachother on opposing platform high above a pond of water - limiting their maneuverability whilst fighting for control over their adversary. It is said that losing, will be a soaking wet affair. The winner of this tournament however, shall be awarded an arcane trinket enchanted by Lord Mournflame himself - holding a mystery array of properties.

(Everyone) Royal Rumble

There is no Horde, without strength. Thus, strength shall be celebrated! In this contest, combatants will participate with no other weaponry than their own body - engaging in a royal rumble at the top levels of the Falthrien Academy. The only rules are to not kill anyone or put them into a deadly situation. Every fifteen minutes a horn shall be blown, signalling the descend to the lower levels as the upper levels are made inhospitable by arcane means. Those making it out of the last level at the bottom of the Academy, shall be triumphant and awarded a token of their glorious victory. A jeweled belt signifying their championship and a brawler title.

The Horde is One.
As the tournament is held, it shall be common courtesy to abandon all quarrel, all conflict and all discrepancies with your rivals at the thalassian gates. In spirit of the union achieved through the mighty Horde, each participants agrees to act as mannered as possible to ensure a festivity without bloodshed. The rivalries and quarrels shall be carried out and contained to the contests, as the tournament ground themselves are a place of revelry, indulgence and friendship.
