I really hope you’re right. Blizzard showed the soul in the seed as a really big deal to only end up as a useless visual effect. What?
Maybe you’re right about story change or at least future updates. When they make Bel’ameth a real starting zone we will see more story with these souls.

Whispers in the corner: Please, blizzard, please. Give us Giant kaiju wisp guardian for Bel’ameth( star-celestian dragon? new powerful form of ent? kaldorei giant ghost samurai in night and ardenweald aesthetic) I was a good boy in this year, I swear!
But seriously. I don’t see it as a problem, nelves aren’t the only race that that was genocided in this franchise, and everyone had to move forward, without behing handled special gifts to wipe the tears. This would set a very bad precedent on top of that.
Unfortunately not. Maybe something else will change in the next patch, I don’t think they will do anything with Bel’ameth in TWW. Tree probably show up more in Midnight, but I don’t think we’ll get anything more until the rework the world and turning Amirdrassil into a zone for new players.
Elune is the goddess of life, which also includes power over flesh and bones. One old god (canonically lower in heirarchy of power than her) could transform metal into flesh, even Draenei (mortals) created artificial bodies for the souls of their strongest warriors. But Elune, who should be an expert in this field, can’t do it for her favorite children? That sounds a bit underwhelming.
They may not have been the only ones, but Blizzard described their tragedies in disgusting details. We’ve seen the tragedy of Teldrassil in CGI, warbringers, game cinematics, posters, books, stories and gameplay, we saw almost everything of it on live. At some point, Blizzard noticed they had gone too far. Knowing that, they tried to fix it a bit in SL but it only turned out worse. Elune terrible first impression, useless Tyrande, or the torture of Teldrassil’s citizens in Hell 2.0.
Dragonflight was their last chance, but they made the bare minimum. The night elves are favored by one of the true goddesses so in the world of fantasy it wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Sounds like headcanon. If there was no such a case described before, then you shouldn’t expect for it to happen now.
I highly doubt that it was worse than what Draenei went through, and their stuff was pretty graphic too, or what Arthas unleashed in Lordaeron. And night elves aren’t above doing horrendous acts against others either as it was shown back in Cataclysm. In the end it’s Warcraft, everyone gets treated awfuly at some point. So I see no reason why nelves should get preferential treatment.
SL sucked for everyone. And Elune is terrible goddess since Cataclysm, I’ll cue you to Desolace questing where you could unleash her power to wipe out nelven outpost.
DF turned out to be defanged, meek and just overall unimpressive storywise. It has some great art, but that’s it. Maybe if they’d take some risks, and make some bold decisions then it would be more impressive. But their lack of commitment todecisions they made in BfA is even more upsetting to me than the fact that they went too extreme imo. If you burned thebridges then you should at least attempt to work around with new stories. Not pretend nothing happened.
And well if Ascended troll can do better job at guarding souls of the fallen than “a true goddess” then that makes Elune look bad, not “the lesser god/s”, and I’d sure as heck rather stick with those instead.
The gods of Order and Void could play with life and create artificial bodies and souls, but the goddess of Life cannot do this? If something hasn’t happened, it doesn’t mean it can’t happen. It is from the kingdom of Elune that all life comes, so she should do what the titans and old gods have done many times. Heck, even eternal ones are souls in artificial bodies.
Yes, Draenei have gone through a terrible time, far worse than any other race, yet we don’t see it in such details like the Burning of Teldrassil. We didn’t witness creation of the path of glory and other terrible events. This all happened many years before the WOW storyline. On the other hands saw the Burning of Teldrassil with our own eyes in real time.
Blizzard itself constantly reminds us what a terrible crime this was, so even when we want move on, the writers constantly remind us about consequences the War of Thorns.
I mean… she’s still more useful than any other wow deity. and which quest do you mean? What exactly happened there?
It’s a bit unfair statement, both gods specialize in something different. Bwonsambdi works much better in Shadowlands but is not as strong in the realm of the living. He save trolls souls but he couldn’t save Rhastakhan, on the other hand Elune she can’t save souls before the Maw but she saved Tyrande many times.
Bwonsambdi may take better care of souls, but Elune did a much better job of caring for the living. When you’re alive, of course it is better to worship the goddess of life, only after or before death Bwonsambdi seem more beneficial to you.
You mentioned above that nelves shouldn’t get preferential treatment. However, the trolls were exempt from hell for over 4 years. Gods favor their favorite races, which is really cool in a fantasy world. I don’t see a problem with Elune doing something similar.
I don’t think this tree will be very important in the future but the entrance to Shadowlands is interesting point.
Ysera easily created a new portal. Malfurion had to come back somehow too. At this point, it’s strange that we don’t have at least one portal to Ardenwelad in Amirdrassid when at the same time we have two to Emerald Dream
