Then why aren’t players just invited instead of having to be submitted to ‘rankings’ or ‘score’ or ‘achievements’? Then why do people throw a fit when they can’t gear as fast as someone else?
It IS competitive by its very nature. You are competing against ‘the clock’.
You are trying to ‘get further’, ‘do it faster’, etc.
It is not competitive to ask for a +9 done when you want to do a +10.
We are not comppeting against the clock. The clock is made so you get in trouble on it when you are in the top 0.3% or something.
No we do not.
The timer stays the same. You do not need to get faster. You try to stay alive. And you do that with your 4 other friends. There isn’t any competitive about that. It is a great adventure together. Not against someone else.
Then don’t, the choice is yours. Same as the choice to avoid these 1 button players in mine and i should be given the information to act on it.
I’m ok playing with randoms, i just want at minimum for them to play the game. Not spam 1 button

You are competing against the clock, it is a fact. That is the failure state. Are the top 0.3% doing +2 keys? I’ve heard people even deplete them…because of the timer.
If you want to joyfully frolic about keys with not a care in the world that is great, but it doesn’t change reality.

Blizzard should disable one button rotation in dungeons and group content imo

No, you are playing against the mechanics of the dungeon. When you wipe you indeed will not make the timer from a certain keylevel.
People are not depleting +2’s because of the timer. They make it a wipefest because of no knowledge of the dungeon. Then they are not making the timer. And then they learn and go again.

I have speedskated for about 20 years. There is a timer too. And still you are racing only for self improvement. A timer does not make something competitive.

you can call “non-casual” any activity that requre you to press any other than mouse right-click, but that wouldn’t make that the maximum of casual complexity. Ofc mentioned stuff are not doable by people who see that first time in their experience but with a bit practice they would be able to do that content with no problems. That’s by far the exact definition of casual level of gameplay complexity. They don’t need perfect reaction and hard planning or bunch of addons to complete that content, only where that became a mandatory it going to cross the line where it is not a casual content anymore and only after that, not earlier.
But it is not about being the best. It is all about self-improvement.
A leaderboard or ranking does not make something competitive. It is a log of results.
We are not playing against other players. We play together with other players.

tbf one button rotation have sense in raids or for tanks during bossfights since it’s anyway a most boring part of tanking
