Altar of Decay - are you serious? xD

Like… to non-alchemists - they added Altar of Decay that is the only place where you can craft toxic phials and pots…

And guess where the Altar of Decay is.

Behind the final boss of Brackenhide Hollow xDDDDD
the dungeon that’s not even the part of M+ s1

So… to craft some of those concoctions I’ll be forced to run normal/heroic BH just to do profession xD

This is not vanilla. This is not fun either. Why put a mandatory “alchemist bench” inside a dungeon like that… Idk at least let us craft some tokens allowing to craft stuff without going into the dungeon.

Ehhhh come on… like, Blizzard made alchemy quite unfun, nerfing 2h flasks, adding random cooldowns on experiments and this altar of decay thing now… gah

Is it only in the dungeon?
Like Brackenhide Hollow is also an outdoor zone

according to YT and my own findings - only in the dungeon :S I hope I’m wrong tho

I didnt know that…I love that idea!

They really have made professions more interactive and immersive, havent they? TBF though you arent forced to do anything. If you want to be an awesome alchemist then clearly you have to put the work in!

I remember the Dark Iron Bars fondly
Smelting Dark Iron could have only be done at the Black Forge in Blackrock Depths
Good times

Yes, the only chance to craft those is at the altar. I already have all of my vials and potions unlocked and I’m fine with it. We’ve had this kind of interaction in the past.

WORK? Like… running a trivial dungeon you are overgearing, basically just wasting 15 mins of your life xD come on, you can’t be that dense

well, either it is a bother or it isnt…

make your mind up!

it’s bother but it’s not “work”. Work is getting knowledge points or secondary skills up. This is just inconvenience for 0 reasons

Also going Scholo in classic to make flasks.

I just hope you don’t pug the dungeon to get to the altar then have the issue I had in another dungeon where the rest of the group want to run more and then kick you because you don’t want to re-queue with them while you are trying to do your work.

Okay, if this is true that’s just plain bad.

Even in TBC, Blizz learned from this - they added an alch lab to Shatt. Guess why?

Running either Scholo or BWL was definitely not fun for alchemists - on the other hand they could rightfully charge a hefty ton for their crafts.

But even if the craft locations make sense and are easy to reach, they are still very restrictive. Say, in Wrath, my main (as a tailor) has to visit 3 different dragonshrines in Dragonblight to craft Spellweave, Ebonweave and Moonshroud. Oh, and it has half a week CD as well…

There’s a reason they are costly on AH…

This is cool. More of this please.

Its not just Alchemy, Leatherworking has a set of patterns that require the Altar to craft

Haven’t checked other professions but I would assume most have some as well.

This keeps getting more and more ridiculous…

I think Blacksmiths need to go to Neltharus to use the anvil also…

But how?! I found a public LW crafting order, the very first I could craft, went through the all dungeon, by the time I reach the altar the order was gone… How? Have to actually complete a dungeon everytime I find a crafting order?! WTH?!
WHY?

As an alchemist myself i love the idea honestly, but i can see why it can be problematic.

Possible solution:

  • Keep the requirement of the Altar, but add an open world version.

  • Keep the requirement just as a “first craft” thing.
